I am using many external swf file in my flex application,but when i use the files which are in same name its not getting refreshing properly, so i need to delete my temp file without refreshing the application.

In my application when i first time run my application, application copy some data from application directory to application storage directory. now i want to delete all data and application directory folder also while uninstalling application.
I am doing that because when i launch any update then application is accessing old data which conflict with my application new features.

View 1 RepliesWe are writing log files to File.applicationDirectory and want to clean out old log files. The question is how do you delete files out of that directory? When I try and delete old log files out of this directory it gives a security exception. Is there anyway around this? I know you are not supposed to write to File.applicationDirectory, but we are writting are logs there anyways.

But I get each time the "directory not found error"

I am working on an Adobe AIR (2.0) application that contains a feature to allow users to print documents (such as salary slips). Those documents are originally in PDF format. Due to circumstances we cannot directly display those PDFs in the AIR application (for example using flash.html.HTMLLoader). I am implementing a flex auto-suggest combobox - as the user types in each character: Consider the string 'Stackoverflow' and user input = 'st'
1) the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 'st'
2) text is set to auto-suggest string such that the un-typed part is highlighted.
So for instance, the combobox text may contain st'ackoverflow', where 'ackoverflow' is highlighted using setSelectedIndex()When I hit back-space or delete, and check the 'this.text' value, I expect that the last un-highlighted character ('t' in the above case) gets deleted and the data provider is filtered to show all items starting with 's'. However the text property contains 'st', as before
I've created a Flex application and the size of the swf file is ~900KB. My trouble is that the files are not getting cached. When I launch the application for the second time, the swf file is fetched again from the server. I'm including the swf file in a jsp, and I'm not modifying any HTTP Caching Headers. I assumed that the swf files will be cached automatically. Isn't it so? How do I forcefully cache the file? Do I need to provide anything in the MXML code or just a response.setHeader("Cache-Control","max-age=100"); is enough? Can anything be done from the flex side itself?
View 2 RepliesI'll ONLY recieve an "Error #3000: Illegal path name" if I try to open a file which is placed inside the app-folder of the air. If the file is somewhere else outside of the app-folder it works.

The slideshows and other data are defined in several xml files which are in the other application's program folder. When trying to load these into my AIR app I get the following error:

I haven't written anything in Flex in a couple years and much has changed since. I used Flash Builder 4.6 to build my app now I want to deploy it to a ASP.NET application. What files other than the swf do I need to deploy to ensure everything works for my users? I see in the bin-debug folder of the project it spits out a bunch of swfs (framework, rpx, playerProductInstall, spark, etc) and the swfobject.js. Do I need all these files deployed to the same location as my swf?

In the process of writing the code, whenever I make a change and then test the movie, the flash movie is obviously still looking at the OLD information. I tried using the "Delete ASO Files" on the menu, to no avail.I can' find these ASO files anywhere on mycomputer.Aha! I tried something else. I quit flash,restarted and ran the same script with no changes. It returned the data correctly, but then gave me this unpleasant message:256 levels of recursion were exceeded in one action list.This is probably an infinite loop.Further execution of actions has been disabled in this movie.There are no loops of any kind in the code, which is below.

I've programmed a Java application using BlazeDS and Flex, but i think the problem also occurs in any ajax style application. It's a monitoring application, so requests are made regularly to the server. The browser has stored a large amount of temporary internet files on the client pc even getting it saturated. I have an AIR app that gets bundled with XML files that the app needs. These get put into the APP Storage Directory, of course. Works great. But when I install a new version ( which includes new XML files) , the new files don't get added or overwrite the ones from the previous version. It seems that if that directory is there from a previous install, the installer will ignore the part where it moves included files.

Now the library contains lots of folders, i.e. Web Site.psd Assets 1 / Web Site.psd Assets 2 / Web Site.psd Assets 3 etc etc.. They obviously contain the same asset names, each with a corrected content.How can I determine which files are the ones used and delete all the others from the library?
View 4 RepliesI'm using FDT 3 and Ant to make a jsfl file that is then executed to compile fla's and I'm trying to figure out how to get the jsfl to remove the aso files. I've tried storing the path to the aso files in a property in Ant the is then added to the jsfl when its created and it works to remove the aso file but it means that everyone must edit that property to fit their machine, we are using Macs and Windows.
My question is, is there a way to have jsfl find and delete the aso files?
Our application is a ASP.NET + Flex running on IIS 6.0 server. On the client machines we run IE8 for display. IE creates temp files that seems to be taking up disk space. The Temporary Internet Folder size continues to grow seems to exceed the limit of 8MB - automatic recycle. When and under what conditions does IE delete files from the temporary folders?

I am bringing it in through an HTTP service component and putting it into a bindable array _cattArr, that I am using as the dataprovider for a grid.When someone adds an item to the datagrid, it saves to the same xml file. Then I close the window, reopen it and don't see the item that has been added.It is writing to the xml file, because when I restart the flex app, the item has been added, it's just not refreshing it. I have tried to resend the httpservice, but still no luck. What is the correct process for doing this?

Is there a way to refresh a component or an application back to its initial state? I have an accordion navigator that stays on the most recently selected index even if I log out. Right now, my log out function takes me back to the login page which is at state(1). If I log back in and go into the accordion, it is on the last tab I had viewed.I would like to be able to clear any data from the controls inside the nav and reset the nav back to its default. I thought something like,

I'm working on my first ever AIR application with flashbuilder - just so you know. I've bound a mx:DataGrid component to a DataProvider which is a mx:HTTPService fetching an xml file with items. To keep the data up to data I'm polling the webservice on a given interval.
My problem is that I loose the currently selected item in my DataGrid when the data is updated. I've tried to save the DataGrid.selectedIndex and set when the data is updated, but I'm not sure when to do it?! The closest I've come is to restore the index when the updateComplete event of DataGrid is fired. This works, but the selection first fades away and then fades in - not updated soon enough. So what is the best way to keep the selection? (only one selected item at a time) And as a side question: is there a convenient way to only update the data when it has actually changed?
Within a child, I have an XML element with the following structure:[code]I then use a repeater to list each out onto the screen. There's a button I have created that is used to create a position. So, once the user clicks this button, I call the following function:[code]The above function creates a new XML object, puts some default values in, and appends it to the list of project positions. After appending the new information, I made the height of the project larger and then check to make sure the new project height isn't overlapping any other projects... but that information is irrelevant to this post.My problem is this - once i append a new child to the XML variable, it doesn't appear on the screen. Is there a "refresh" or "re-render" option i can do to the repeater in order to make the new child show?[code]Once i make the changes, and use the XMLListCollection as the dataprovider in the repeater, the information no longer loads on the screen.
