I am capturing the user's name with a Text Input field and want to use their name later on in my movie.

The input text field is within a movie clip that I placed on the main timeline. I want to use this input (their name) later on in my main timeline.

I have a INPUT TEXT inside a mc called "txt mc" and DYNAMIC TEXT in the main time line.I'm trying to display what's typed in the INPUT TEXT (my_Input_Txt) in the DYNAMIC TEXT boxes (my_Dyn_Txt1, my_Dyn_Txt2, my_Dyn_Txt3).Here's the code. But it won't simply work perhaps because the INPUT TEXT is inside a MC. I need to have the INPUT TEXT INSIDE THAT MC while having the DYNAMIC TEXT boxes out in the main time line.

my_Input_Txt.onChanged = function() {
my_Dyn_Txt1.text = my_Input_Txt.text;

I want to know how(and what scripts) to take words from a text input box and cause it to display and image Ex: if the text box said "smiley face" in it, then the image "smiley_face.jpg" would display on a certain movieclip and can be dragged around the stage and when a new image is loaded, it doesn't replace the previous image on the movie clip.

On frame 1, the user inputs data into the input text boxes and hit's the "calculate" button (also located on page 1).The calculations are displayed in the dynamic text fields on frame 1but aren't appearing on frames 2 and 3. Anyone know how to get the calcs to show up on frames other than where the calculation button is located?

I'm trying to fade in some text at a certain point in my movie. After reading the tween class tutorial, I grabbed this snipped of code, slightly modified to be:

Now, when I run my movie this works just fine. But the thing is, I don't want it to run until a button is clicked in the movie, and the movie clip will not be visible until that button is clicked. So how would I have this tween fire off when the button is clicked? How do I connect them?

I have an issue with font scaling of a dynamic text box.

Currently i have one input box named input_1 with a variable attached to it named "choc_1".

Also, i have a dynamic text box named dynamic_1 with variable "choc_1".

When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.

auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.

The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

my instance is a simple box.in the box movie symbol i have another textbox.

when i click the button, my instance gets duplicated. but i want the value in the input textbox to be copied to another texbox which is in the box object. how do i do that?

I have a simple movie clip, (which is a simple drawn white shape) on my stage (instance name 'changed') and an input text field (var: 'hex') with a button (called 'set button'). I also have a list of values and their corresponding hex codes (there are 940 values in total). What I would like to achieve is, when a value (from the above list) is put into the input text field, and the 'set' button is clicked, the movie clip instance RGB values are set to the corresponding hex code (from the above list).

Now I need to trace this text. the last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

I'm updating a game in a Flash, using Actionscript 2 (what it was originally built in). It's a quiz game with different categories. At the end of each test is a results page showing their score for each of all the categories; each score being saved and displayed each time it's brought up. I need to have a print button added to this page, which I was able to do with

And labeling the frame of what I want to print #p. This works, but the drawback is, I can do that on each results page frame for each category; the error that results from multiple frames labeled the same thing, 'causes the dynamic text fields displaying the score to go blank when the print button is clicked. Even if it didn't, it would still print all of the frames with that label, printing multiple copies of the same results screen. Initially I planned to tie all the quizzes to a single results page; one results page, one results frame, only one frame with the #p label, and is the only thing printed.

The problem there is, I need to be able to have a back button that goes back to a point in the category the user just finished; so they can take the test again if they want, or take another part of the test in that category. So my idea was to put all of the dynamic text fields and the print button, inside a movie clip. All the text boxes have maintained their names and have embedding enabled. All of the actionscript, on any level of that frame, has been placed accordingly into the movie clip - and yet the dynamic text boxes will not populate with the score like they do outside the movie clip.

Worst still, the print button wont work at all inside the movie clip. Clearly I'm missing something, but I can't be that far off base in thinking this would work, am I? If I can make the movie clip show the results and work the print button, then I can use instances of the movie clip in as many frames as I need, but the only place the script or label for the print button will exist, is inside the movie clip. This is the script for the button putting the data into the text fields.
