View 1 RepliesIn flex, what we do, we normally upload the image from flex end and upload it to the serveri want to know, can we do some details checking, like i want to find out the imageesolution(on the client side) before it is uploaded to the server,There are going to be two profits, first the client doesn't need to wait for long to image get uploaded, and in case if finding the image resolution is on the server end, so it willtake time, even the image to be uploaded is not of expected resolutionsecond, the user interaction & interface with the flex application will be improved,

I have a flash template that I bought and customized with dreamweaver, flash and Coda html editor, the website test PERFECTLY when I test the index.html file, all of the buttons work fine, I have a total of 12 .flv videos and they ALL play back fine, when I play the index.html file, the problem occurs when I upload the files to my godaddy server, 11 of the videos play fine, the whole site is fine, it is one particular .flv file that will not play once it is uploaded to the server. I have changed the orders the video play, renamed the file and changed the html flv path to reflect the name change, I have deleted all the files off my server, refreshed the server logged out and re logged on and uploaded everything again, I have re-encoded the original .mov file to a .flv file again using Adobe media encoder, still nothing, I am wondering why would the index.html play this particular .flv file fine, but once uploaded to the server it will not play, the path is correct I have checked it, if the path were the problem the index.html for that particular file would not play when I test the index.html file before I upload it, but it plays fine until it is uploaded, I am uploading the whole folder on the root, and this particular video file is in a folder with all the rest of the .flv files, I even tried changing the path and putting this particular .flv file in a seperate folder and change the path still nothing.
View 7 RepliesI am creating an application where users can upload their images on the canvas and they can resize the image. I need to know if its possible to make some handles for the uploaded image so the users can use those handles to crop the image? [URL]drag a clipart onto the stage and take a look at those Orange handles around the image.I just need to create that kind of effect in flash actionscript 2.

View 1 RepliesHow can I save image with PHP which was uploaded with http post using FLASH? To upload to i'm PHP using this:
[Code]...
so the question is, how to form a file from that $_FILES variable?
I'm using SWFUpload to upload images without reloading the page (with a fancy progressbar too), this works fine when I'm on localhost (Wamp server), but it goes nuts when I try to do so on my real linux server (which is the only possible flag as far as I could see), it's running Apache2 and PHP5. As I said the front-end is fine (apart maybe from the fact it's flash).The back-end code is as follows:
SWFUpload_settings.js
var swfu_settings ={upload_url : "upload.php",
flash_url : "flash/swfupload.swf",
button_placeholder_id : "upload_flash",
[code]...
The only error that I get is from $_FILES['Filedata']['error'] = 3, 'Only part of the file was uploaded'. The destination directory does have 777 permission and you can see I made the required checks. It simply will not work, I have no idea why. Also, the files I tried uploading had no spaces in the filename, so that shouldn't fit under the issue 206 with SWFUpload.As far as I can tell it can be either due to the front-end SWFUpload or back-end server configuration.
P.S. no need to mention security, this is only allowed to be used by the server admin with external access anyhow, plus there's the front-end limitation on the files he can select (images). There was no point securing it further.
I want to know is there anyway to invisible title bar for a AS3 project? and how to force program to use fix resolution and change monitor resolution to what we want?
View 1 RepliesI would love to get some information from some of the old pros on here as to best practices using flash for large scale environmental displays:
1. Flash supports High Definition correct? I did a google search, and see that it does - but unsure whether I need a plug-in or it's just a setting? My question is more along the lines of - can the flash animation be highDef, or only the videos it displays?
2. I am working on a very large (like 40ft tall) environmental graphic, and curious .how you deal with images at that size? I remember vaugely, that they don't need to be 300dpi, but do i still need to maintain a certain resolution?
I kept on getting: ArgumentError: Error #2015: Invalid BitmapData. error whenever I tried to handle image of 5184†—†3456 dimensions, until I wasn't told by my friend that there is a limit in Flash, but he didn't know what was it exactly and I can't find anything on official doc pages.
View 3 RepliesI have been having a bit of trouble with AS3 and webcams. I have a script that connects to a webcam and then sends its output to a php script that saves the captured image. This works all except for one problem. It seems that the maximum resolution allowed for the actual Camera object is 320x240. I went to the extreme of hooking a Canon 60D up as a webcam because I have a normal webcam that is supposed to have max resolution of 1280x720 and all I can get is a 320x240 image from it. What I have found so far is the max I can get out of the Canon is also 320x240. Maybe I have been looking at this to long but I am stumped. Below is a sample of the action script where videoCapture should be 1024x768. What happens instead is a 1024x768 image is created with a black background and in the top left is a 320x240 image from videoCapture. I could obviously resize this but that would defeat the purpose being poor quality. Is there something I am missing here or maybe some limitation of Flash even?

I am developing a flash website that will dynamically fit to the size of the end-users' browser and screen resolution. I have a 2100 X 1400 Background I'd like scaled to 100% of the screen size.
So if the user's resolution is 1680 X 1050, the image would scale to that size.
However, another problem arises - I do not want the image to "stretch" or lose quality, and that it must maintain the same aspect ratio. How can I do this?
i have a background that resizes with the window (without stretching) and my image has a nice resolution. But when i resize it, it seems low in quality.

View 12 RepliesAnyone knows a sample code/source, tutorial or example like this gallery: [URL] (resize the browser window to see the effect) What i want is a thumbnail gallery that shows more lines and/or columns according to user resolution (not is necessary to resize the images). It's the same idea when using HTML and creating a thumbnail list with <li> and "float:left".

I've created a couple of little flash movies (for the first time) showing figures merging into one another. I imported the movies into Dreamweaver and when I tested them in my browser, they worked fine. However, now that I've uploaded all the pages/files for my client to look at, the movies don't work. Infact in one case it doesn't even appear.

I have created a flash movie with a video in it. I used a skin when I imported the video. It plays fine in Flash. When I export the .swf file and drag it into Dreamweaver the skin does not show up.Once in Dreaweaver I set the parameters to wmode_transparent.If so how do I go around it b/c I will need it transparent.

When I am testing these movies in flash (command return), and the files are on a local drive everything works fine. when I upload them to the server and test them in the browser they don't function. Not the same anyhow.
for example one will work fine, the next time i choose one I only see the loader bar progress, and if i try one that has already been tried nothing seems to happen, Is there something obviously wrong???

I made a flash website for a client and there is only ONE thing wrong with it. Everything works when I preview it in Adobe Flash Player. And I have it embedded in a Dreamweaver CS3 file, and when I preview it...it works. THEN when I upload it to the server, two of the INTERNAL links fail. I have two links that say "Behind the Camera" and "Contact". [URL] You can see when you click on either of the links, it just randomly skips ahead in the first scene. What I really want them to do is when you click Behind the Camera you go to Scene 2 and Contacts you go to Scene 3. I have coded everything correctly, because everything works when I preview it. But once I upload the .swf file to the server, those links fail.
The code I used for the buttons are:
BTC.onPress = function(){
gotoAndPlay("Scene 3", 1)
}
[code]....
The user uploads an image. After uploading is complete the image is displayed the screen. The user can select a particular pixel on the image. Accordingly the image should be removed of that color and made transparent. 1. i tried the getpixel and setpixel32 the image still is very blurr. 2. i also tried threshold its also of the same result - not able to see how to make the output of the image more crisp.
View 1 RepliesI've uploaded a video produced by Camtasia, but it's not played at all! Have a look: [URL] You see that the video is being downloaded, but not played.
The player is ARPlayer 1.7. The video is a mp4 file.
The file is perfectly played on a local computer, but after uploading to ftp stops being played. I don't why...
P.S. It's interesting that if I make simply an swf-video file, it's played good: [URL]. But I don't like this option, because the swf-video is 30MB vs 5MB of the mp4-video.
I used my Flash encoder to convert a .wmv to .flv and FTP to my server but I cant play it. I can play it fine on my desktop but not on my web page. www.holy-trinity-schoolschool.org/index.html. I ftp'ed the Script file and the .flv but nogo.
View 1 RepliesI am creating a site witch has a gallery page. I first used an instance of the UILoader to load a separate galley swf into the main site. Now while this was fine for all things local, the minute I uploaded to the production site for testing I am left with a site where only some text line of the gallery's xml file. So I tried enclosing the gallery into the main site and am left with the same thing. I've check all the paths to the thumbnails and large files as well as the large and relevant sound files.
