Jun 29, 2010I am adding an image dynamically to my SWF. Is it possible to figure out that whether the uploaded image is black & white or gray-scale or colored?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to figure out when a child is added to a movieclip "x", and handling/detouring this operation from withing this "x" movieclip.
I tried overriding addChild and addChildAt at with no prevail. The movieclips that are placed on the stage via flash still don't trigger addChild or addChildAt. However, tracing this.numChildren shows '2' correctly.
I need 5 embedded fonts to be added in to a combo box and on selection to apply the font type to several dynamic text boxes.
View 2 RepliesIs it possible with actionscript to detect if an image is present before loading it?For instance I am using loadMovie to load an external jpeg.
Code:
instanceName.loadMovie("/folder/image.jpg");
Is there any way I can test to see if that image exists using Actionscript, then tell the timeline to do something else if it is not there?
I have an image which its source depends on a bindable property of another object.I'd like to know when this source changes, for example, by capturing the bind event or another related event of the Image control.
View 1 RepliesI'm working on an image pre-loader where i get the images i want from their respective url's, and once finished, proceeding to the next page. I have gotten it to load the images as i want/need, through lines of code similar to this:
Code:
var loader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
this.createEmptyMovieClip("imgcont",1);
loader.loadClip("*url to img goes here*",imgcont);
All i'm looking to find is how many of my images have loaded completely. At first, i thought that getBytesLoaded() and getBytesTotal() would have been able to help me, but it seems that the images brought in through loadClip has no weight on how much has been loaded.
Is there any way of determining how much of those images has been loaded?
hare is the line I use to load image to movie clip IMG:
Code:
IMG.loadMovie("photoz/"+LPIC[DAIKTYNAS[preinuse][b]]);
ignore the details..

I am able to load images into my file by designating their locations in an XML file using AS3. I'd like to be able to determine the width and height of the individual images without having to manually enter each one into the XML file.I think once I reach this point, I'll be able to figure it out on my own:I want to be able to load an image to the stage and trace its width.
View 6 RepliesIs there a way to detect the _height and _width of a incoming image?
I'm going through a loop, duplicating movie clips with mask, loading an image, and squeezing it down to 100 x 100 for thumbnails. The client wants the thumbnails to be actual proportions but I used so many tweens and setup functions based on the 100 pixel width it's going to be a nightmare.
Please help! I'm designing an HTML website and added an animated Flash image using the object tag. I was handcoding on Dreamweaver and before I saved it I got this message asking me if the code should be modified for compatibility with IE8.
So I just clicked on 'Yes' and a 'script' folder was generated.
The Flash image appears on Firefox 3.5 but comes up with the dreaded red 'x' on IE8.
I am trying to detect if a point on an image is on the opaque part of the image or the transparent part. I have a image in a 48X48 area. half the image has transparent pixels. I seem to detect a hit on every part of the image like a bounding box test but I don't want that. For example . I place a 48X48 size image on stage at 0,0. At point 40,20 on the stage the image has transparent pixels but I get it detects a hit?
mm.img.hitTestPoint(40,20,true); //it should give me false
I'm currently trying to add an image galley, something like this [URL] into into the carousel from gotoandlearn [URL]. What I'm trying to achieve is, every icon would have its own image gallery with different images beside it.

I am using a Flash AS2 template for a PayPal shopping cart on my site. As the code is now, a new shipping charge is added to the buyers total for every item added. I would like it to have only 1 shipping charge, no matter how many items are added!
Actionscript Code:
import caurina.transitions.Tweener;cartItems = new Array();itemNr = -1;itemQty = 1;cartin = false;ctrl_mc.cart_mc.onRelease = showCart;attachMovie("cart","cart_mc",15000,

View 3 RepliesI have a class with a contstructor that should only change the source of an image.
[Bindable]
[Embed(source='../pictures/test.jpg')]
private var _picture:Class;
[code]....
(the image is not an image, but a class)The problem is that when I call the constructor, let's say:
var test:Test = new Test(pictureAtStage.source);
Flashbuilder will give an error, becouse I can't tell the compiler what data type "newSource" at the constructor will have...
*edit:When i use _picture.source, the embedded source does not seem to be changed...?
I've inported a flv video and embeded it in one of the templates flash has, when i publish it and I go to the video.html file it plays, when i go to the video.html via my website I get the loading type image on the tracker bar. what is wrong? THe files are all linked correctly, it's video.swf as everything is in my "video" folder.
View 4 RepliesI've been trying to format a text field using html in an xml file. So far it's been working fine but I tried to load an image to the text field and I got this error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.
I figured I had my image in the wrong format (it was a jpg) so I tried png and gif with no results. Here's my xml file
Code:

This is the example I started from: tourdeflex But these lines cause errors:
var networkInfo:NetworkInfo = NetworkInfo.networkInfo;
var networkInterfaces:Vector.<NetworkInterface> = networkInfo.findInterfaces();
I have a dynamic text field on the stage, instance name contentLength. I get this error: 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Number to an unrelated type String.
Code:
import flash.display.*;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.text.TextField;
var mcHolder:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
mcHolder.width = 200;
contentLength.text = mcHolder.width;
Code:
for (var i:int = 0; i < menuArray.length; i++) {
var currentIndex:MovieClip = this["menuButton" + i]
currentIndex.menuButtonTxt.text = menuArray[i];

So when I did this the problem that I am having is that it throws an error at compile time. 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type void to an unrelated type Function.
This is driving me nuts and i cant figure it out.
