ActionScript 3.0 :: Attempted Access Of Inaccessible Method?
Jan 17, 2011
I am trying to write a simple code that makes a movieclip bounce around the stage, yet every time I test the movie it gives me this error: 1195: Attempted access of inaccessible method stageWidth through reference of static type flash.display:Stage. I have two classes, one called mover which looks like this:
I'm following a tutorial on creating text fields and I don't know why my code does not work.. I've googled around and it seems the problem is with something being private while overriding some classes. I'm not doing any of the complex stuff, just creating a text field and formatting it.
var newTextField:TextField = new TextField(); var newTextFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); newTextFormat.size = 24; newTextField.defaultTextFormat(newTextFormat); //<-- ERROR object.addChild(newTextField);
where object is just a movieclip. The code is inside a function.
I have a class called which is called ChartInfo,and it has a getter and setter methods as:
[Code]....
It will always give error like: 1195: Attempted access of inaccessible method isShowingPower through a reference with static type components.charting:ChartInfo.
1178: Attempted access of inaccessible property resetValue through a reference with static type Elements:GameIntro.Within my document class I am trying to access a variable which is in my GameIntro.as but it is throwing up the error above. The variable I am trying to access is called resetValue which is in my gameintro.as file.I have posted both my document and gameintro.as files below.[code]
I am trying to override a parent class method. I successfully done so. But when I try to access a property. i get the following error 1178: Attempted access of inaccessible property left through a reference with static type This property is public and it is defined. below is my code
I have a preloader SWF that, depending on flashvars passed to it, will load an external SWF. The secondary SWF would load but wouldn't have any of the public functions available to the preloader. After extensive trouble shooting, I discovered that it was an issue with teh TLF text field I had created in the secondary SWF.
The secondary SWF will play perfectly as a stand alone with the TLF, and the secondary will load perfectly into the preloader SWF with all available public methods, but only after I change the TLF field to a classic text field.
In Flash CS5 I'm getting 1195: Attempted access of inaccessible method testFunc through a reference with static type Doc. when compiling and can not understand the circumstances, which I have boiled down thoroughly.
MyDoc.as - My document class.
package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class MyDoc extends MovieClip {
[code]....
I can get an error-free compile if I take the seemingly unrelated TLF text box out of the equation, either by changing it to a classic text box, deleting it, or unlinking its containing MC from MyClass. I can also get rid of the error by removing myOtherFunc()'s definition or moving it below myFunc()'s, which I had to do a few times just to convince myself that it was true.
Update: I just confirmed the same behavior on a friend's version of CS5. He's using a Mac as opposed to my Windows setup, and he only has the CS5 version installed, whereas I have both CS5 and CS4.
I have two classes that I am trying to get to intereact, main.as which is the class attached to the stage and then light_mc.as which is attached to a movieclip.
I have a function in main that I would like to access in light_mc. I have set it up so main stores "this" in a variable called instance so I can easily access the functions within main.
So, you have a sprite, you draw some graphics, you set cacheasbitmap=true... I can't seem to access the newly created bitmap data, to access the dispose() method.
I'll try to explain my problem as simple as possible So, I have class A (main class) and class B, and I need these to communicate with each other.
[Code]...
This gives me the error: Access of undefined property RNDMCOLOR... but, I made it public, so it should be accessible by other classes right? Apparently, no I have also tried to type the string "rndmColor" directly into the eventDispatcher and listener, and that gets rid of the error, but the chooseColor function is never called. So what the heck am I doing wrong? How do I make variables accessible from other classes if public doesn't do it?
Here's the context of the problem, in which I will try to include as much information as possible while keeping the explanation brief.
I am trying to make a portfolio website (architectural design + concept art). Flash / programing are not my focus and this is my first go at learning the software. Due to the nature of the content and my (lack) of ability in AS3, I want the the coding to be really simple and still let the site look good. The way the site is currently structured:
1) Basic menu buttons that navigate to sections of the site (brings up a new page).
2) Example, clicking on <Graphics> takes you to a new page and a sub-menu animates in (simple motion tween for the buttons to cascade down). This animation is a movie clip placed on the main timeline.
3) On the screen is also a slideshow for all the images within <Graphics>.Instead of multiple small slideshows, I combined them all into one, so as to avoid complications with add / remove from stage. There are prev / next buttons that keep images within their sub section (ie 1->2->3->1). The sub-menu buttons are suppose to link to the start of each sub section, much like chapters on a DVD. (The slideshow is a movieclip sub-nested in the menu movieclip).
I have hit a brick wall after trying almost every example I have come accross.In a nutshell I have a Flex parent which is embedding a Flash SWF file which has a Method which needs to be accessed from Flex.[code]I have tried strong typing the SWFLoader as a MovieClip to gain control of it but have had no luck.[code]Essentially all I need to do is reset/reload the Flash SWF when the mx:State changes.
//Here we add the new textfield instance to the stage with addchild() _canvas.addChild(PlayerScore); var myFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); myFormat.size = 30;
I've got on main timeline (on frame 10) buttons, when I click one of them it goes to its currentLabel"". On curerntLabel at frame20 "racerButton" where I've got some tweening. At currentLabel "boardButton" at frame30 I load external swf.The problem I've got is when I press any button everything works fine. But when I first press button "boardButton" at frame30 the ext.swf shows up fine, but when next I click the button"racerButton" at frame20 the tweening doesn't work there and it gives me error.[code]when I press any button everything works fine except from bordButton to racerButton
I know it's possible to get access to the currently executing function with "arguments.callee" but is there a way to get access to the scope under which a method is being executed?
I've moved a movieclip which is a sort of popup with two buttons on it to the library of a fla. I also have created a custom class for the movieclip and can create an instance of it using var popup1:zeePopup = new zeePopup();
Now I want to access the close button (instance name "closeIt") via the custom class as file but the button seems to have been turned into a Shape after the move into the library of the new fla from the old fla...whatever the problem is, it is not working.[code]...Movieclip button inaccessible when movieclip in library
[code]Is my code and when adding the backtostart function i always get the error if i remove the back and backtostart parts of the code it runs fine any help?
Created preloader, and after flash loaded want stop on label 'welcomeSite'. And on that label will have button, after click this button what play code from function 'irisDescription'.
But see error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at FlashSite/flashSiteLoading()[FlashSite.as:28]
code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; import flash.text.*; public class FlashSite extends MovieClip [Code] ..... 27 line is: irisBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, irisDescription);
I have an object on my stage, called obj.I also have a class called "Physics" which contains a bunch of methods for physics, such as inertia, gravity, and bouncing off walls. In order to do some of these,I need access to the stage.stageWidth and stageHeight properties.My code is as follows:
public function wallBounce(obj) { this.stageRef = stageRef[code]...
This is supposed to check if the object's x value is greater than the stageWidth or less than 0. When I run this code it says:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I am a semi-newbie programmer who is completely self-taught and have no clue what is causing this. I spent a bit googling it, and I think it has something to do with scopes,.
I want to create an array of strings in a text class that I can access with the main document class. Then I'll be able to populate a text field with items in the array. The purpose of this is to avoid having massive lines of text in my main document... but I can't even get my test to work. The compiler is telling me that the array (txt1) is undefined. First here's my code for the array:
how to access a shock-wave flash player which has the Content-Type: application/x-shockwave-flashits a request get so i am using GET method of HttpClient .any solution to access flash content through Httpclient?
How to access a public method in the swf loaded in a new ApplicationDomain?
ActionScript Code: var appDomainA:ApplicationDomain = new ApplicationDomain(); * var contextA:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(false, appDomainA); var loaderA:Loader = new Loader(); loaderA.load(new URLRequest("application2.swf"), contextA)
I want to access a public method in application2.swf from the main swf that loaded it.
The way I've coded it, each instance of a guy class has a mouse even listener on him which listens for a click. When clicked, I find out the tile underneath him, and the surrounding tiles. So far, so good.
When clicked, the guy calls a method in the tile class, like tile.onClick, which tries to say: get this tile, and send it back to a method in the guy class, like moveGuy. Then moveGuy moves the guy to the tile it was told.
Problem:
From the guy class, I call a method in the tile class. To communicate between classes, the tile class method onClick must be static. But if it's static, the method can't refer to "this", because it's a method in the class only, not on each instance of tile. But I need to know which tile was clicked, and send that reference to the guy so he knows where to go.
How do you access a method from outside its class so that the method can refer to "this" instance? OR, how do I find out which tile was clicked without needing any code on each tile instance? OR... how else can this problem be solved?
