ActionScript 3.0 :: Can't Override AddEventListener Function To Remove All EventListener?
Nov 16, 2011
I'm trying to override the addEventListener function to input an extra line of code to put the event listener type in an array so I can remove it all at once.But the override function doesn't seems to run.
Code:
override public function addEventListener(type:String, listener:Function, useCapture:Boolean = false, priority:int = 0, useWeakReference:Boolean = true):void
i have couple of videos that i want to play in succession. my theory on how to do this was to add an event listener that would call function to change the source of the FLVPlayback component and play once the initial video finished playing. The problem is that i don't know what parameters to pass to the eventlistener and the acting function. I just need someone to fill in the blanks to the following code
I've got a text field that initiates a function when the link is clicked, but after it's clicked I want to attach a different function to the text field, but It doesn't initiate with this one still active.
is there a way to extend a function, or override it, without having to rewrite the whole function. e.g would it be possible to add a simple trace statement at the beginning/end of the addChild() function. im looking for something similar to super() in constructor. just as i dont have to rewrite the whole constructor of the class that i extend, but i can add my own code, then call super(). ive read something about prototypes and that they could be possible solutions.
I know how to remove an addEventListener from a movie clip, but is there anyway to detect the existing of an addEventListener before I remove it?On the other hand, how to add an addEventListener to a movie clip if it doesn't have one?
I am struggling with this. I have an EventListener function that receives a parameter. For any reason, seems that Flash doesn't like it when is time to REMOVE it:
Code: var counter:Number = 0; btnCreate.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,Create); btnRemove.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,Remove);[code]......
What is the trick to remove an EventListener when it does have a parameter?
I have a movie placed on stage (on first frame of Timeline) and an Event.ENTER_FRAME EventListener inside the movie, when I click a button on stage that takes me to 2nd frame, I want to remove the Event Listener inside the movie. How can that be done.
I am trying to remove an eventlisnter on a button so when the button is pressed the animation completes before you can press the button again. But based on my code below you can push the button as many times as you like:
var LeftButt:MovieClip = new left_button(); var RightButt:MovieClip = new right_button(); var topClip:Sprite = new Sprite();
In my scrolling code I want to remove the eventListener for my reportStageMouse event, but I get an error: 1120: Access of undefined property reportStageMouse. I am trying to remove the listener in my mouseUpOnStage event. I assume I cant remove the listener because it's in a nested function? [code]
I am trying to remove the EventListener after I click on a MovieClip so that when I rollOut of the clip the movie will stay on the "clicked" frame rather than move back to the rollOut frame.
straight into the code - mps is a OSMF video instance - when it has finished playing through the TimeEvent - I can remove its listener but not remove it from the stage - why is this not working!?
Code: mps.addEventListener(TimeEvent.COMPLETE,removeVideo); function removeVideo(t:TimeEvent):void
I have an array of buttons in a public var in _model.btnArray. I want to make a function that i can pass an index number parameter that will add addEventListener to the button at that index and removeEventListener to all other buttons in the array. The function creates a tempArray:Array and assigns _model.btnArray to it. Then it addEventListener to the index passed as a parameter to the function. Then it splices the passed index out of the tempArray and then loops through spliced tempArray to remove all the EventListeners from it. which should be the listeners on all the buttons except for that one spliced. but this isn't working, its giving me an error and i don't know why.should this be working or is it just wrong?
Code: function addRemoveEventListener(num:Number){ var tempArray:Array = _model.btnArray;
I'm trying to remove an eventlistener on (in this specific case) a HorizontalList. The list is initialized with the property itemRollOver="playPreview(event)" I'd like to remove this eventListener by switching state and stating something like: <mx:SetEventHandler target="{horList}" name="itemRollOver" handlerFunction="null" />
This doesn't seem to work. The event is still handled and playPreview(event:ListEvent) is still called. How to properly do this? (I know I can do it in Actionscript, but I specifically want to do it by means of state switching)
Problem is that I can't remove Event.COMPLETE event listener and when I call the loadData funtion twice or more, it works 2 times or more. Sorry for my bad english and worse explanation but I need to fix it today and I don't know what to do.
I have a movie placed on stage (on first frame of Timeline) and an Event.ENTER_FRAME EventListener inside the movie , when I click a button on stage that takes me to 2nd frame, I want to remove the Event Listener inside the movie. How can that be done.
I have a set of Cue Points in an FLV I'm playing. It's an interactive quiz, so the idea is that flash will change a variable, theAnswer, to a different letter depending on which question it is. The answer to question 1 is B, question 2 is D, etc. Either the cue point event listener isn't working, or else it is working and Flash isn't declaring the variables. 1120: Access of undefined property theAnswer. I literally can't find a single problem with my code. I have an almost identical Event Listener further down which works.
I have learned that there is a class called Function which is used as a blueprint for all as3 functions. Is there a way to override the call() function within the function class so that a trace can be made when any/every function is called?
I trying here to avoid having to bind resources to all my components labels ( ie a button) and find a way to have this automated.
Problem: It corrupts the layout in design mode to bind directly in the mxml label="{resourceManager.getString('myResources', 'submit')}" and makes the design view useless. but when declaring bindings elsewhere, in actionScript or via a bind tag, it is counter productive and prone to many errors and miss.
Proposition: I would like to create my own button that automatically invoke resources to localize a button label. So the author puts "Submit" in the mxml description of my button, and when running it would take the value of the label ie "submit" and use resourceManager.getString('myResources', 'submit').
but I can't find the way to override the set label function, Is it possible if yes how? else how can I go about it?
Maybe I am missing an essential process here that would make the use of resources more elegant, as well as how to override such thing as a button's label.
If I override a public function in a base class, I would have thought that this override function is called and the original is ignored? though this doesn't seem to be the case...
public class AbstractScreen extends Sprite { public function AbstractScreen() {
[Code]....
If my model dispatches a CHANGED_LANGUAGE event, the text in the views gets updated, But I also get a trace of "WARNING: need to override public function updateLanguage()"
I always have a question about override custom event. I am not sure why or what do to inside override function. I searched google but didn't get too many feedbacks. EDIT: My projects seem work fine even though I use my custom event without override. Anyone could explain it?
I'm trying to create a simple game where you can click on shapes in a toolbar and then drop them on the screen.There are three shapes, so I want the user to be able to select different shapes and such.I've written the code thus far like this:
Code: stop(); var cursor:MovieClip; var shape:MovieClip; var circ:MovieClip;[code]..........
I'm getting a duplicate function error and incompatible override error for both the "rect" and "pent" functions, but the code works fine if I eliminate these two functions and just include the "circle" function (albeit the old circle disappears the instant I drop a new one).
I have a .fla and one.as(DisablingButtons.as).The .fla currently has only one key frame and three movie clips.First movie clip has base class flash.display.MovieClip and class DisablingButtons.as.The other two movie clips have base class DisablingButtons and their own classes (set by flash on export). The movie clips have identical timelines, 20 frames, two motion tweens, and the only action is stop();on frames 1,5,10,15. I get two errors:5000: The class 'DisablingButtons' must subclass 'flash.display.MovieClip'and 4 copies of 1024: Overriding a function that is not marked for override (on frames 1,5,10,15 of movie clip #2)
I am importing flash.display.MovieClip and have public class DisablingButtons extends MovieClip.Code below...[code]..........
I have a datagrid with itemRenderer in datagridcolumn as my custom component(c1). I am getting the dataprovider data in custom component by overriding the set data function, it is fine. But now my custom component(c1) is also having another custom component(c2).
Now the doubt is - how to get the dataprovider data in c2 component?
