Android :: Calculating An Angle Using The Law Of Cosines, Given 2 Points And Calculating 1 Point?

Dec 27, 2011

I am developing a game for mobile in AIR (as3). I have created some bots for this game that initially just wander around. But when a bonus enters the stage, they have to move to the bonus.The detection of a new bonus and moving of the bots works fine, but there is something wrong with the manipulation when a new bonus enters the stage.Basically, this is how it works (or I try to make it work):My bot moves along with his rotation as a parameter. (works fine)

private function moveToNextLocation():void
{
var angle:Number = _rotation * 0.0174532925; // 1 degree = 0.0174532925 radians
var speedX:Number = Math.sin(angle) * _speed;

Flex :: Calculating Position For Rotated Image

Aug 5, 2010

I have a couple of images, representing tents, that look like this: The red and blue parts on each side of the tents are doorways, and several tents can be connected together via these doorways. For example, I want to connect the two blue doorways so that they match up like in this picture: If the first tent is stationary, around which point do I rotate the second tent and how do I calculate where to place it?

Currently, I have the upper left corner of each doorway as an x and a y value, together with the width and direction (in degrees) of the door. I'm treating the doorways as one dimensional, so they don't have heights. Would another representation suit this better? Perhaps a start point and an end point plus direction?

Professional :: .flv Will Not Play Once Uploaded To Server But Plays Fine Before It Is Uploaded

Aug 6, 2010

I have a flash template that I bought and customized with dreamweaver, flash and Coda html editor, the website test PERFECTLY when I test the index.html file, all of the buttons work fine, I have a total of 12 .flv videos and they ALL play back fine, when I play the index.html file, the problem occurs when I upload the files to my godaddy server, 11 of the videos play fine, the whole site is fine, it is one particular .flv file that will not play once it is uploaded to the server. I have changed the orders the video play, renamed the file and changed the html flv path to reflect the name change, I have deleted all the files off my server, refreshed the server logged out and re logged on and uploaded everything again, I have re-encoded the original .mov file to a .flv file again using Adobe media encoder, still nothing, I am wondering why would the index.html play this particular .flv file fine, but once uploaded to the server it will not play, the path is correct I have checked it, if the path were the problem the index.html for that particular file would not play when I test the index.html file before I upload it, but it plays fine until it is uploaded, I am uploading the whole folder on the root, and this particular video file is in a folder with all the rest of the .flv files, I even tried changing the path and putting this particular .flv file in a seperate folder and change the path still nothing.

Php :: Linux - SWFUpload Image Upload Fails With 'Partial File Uploaded'?

Nov 4, 2011

I'm using SWFUpload to upload images without reloading the page (with a fancy progressbar too), this works fine when I'm on localhost (Wamp server), but it goes nuts when I try to do so on my real linux server (which is the only possible flag as far as I could see), it's running Apache2 and PHP5. As I said the front-end is fine (apart maybe from the fact it's flash).The back-end code is as follows:

SWFUpload_settings.js
var swfu_settings ={upload_url : "upload.php",
flash_url : "flash/swfupload.swf",
button_placeholder_id : "upload_flash",

[code]...

The only error that I get is from $_FILES['Filedata']['error'] = 3, 'Only part of the file was uploaded'. The destination directory does have 777 permission and you can see I made the required checks. It simply will not work, I have no idea why. Also, the files I tried uploading had no spaces in the filename, so that shouldn't fit under the issue 206 with SWFUpload.As far as I can tell it can be either due to the front-end SWFUpload or back-end server configuration.

P.S. no need to mention security, this is only allowed to be used by the server admin with external access anyhow, plus there's the front-end limitation on the files he can select (images). There was no point securing it further.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - How Is The HD Support - And HUGE Image Resolution ?

Feb 28, 2011

I would love to get some information from some of the old pros on here as to best practices using flash for large scale environmental displays:

1. Flash supports High Definition correct? I did a google search, and see that it does - but unsure whether I need a plug-in or it's just a setting? My question is more along the lines of - can the flash animation be highDef, or only the videos it displays?

2. I am working on a very large (like 40ft tall) environmental graphic, and curious .how you deal with images at that size? I remember vaugely, that they don't need to be 300dpi, but do i still need to maintain a certain resolution?

Actionscript 3 :: Webcam Captured Image Resolution / Size

Mar 9, 2012

I have been having a bit of trouble with AS3 and webcams. I have a script that connects to a webcam and then sends its output to a php script that saves the captured image. This works all except for one problem. It seems that the maximum resolution allowed for the actual Camera object is 320x240. I went to the extreme of hooking a Canon 60D up as a webcam because I have a normal webcam that is supposed to have max resolution of 1280x720 and all I can get is a 320x240 image from it. What I have found so far is the max I can get out of the Canon is also 320x240. Maybe I have been looking at this to long but I am stumped. Below is a sample of the action script where videoCapture should be 1024x768. What happens instead is a 1024x768 image is created with a black background and in the top left is a 320x240 image from videoCapture. I could obviously resize this but that would defeat the purpose being poor quality. Is there something I am missing here or maybe some limitation of Flash even?

User's Resolution Is 1680 X 1050, The Image Would Scale To That Size?

Aug 5, 2009

I am developing a flash website that will dynamically fit to the size of the end-users' browser and screen resolution. I have a 2100 X 1400 Background I'd like scaled to 100% of the screen size.

So if the user's resolution is 1680 X 1050, the image would scale to that size.

However, another problem arises - I do not want the image to "stretch" or lose quality, and that it must maintain the same aspect ratio. How can I do this?

I'm trying to calculate the distance between two images (A and F - there are other images between A and F) but I can't seem to figure out how to do it the right way. The image A.x is "(stage/2) - (A.width/2)" and image F.x is "E.x - imgSpace" which is a negative value (all the images x is of negative value to image A.x). In my oppinion the calculation is F.x - A.x and although it might be right I still ned the value to be non-negative.

Flash :: Calculating Distance Just From Speed?

Jun 17, 2011

I'm creating a drag based control in Flex / Flash, similar to a film strip, where an individual can swipe horizontally to scroll through the items. To make the control feel a bit more natural I've added some inertia to slow the scrolling once a swipe has taken place. When first loaded up there will be five items in view with 'x' numbers of items to scroll through with the 3rd item centred and selected.

My problem though is that I want, when animating, a swipe gesture to determine whether an item will end up the middle (3rd position) and adjust its movement calculation accordingly so it docks with the 3rd / centre position. Imagine you perform a long swipe, it flys pasts 'x' amount of items, but as it slows to a stop it elegantly stops with an item centred / in the 3rd position. To do this I believe I need to determine the distance to travel just from the speed value (as time is irrelevent to the user experience, i.e. a longer / stronger swipe would justify a longer animation skimming through the items).

At the moment I'm invoking the animation routine (with inertia) in the ENTER_FRAME event when the user generates a MOUSE_UP event. When they do this, I obtain the speed of drag (by monitoring this beforehand) and then decrement this speed value on each call of the ENTER_FRAME event until it reaches an appropriate value to stop the animation.

Unfortunately all the speed calculations I've seen deal with Speed and Time to determine distance, I just need Speed. Admittedly, my knowledge isn't strong in this area so I might be missing the obvious.
