ActionScript 2.0 :: Drag To Rotate Circle And Ring Independently?

Jun 5, 2005

I have this problem...no worries it is only about ActionScript! I have created two movieclips: one is called "sun_mc" (with a nice smile) and a ring of sunrays (short and long ones) called "ring_mc".the ring is situated around the sun.

The user clicks the sun and drags to rotate it.The user can click the ring to rotate that too.When the sun is rotating...the ring should not be...and vice versa.

I have three problems...

1) I can't get the two mc's to move independently 2) When rotating the mouse position always jumps to a certain point on the movieclip...not the point where you clicked it first 3) The ring is also rotating when the mouse is outside the ring...

What should I do?I tried to obscure a part of the ring_mc with some masking...That didn't work.Should I try hitTest? And how should I do that? That only works with squares doesn't it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Rotating Circle From Center With Mouse/

Jan 31, 2010

I have been working on this and thinking about it for days but I just can't seem to get it right. I want to have a circle that I can "pick up" with the mouse and then rotate (with the rotation point in the center). Currently I have done this with the following code:

PHP Code:

var radians = Math.atan2(mouseY-circle.y, mouseX-circle.x);
var degrees = Math.round((radians*180/Math.PI));
circle.rotation = degrees + 90;

I have added a mouse listener for movement to the circle mc and then checked if a button was down. On button down this code would be executed on enter frame. This code works but the main problem is that I want to be able to "pick the circle up" at any angle and rotate it. If I pick it up with this code the circle automatically rotates to 90 degrees.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing A Partial Circle?

Nov 29, 2010

I'm moving on with my optics system in Box2D (which seems to run into its share of kinks and platform limitations, but that's a subject for another time) and I expect to have the need for a way to procedurally draw sprites for varying shapes of lenses.Really, the critical component of this process seems to be the ability to draw partial circles. By this, I mean a part of a circle if it were divided from the whole by a straight line through the circle's interior.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Calculating Mouse's Angle To The Center Of A Circle

Sep 17, 2011

I have a circle with 8 dots around the edge of it. Based on the center of the circle and the mouse's location, I want the dot that the mouse is closest to, to get bigger. I've got this so far ActionScript Code: angle = Math.atan2(rt.mouseY - y, rt.mouseX - x); But I'm getting some weird quadrant values returned that are between -3 and 3. Is there a way to know which degree out of a 360 circle my mouse is at in regards to the center of the circle?

ActionScript 3.0 :: A Perfect Half Circle Using Only The Drawing API?

Dec 17, 2008

any techniques they use to draw a perfect half circle?

I've seen the curveTo() method, and I cannot seem to make it come out with anywhere nearly good enough results. It always looks like half of a skewed ellipse.

I don't *want* to use a mask -- since there will be other drawings on this same Sprite that I do not want masked.

To be even more picky -- I don't *want* to create the half circle in another Sprite and add that to my original drawing.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing Arc Of Circle And Adding Alpha

Jun 5, 2010

I'm trying to construct an animation illustrating the angle of a circle.The user types in a value and the handle gets rotated on a timer tick. (Press Enter or the ndra-button to see the effect): Example So far so good.Now - my problem is when the rotation gets bigger than 360 degrees. I would like the arc's alpha to get darker, to see it draw upon the "existing" arc line. But I don't know how to do that and I can't find code for doing it, either.[code]The DrawingShapes.drawArc method comes from here.If anyone could point me in the right directon on how graphic updating works. I tried not removing the lineHolder from stage when it's updated, but that just made the line's alpha 1 instantly. I would like it to "gradually" get filled in when the arc exceeds 360 degrees.

-Make another rectangle and snap its left edge to the right edge of the first rectangle.

How would you make it so movement doesn't happen at the registration point but on the whole arm. Say i ran a rotation script on the upper arm with +=1 and the lower arm with +=2. How would you place the parts, what format would they be converted to and what would the script format be. Multiple methods would be welcome of course!

ActionScript :: Drawing An Image In The Center Of A Shape?

Oct 20, 2011

I'm trying to draw an image in actionscript, I set it as a BitmapFill within a rectangle. The problem is that if I move the rectangle away from the origin(0,0), in my case I start drawing the rectangle at (20,35), the bitmap background doesn't follow along. The background is always drawn at (0,0) and then repeated, so I don't get a centered image but rather 2 halved images. Here's what my code looks like:

public class PageTileRenderer extends VBox
{
private var sp:Shape;

[Code]....

how to move the background fill origin. Or is there another solution to draw the image centered.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Atan2 Outputs The Following Angle Scheme - Assuming The Point Relative To Which The Math Is Done Is In The Center Of The Circle

Sep 16, 2011

So let's begin. I want to build a wheel which you can spin, similar to a roulette wheel. You can do this both ways (CW and CCW, this issue causing the bug, actually). The wheel has some acceleration to it too, and I achieve this by measuring the start and final angle of the drag movement, using Math.atan2(dy, dx). The problem is the following: atan2 outputs the following angle scheme, assuming the point relative to which the math is done is in the center of the circle.

atan2 returns a value measured in radians, so I'm using the classic angle*180/Math.PI formula. I've changed this original scheme into the following, using some simple math to shift the angles a bit, to resemble more accurate circle angles (going up to 360 degrees) The problem that I'm facing at the moment is should the user decide he wants to swipe clockwise, and moves through the right point, where 0 turns into 360 or 180 turns into -180, the whole angle difference thing is capsized. It registers a CCW movement (as if the user swiped his mouse all around the circle). So, I'm looking for some ideas as to how I can work around this small issue.

After, a radioButton is selected, if the user clicks the spacebar the Button fires. So, as I understand it focus was switched to the button. ActionScript 2.0 :: Calculate The Direction And Speed A Circle Has After Colliding With A Static (non-moving) Circle?

Mar 8, 2005

I'm developing a game atm, and I need some help on the mathematics/coding of colliding circles (and their change in x/y speed). What i need to know is how to calculate the direction and speed a circle has after colliding with a static (non-moving) circle. I know how to detect a collision between the two, but I'm not sure about the maths I need to give the circle the right speed and direction after the collision

If i do know how far away the two circle-points (in the middle of each) are to each other (in both x and y coords) would it be easy for me to find the new speed and direction of the large circle in the example above? I know that I somehow should use the angles to pretend the circle hits a flat "wall" (as it only hits one point), and then calculate the new speed/direction. My only problem is that I'm not sure how to decide the angle of this flat "wall" and how x and y speeds should change when colliding with a wall that is angled. Does anyone here have any insight, links or tips on how I can du this?
