Aug 16, 2010I have an object on the stage, I make this object invisible and give it a listener to listen for a click. But then, on click nothing happens.

I can see all of them when wmode is set to window but i want the background image on the page to show through the flash and have designed the flash around that. However when I set the wmode to transparent some of the objects don't render at all even though others do and they share the same mask.

Nov 8, 2009What is happening is, when I convert any object to any type of symbol, it disappears on my stage. It tests fine, but the symbol is invisible. This makes it difficult for me to see the overall design. Last time there was a folder that was just filled with about 10k blank files somewhere in the preferences for flash, but I can't seem to find it to delete those random files/ that folder. I'm on a Mac, and uninstalling/reinstalling flash does not work.

I have assigned the previous button on one page to attach the movie of the page previous to it and then tested my movie. However when i click the previous button the movieclip does load but loads behind the starting moveiclip. So what i want to do is when the previous button is cliked, that page (movieclip) with the previous button on its dissappears and the previous page loads.

Mar 1, 2010I have a simple FLA that pans through an image up/down/left/right. There are several hotspots (transparent buttons) that popup simple captions when the user rolls over them and launches a URL when clicked.
The captions are actually one caption that I dynamically write text to, size, and _x, _y locate when the rollover event occurs.
The caption (cap) is a rectangle and text box MC symbol which is grouped with the graphic and buttons as another MC symbol. It all works great, panning, captions.
The problem is, when the mouse is first moved, the caption box appears over the graphic. I want it invisible until a rollover occurs. I have tried a setup function action in the first frame that performs cap._visible = false;, which did not solve it. That syntax works fine following the first rollout.

Dec 18, 2011I've been working a game where you drag an object onto a grid. This then 'grows' over time. Once it has taken about 5 seconds to grow, the player can click on it (only 5 seconds for debugging reasons) and 'collect' money as a result. The problem I'm having however. Is that I cannot remove it once the timer even has occurred. I get the 2007 parameter error, child must be non null. Problem is, I don't see how it is null as I've already defined it? I'm rather lost - and somewhat new to AS3.

After I upload the files, I can see the hand icon when I mouse over them, but when I click on that spot nothing happens. I have two text links on the same page that do work. One is an email link and the other is a url link. I have check the button names to my code and they do match.

Mar 22, 2011After a few years of using Flash I am creating my first project in AS3 and am running into some problems which are quite common involving targeting movieclips and controlling them. Basically I have a fla which has an MC on the timeline with an instance name of INFO_MC. Now i want this MC to be invisible when the swf starts and I have managed this by using the following code: Actionscript Code: INFO_MC.visible = false;
This is fine. However I get stuck when I try to make INFO_MC visible when I click a button in a loaded swf. How would I target INFO_MC from a button inside a loaded swf. Do I need to add an event to the button and then have a listener on the root timeline which would turn INFO_MC visible when it hears that the button has been clicked?

When I test the movie I see the hand icon so I know it's an invisible button, but when I click on it, it goes out of the flash play like it wants to go to a browser, but nothing happens. When I upload the files I can see the hand icon again, but nothing happens when I click on the link. I tried the changing the .html file that it is housed in to an .htm file, but that didn't work either.
