I have a rectangular sprite and I would like to add a "X" on top of the rectangle. How would I go about to do this? I am happy to either draw two lines to form a "X" or to draw the letter "X" on top of the sprite. I would rather draw the "X" programatically than to use some embedded image in the library.Here is the code I am using to draw the rectangle.
...
// Draw rectangle
var rect:Sprite = new Sprite();
rect.graphics.lineStyle(1, 0x000000, 1.0);
I have a head drawn in Adobe Flash CS5. I've converted it to a symbol. I want to be able to draw a mouth, add a frame, erase the mouth (without erasing the head), and draw a new mouth, and repeat. However, when I convert the head to a symbol the mouths I draw ontop of it do not show up, and appear behind the head. I know converting the mouths into symbols will fix this, but that would take too long, defeating the purpose of what I'm trying to do.Is there any way to draw on a symbol?
I'm wondering (based on scoping rules) how I might do the following: I want to draw to a sprite that exists on the main stage in which I have a class instantiated.
So something like
public function MyClass(reference:String){ this.reference = reference; }
[Code]...
Would I use super() in this case, or what's the usual methodology?
If I use the Pen tool and attempt to draw a line within a symbol, the anchor point on the other end of the line moves [out of my control] to the right. I'm not sure whether this is a bug or a feature, but I'm leaning towards the former; either way
I try draw one pixel width rectangle in a sprite. And add some tween on it to make some effect. But I find use the code below can't create exactly one pixel white rect. I created I want to create
I have run into strange behavior drawing a sprite into a BitmapData. This sprite looks fine when drawn directly to the screen. But when this sprite is drawn into a BitmapData, the sprite is being masked... but there is no such mask applied to that sprite! This "bad mask" can be toggled off and on... by applying / not-applying a different mask to the sprite I am drawing. This mask is not the same shape or location as the "bad mask".
I usually created a movieclip in flash and assign it to actionscript class(using export for actionscript method in its property panel) that exteds movieclip.but sometimes movieclip is just too heavy for that,is there any possible way to draw a sprite directly in flash(not by code),and control it in actionscript-3
how to draw a character like Sprite, so that I can do whatever I want with it.I've seen FIVe3D, which has an automated system which exports an AS file with a description about each of the characters (so that they are represented as motifs - it gets the edges of the glyph and parses it into a script with simple actions as lineTo and curveTo).But this example uses JSFL in order to parse the font (jsfl has functions like contours, interior, getHalfEdge, getControl).
I have many base images that I need to combine to construct larger images to draw on Sprite objects. I understand that the beginBitmapFill() method of the Graphics class renders a bitmap on a Sprite's graphics object. So I figure that I need to manipulate the BitmapData object, adding the base images to produce a composite image that I can then draw on my Sprite.
My question is: Is there any clean and relatively hassle free way of doing this? Is there a way to draw Bitmaps to certain locations in a Sprites graphics context? Could you copy a Graphics object onto another at certain coordinates and build it that way?
I'm making a copy of a Sprite via the BitmapData Draw method. It kind of works other than the top portion of the bitmap gets cut off (replaced with transparent pixels). It looks like it's about the same height as the Sprite's y value.
I created a class, extended the sprite class, and now in the constructor I am trying to set the Sprite's width and height properties which are inherited from the DisplayObject. However, after I set this.width and this.height, and print the values, I get 0 for both.
What the heck is going on? When I view the livedocs I see that DisplayObject has width and height listed as public properties. I have been able to instantiate a Sprite directly, and set the width and height after it's been instantiated, so I don't get it.
package { import flash.display.*; public class ScrollBar extends Sprite {[code].....
I am using the draw() method of the BitmapData to encode a jpeg of part of the image. Now this should be easy enough given the object I want to draw to the bitmap is on the stage at design time so I know its location and dimetions exactly! Heres the code I have in place.
Code: var myBitmapSource:BitmapData = new BitmapData ( street.width, street.height, false, 0x333333); myBitmapSource.draw(street, null, null, null, new Rectangle( 96, 5, 571, 450 ), true );
I know for a FACT that no part of the street clip I am drawing out is in negative space, and it's registration is (0,0). However, it cuts off A lot of the top of my image. y=5 in the above rectangle is where I need the top to be, but it cuts the top off of the image... even if I change it to 0, it has no effect.
I'm doing a simple rotation on a sprite but there's a weird behavior where the sprite does not rotate around it's top left. I think I'm rotating along the top left of the test class instead of the sprite child. I would like to rotate the rectangle around it's top left corner (kinda like a clock hand). The code is pretty short so I'll let the code + pictures explain my problem:
package { import flash.display.Sprite;
[Code]....
I've read a lot of stuff about rotating around a fixed point, I've tried doing it with movieclips instead of sprites, I even copy pasted a tutorial on rotation and nothing works.
Then the numericStepper is drawn as if it is squished to 20% its normal height. If I pre-set mySprite width and height before adding the numericstepper, the trace output is 0,0 after adding it and it is not displayed at all. Is there some way I can make the sprite only adjust to correctly fit the numericStepper OR resize it afterwards without distorting the numericStepper component?
I have a project in Flash Professional CS5 and ActionScript 3.
I have a movieclip symbol (referred herein as "background" with scripts on various keyframes inside of that symbol. I need to hide or show another symbol (referred herein as "object") sharing a stage with "background".
To put it another way, I need "object" to be hidden when "background" reaches a certain internal keyframe. However, as "object" and "background" are both children of the same stage, how do I do this?
what i want to do is, when certain button is clicked, replace a certain symbol(button) by another symbol(movieclip) stored in the library. i try things like loadmovie("","") to replace the symbol from a external jpg, but some how it does not align even both images are exact dimension. can i replace an image straight from the library?
I'm trying to do some lean blitting for an object that rotates by rotating it once at startup and capturing a BitmapData snapshot of each 5 degrees. The problem I'm having is that the draw() method of the BitmapData object is only picking up pixels in the MovieClip that are below and to the right of the registration point. If I change the MC so that the registration point is in the top left corner, I sometimes get what looks like most of the pixels, but the entire object rotates into and out of the frame, since it's rotating around the corner and not the center.
I animated eyes blinking inside of a movie clip symbol and placed the symbol on a face outside of the symbol.The eyes are stuck on the first frame. I am using CS5. What do I do?
How do i get the hitTest() function to test if a certain symbol is hitting another symbol, but, only if drawn parts of the symbol are touching, not thier outer bounds.
Basically there's an object in a movieclip. I want to find the location of that object in relation to the movieclip, not of the object's symbol. So when i look at the x and y of it, it wont show 0, it will show the x and y location in the movieclip it's in.
I'm, trying to create a duplicate symbol and then be able to drag the symbol around the screen.I have an image - once converted to a button and on the stage as paddock_btn. The other converted to paddock_mc in the library, with a linkage identifier of "paddock".I want to be able to click the button, and create a duplicate, which can be dragged and placed on the screen.Unfortunately, I don't get any output errors here.
Code:
//create a function to duplicate paddock function dupe_paddock():Void { i = i + 1;
first i have 2 sprite.. it`s mcproduct sprite and mcproductpane sprite . mcproductpane is a parent of mcproduct sprite.. so inside mcproductpane there a several mcproduct sprite.this is a script of mc prodcut
PHP Code:
[Code]...
The problem is i want to set a button in here(mcproductpane sprite), this button will unload / make dissappear an image that i load using loader class in mcproduct sprite..how can i make this happen?when i want to make a button in mcproductpane sprite which the function of the button it`s to unload/make an image that i load using loader class in mcproduct sprite disappear.
I need to be able to draw a thick patterend line between 2 points in AS3, I can't use the draw API because it doesn't all me to actually put detail (pattern etc) into the thickness of the line, I thought about perhaps using the line to create a bitmap version and then using that as a mask, but I remember many years ago seeing some examples that use a movieclip as a source for a line.
So i've done SOME work with flash and AS3, right now i'm working on a website for my boss, he bought some template online which has stuff laid out and animated and everything already, now I just have to integrate our content.My issue is this, I've got 2 symbols on the screen, one of which contains alot of buttons that list our services as company, the second symbol contains the content (or descriptions) of those services, which on are separate keyframes.What I'm trying to accomplish is that when you hit the button in "symbol A", it affects the "symbol B" and goes to the corresponding keyframe.For example when I click "button 2" in "symbol A", "symbol B" goes to keyframe 2.Now if they were in the same symbol it would be something like
