ActionScript 3.0 :: Delete Pixels To Reveal Background / Transparency?

Jan 6, 2011

This has been bugging me for a little, and some of the examples I have tried to find throw me in loops and they have been wrong. [url]...

Or if you have ever played "Scorched Earth" you will see that when some part of the terrain is destroyed, it punches out the pixels perfectly when a shot is fired into the ground, to reveal the picture behind the main picture with the terrain.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Grab The Transparency (or Alpha Value) Of Individual Pixels In An Embedded Or Loaded Video?

Jun 27, 2010

how to grab the transparency (or alpha value) of individual pixels in an embedded or loaded video? We tried copying over a frame of video into a bitmapdata object with transparency enabled. However, even though we can "see through" the video at certain spots (indicating alpha = 0 there), the alpha value comes back as 0xFF for every single pixel in the BitmapData object.Obviously alpha data is being stored inside the embedded video, but how can I actually get that value?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Change Transparency Of Background Dynamically Within An Area?

Dec 13, 2011

I have two backgrounds on different layers, and an object that can be dragged around. What I want to happen is that an area around the object should be transparent so you can see the background behind the first background, and when the object is moved, the transparent area should also move. Kind of like a "see-through" effect.

ActionScript 3.0 :: 24 Objects Transparency Bug - Overlap The Layer Background

Jul 13, 2011

I ran into an odd problem a week ago that I haven't been able to fix. I'm new to Flash so sorry if this has been discussed but my research has turned up nothing. I'm using Flash Develop. I managed to duplicate the problem in a simple program: I set up one large bitmap for the background, not transparent. I then add another large bitmap on top of that, the second layer background, as a child of the main bg. This layer has transparency so you can see the bg through the trees and such. Then I stack a lot of sprites on top of each other, all with transparency. They can be children of the main bg or the second layer bg, doesn't matter. Where the transparency of the sprites overlap the second layer background disappears completely to reveal the main background (like a window around the sprite stack.) The bitmaps I'm using are from embedded png files.

I found that 23 transparent objects causes the 24th object and beyond to disappear. And it only happens when I have a mask set to the main background (a simple filled square for clipping the child sprites that move off-screen.) Also the problem goes away while the background is moving. My project features many objects near each other so the chance of this problem occurring is pretty high. Its not game-breaking but I'm new to flash and my project is nearly complete (and large) so I'm hoping there is something simple I can do to fix this.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing The Background Pixels?

Dec 28, 2010

Coming from java I could manipulate the background pixel by pixel as well as read color values of a certain pixel at coordinates (x,y).Now in flash I seem to be able to load a bitmap image. But I need to change the background color and also be able to read the color value of pixels.

My flash movie size is 800x600, sometimes bigger.I am trying to do simulations (biology) of a moving object leaving a trail (changed background color?) Then other moving objects can detect that trail (read background color) and increase or decrease the color value.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Draw Opaque Pixels On A Transparent Bitmapdata Background?

Oct 28, 2010

im trying to draw opaque pixels on a transparent bitmapdata background

heres the ex:

ActionScript Code:
//TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND
var _pixelColor:uint = 0x9998002E;
var _bmpd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(4, 7, true, 0x00333333);

[Code].....

This example paints 2 arrows, the first is using the transparent background, and the second is using an opaque background on the BitmapData.

What I'm trying to achieve is to paint the pixels of the arrow completely opaque on the transparent background. But as you can see, the pixel is at 99% of its opacity (var _pixelColor:uint = 0x9998002E) How can I paint 100% opaque pixels on a transparent BitmapData "canvas"?

Flex :: Combobox Backspace Or Delete Key Does Not Delete Highlighted Text

Mar 26, 2010

I am implementing a flex auto-suggest combobox - as the user types in each character: Consider the string 'Stackoverflow' and user input = 'st'

1) the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 'st'
2) text is set to auto-suggest string such that the un-typed part is highlighted.

So for instance, the combobox text may contain st'ackoverflow', where 'ackoverflow' is highlighted using setSelectedIndex()When I hit back-space or delete, and check the 'this.text' value, I expect that the last un-highlighted character ('t' in the above case) gets deleted and the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 's'. However the text property contains 'st', as before

ActionScript 2.0 :: Fade Grid Effect To Reveal Landscape

So I tried just cropping the square out in photoshop, then just placing it in the exact same spot above the original image, but everytime the movie gets to the portion in the timeline with the actionscript, the little square with the man in it disappears. ActionScript 2.0 :: Top Down Falling Particles Reveal Dynamic Mask/logo?

Apr 7, 2009

I have plenty of ways of creating falling snow like effects, but a client has just comitted me to an effect as a test of my ability without talking to me first, that I am a little stumped by. use AS2 or AS3 for this project because of the filters and tween effects available to me.I need to have a top down falling snow effect (its actually supposed to be flour falling from a sieve but hey...). All the snow effects I know, fall down sideways on, from top to bottom, and then they disappear off the page (the flakes).I need the particles (movieclips) to fall downwards from a birds eye view, and 90% of them to disappear, but the remaining 10% to gradually (over about 5 seconds) build up a white logo (shape) in the middle of the screen.So I am guessing that I am going to have to be clever with dynamic masks to get the shape appearing a little bit at a time, and then I also need some random motion, and scaling as the particles fall downwards (and away) from the eye.
