ActionScript 3.0 :: Button Events Frame Location ?

am developing a multiple choice question answer. I have a movie clip in frame 2 where the radio buttons and question choices are displayed.I am trying to define a event for the radio button in the movie clip's first frame. But i show questions in random order. Say for example the first question to show is fifth I move the movieclip to 5th frame. The event is not firing since it is declared in the first frame. Should i place the button event code in each and every single frame or is there anyother option for this.

I created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?

Alright, so I've been struggling with this one since last night. When I create a new object (a new unit), and draw it to the screen (Flash does all the work there), the point at which it's first placed is considered its origin. That is, getX and getY will return the distance from that point... Why is that? Or how can I stop this?

If you click on one of the images of the employees I would like it to load another movie into the location above where the image of the bird is. The swf with the employee photos is a series of buttons within a movie clip within another.

I am using loaders to load .swf files from another folder to save on load times. When I switch the loader to another .swf file in the next frame, they all go blank.Also, is it possible to use a loader in a button to load images from another location?

Basically I have a MC called "__root.T1" that when a button is pressed it will move to the specified location and then it's alpha property will be zero. the alpha property to the functionstartEasing(_root.T1, 50.4, 161.9, 10);

I got a project I'm working on where i have a bunch of buttons that i wan to move to a new location when clicked and then go back when clicked again. Im sure its not as difficult as i think im just not so good with my code. Id rather not have to do 30 individual animation if i dont have to.

1. Im getting the mouse location so that when its at the top of the screen a dropdown menu appears. It works fine on my first two frame, but on my third the drop down doesnt move unless my mouse passes over it.

In the library, I have a movie clip - DraggableButton that has OnPress with StartDrag with parameters and OnRelase with StopDrag. I have a slider with this Draggable button and a bar to slide the button on. I also have two movie clips Clip1 and Clip2. In my main movie I have two instances MC1 and MC2 of Clip1 an Clip2. I have an instance of the Slider. I want to set the _alpha property of MC1 and MC2 depending on the location of the button on the slider.
I think I need to save the location (_x) of the button on the slider in a variable in the OnRelease even of DraggableButton and use this variable in the SetProperty method. I need to know in which event and which object's event should I use the SetProperty method. Or if what I am thinking is not correct what do I need to do?

Lets say I am working on some basic shooting game that involves lots of moving enemies. The enemies all come from one class that extends movieclip.
I want the enemies to move 10px downwards every frame. At the moment I know of two ways of doing this:
The first is to run a single onEnterFrame function on the main timeline, this function loops through all of the enemies on the screen calling a function in the enemy class that contains "x+=10".
The second is to put the onEnterFrame function inside the constructor function of the enemy class that would then contain the "x+=10".
Both give the same result but is one less work for the computer than the other? The first has a big loop that accesses all of the enemies, the second has an "onEnterFrame" running for each of the enemies.

have button listener code on main timeline: Code: endPanel.playAgain.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playAgain); which lets my button within a clip call a function (function is on main timeline as well) later, that clip advances through its frames and the button seems to be losing it's listener code. the button still has the same instance name and is persistent throughout the clip. why is it only recognizing the code when the clip is on the first frame? You would assume that an instance name would retain it's listener code throughout the timeline no?

I'd been working on a side-scrolling shooter game in AS2 for a while and it was going great, but for whatever reason, it scrolls all choppy and the framerate is inconsistent on faster machines. I would have expected the opposite, but it is what is is, I guess. So I'm trying to finally learn AS3, and I found some tutorials that got me started towards remaking what I had, but now I'm stuck.I'm trying to make one of those rotating cannons that shoots projectiles towards the mouse cursor. I have the rotation part working, but I'm having trouble with attaching the projectiles to the stage with enterFrame actions on them.I feel like I'm pretty close to a solution, but I don't understand where to put the functions to move the clips to make them work properly. In AS2, I just put something like this on the cannon clip:

I set up a simple Flash banner with the following code to click through to a web page:

This worked fine, no problems.However, I was then asked to include a click counter by using this code:

I hit enter,it only plays next frame and then goes back to the frame where it stopped. What I've tried was something like:

I want it to play all the way to the end,not just go back.

I have a character, And in its movieclip I`ve got 3 frames (first has an idle pose, second a walking pose and third a running pose), each with a movieclip with an action in it.Well, what I wanted is that when I am walking with this character, and press the SHIFT key he runs.And I`ve got the following code

But when I click the shift button, he shows the first frame static of the movie clip in frame 3 (running frame).

I have an invisible button and only one mc, the mc loops 3x then stops, this is defined with as in mc.
Now i want to play the movie from the invisible button but only loop it once. Which means i would like to play it from frame 1 to frame 215.
And also when u rollout i would like the movie to stop and go to frame 1.

there is a button on 1st frame. there is a movie clip on frame 2. I named the movie clip as "ball_mc" I want to go to frame 2 when I click on button on 1st frame. I know that the code "gotoAndPlay(2);" on button will work. But for some reasons, i want to try another way.... i tried several codes:
1. this.ball_mc.gotoAndPlay();
2. _level.ball_mc.gotoAndPlay();
3. _global.ball_mc.gotoAndPlay();
4. _root.ball_mc.gotoandPlay();
However these codes dun work. Is there other way to resolve this besides this code "gotoAndPlay(2)"?

I have 5 different buttons for the navigation on my flash website.The first page is on frame one.When you click on any of the 5 buttons I want it to play frames 10 - 15 before moving to which ever frame the button 1-5 corresponds to. So:
Click on button 1 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 20
Click on button 2 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 30
Click on button 3 > plays frames 10 - 15 > Goes to frame 40 etc
How do I make this work?

I built a button in one of the movie clips in my project,
when I release this button, it goes to the 41st frame of the main timeline and continue to play until the frame 70 which has got a stop; command. till here everything's just OK. But I want this button to do something more though I don't know whether it's possible or not.
I want this button to go and play the frame number 41 in the main timeline, and then after it stopped at the frame 70 , then jump to frame 73.
