ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Text From File, Doesn't Show In IE?
Jan 28, 2010
Our friend IE is destroying my life again. I've made this thing that loads the text from a .txt file. This works fine in every browser but IE. Here's the thing:[url]....click the green thing on the right and the green lightbox that pops up should contain som text and does so in every browser but IE.and here's a snippet of the sourcecode for one of the fields:
Code:
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(new URLRequest("kampanj_text.txt") );
loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
function completeHandler(event:Event):void { [code]........
I'm trying to make text disappear and appear letter by letter, so i'm using dynamic text. I've made this code which should do this, the only problem is that the text won't show up. I used trace to check what does the dynamic text box contains after the code has done it's job and it contains what it should. So I don't really understand where the problem is. I've embeded all the lowercase letters since I'm only using those... I don't know what else to add here... except the code offcourse:
Code: if (_root.butonselectat<>"") { stop();
[Code]....
Ignore all the "ifs" they just make the code do it's job when it should. And it seems that they work correctly. The first "for" cycle removes the text letter by letter and it only works if there is some text in the dynamic textbox while the second "for" adds the text letter by letter. I have the same code on two keyframes in the first layer and the the dynamic textbox on the second layer with only one keyframe.
I just want to know why a dynamic text doesn't show in the swf movie.Let me explain a little more: I have a mc within a main time line in wich is another mc,this mc have photos and a dynamic text who must be scrolled to view all of it,but the text doesn't appears! Below you will see a snapshot of the mc where you can see the level of it also.I've checked the actions script but there's no problem with it. here is the AS:
My dynamic textfield doesen't show special characters (%&+...). I have emped the font(uppercase, lowercase, numerals, PUNCTUATION and basic latin) and I've also tried to render it as html.for example:flash.addVariable("newtext"," Word & word2");AC2myTextfield.text = _root.newtext;then it prints just "word", because flash doesen't understand character & as a text format;locally it worked finemyTextfield.text = "Word & word2;";
I made text box, typed some text, converted it to a movie clip, named etc. Used a purchased and proven scroller component ... followed directions to the letter, including referencing/linking the files. However, when I tried to test the scroll bar .... the scroll bar appears, scrolls and works perfectly except the text does not appear. I have tried making a scroll bar with the UIscrollbar same thing happens. I made an other attempt and put pics along with the text in the movie clip ... this time the pics appeared and scrolled, but the text still would not appear.
I have a textfield in a MovieClip that I'm trying to change out from an external class. It appears to return back as empty on the stage, but if I trace what's inside there it gives me the correct value, it just doesn't show up.
My code is this:
((this.parent.parent.getChildByName('bottomBar') as MovieClip).getChildByName('area_txt') as TextField).text = 'test';
So if I trace "((this.parent.parent.getChildByName('bottomBar') as MovieClip).getChildByName('area_txt') as TextField).text" it returns "test" but it doesn't display on the stage, it's just blank.
I'm trying to load a external .swf into an MC container but the external .swf has dynamic text that loads from an xml, when I view it through the other .swf which contains the container the text doesn't show up.
I tried a sample code I found online but the text doesn't show up. Is there something wrong with this code? [code]When I run this code, there is no text displayed. If I hover the mouse to the upper left corner, the cursor turns into an I beam, but there is no text. The whole page is just white.
I'm working on a flash file that is a video clip and beneath the video, there's an input text field where a user can get the code to embed the video in their page (youtube code). The problem is that when I have plain text in the text field it works, but when I try to use html code, I get an actionscript error and it doesn't show up. This is my actionscript (leaving out the full url):
I'm making videos for an instructional program. This involves importing audio, images, animating those images, etc. I'll be exporting to flv format at the end, and then converting them to MP4 for downloads online.H
1.) Should I be using ActionScript 3.0 or ActionScript 2.0 for this?
2.) When I try to import audio, the whole audio file doesn't show up immediately in a new layer that I've created. It only goes in the blank keyframe that I've inserted. How do I import the audio so that the entirety of it shows up?
I have some issue with the [embed] tag. Even if I set the embedFonts property of the textfield to true the text doesn't show up.The thing is that it worked previously and after some changes (not related to fonts) it doesn't. I'd like to understand how the embed process for font works to find the error in my code.
I declare :
[Embed(source = 'asset/font.ttf', fontName="font", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype")] private static var font:String;
to assign the font to the program.Then i call "font" when declaring my textFormat. Is the "fontName" property the link with the textformat ?I work with flashdevelop and the flex_sdk_4.0.0.14159 (the big adobe one, with air (~140mo))
I am dynamically creating a form on runtime of my application. The content of my form item (lets call it MyFormItemContent) looks like this (simplified):
If the validation of MyValidator has errors a red frame apears around the BorderContainer as intended. But unfortunatly the error text that should apear right to the form item doesn't. I'm thinkin it's a layout problem because I define the validator inside the form item content before adding it to the form. I've already debugged this and read documentations a lot.
In a nutshell, I'm trying to create a dynamic text box in which text show up for one XML node but not for another, so I have some XML nodes that have info in them and others that don't. This seems like it would be a realatively easy thing to do, but I've been working on figuring out how to do so for days with no avail. I'm working on a template for my portfolio gallery at: [URL] I've linked pdfs to just some of the images in my modified xml slideshow from the tutorial using the following code from this forum:
I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.
Attachment 54101my problem is in bitmap explained:1. after loading external text into dynamic text field,2. how to call/make visible "button over text" on the Scene by pointing a mouse over specific word in loaded external text?3. javascript, html, actionscript (asfunction, variable)
suppose i have one input text filed,and one dynamic text field,i want,when i enter value in input text filed then these value show on dynamic text filed [input text box] =[dynamic text box].how show value in dynamic text from input text filed
I've seen similar threads but couldn't find one with the exact same issue. I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.
I have a dynamic text on the stage which gets updated (shows numbers) when some buttons are pressed.I just need to know if it is possible to show the first dynamic textfield in another dynamic textfield.Lets say the first dynamic textfield called "price" and the second one called "price2". when a button is pressed, the first dynamic textfield "price" will show a number. is it possible to show whatever is shown in the "price" in "price2" ?
I'm attaching several movieclips onto the stage inside a for-loop and populating a dynamic textfield within the moviclip inside the same loop.Tracing the texfield.text shows the proper value in the Output console. However, the text value is not visible on the stage. I've drew a shape next to the dynamic textfield just to make sure the movieclip is being properly attached. I can see the shape but there is no text next to it.
Code: var xPos=200; for(var i=0; i<image_list.length; i++){[code].....
Ok so when I test the file in Flash it appears totally fine and works...as an swf on it's own, it also works just fine. (I have a text box, mask, scrollbar etc etc). Text is loaded externally and seems to be happy and error free...
When I test the swf on a html web page, i can see the scrollbar and arrows etc, but none of my text appears. I've tried embedding the font characters but that doesn't help either.
This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
basically i have dynamic text fields that i have been trying to parse to an xml file. when i test the movie it does not work, all the fields are blank. but the info DOES show up in the output tab, so i know that it is making the connection.... it just doesnt show up in the movie. weird.here is my actionscript:
var xml:XML=new XML();xml.ignoreWhite=true;xml.onLoad=parseXML;xml.load("popup.xml"); function parseXML(){trace(this);{ if (success) var diagramNode=this.firstChild; var
If anyone has a minute, can you look at this script and spot the flaw. I got it fron[URL].. It MOSTLY works, the bar travels across as it is loading, but the dynamic elements (percent loaded, # of bytes loaded vs. # bytes total) are blank areas. Haven't a clue. I can e-mail you the Flash file, I saw no provision to upload it to this Forum.
I'm using text that is set to "dynamic text". In actionscript 3 I tried: instancename.text = "abc"; trace(instancename.text); Trace returns "abc" when I test the movie but the appearance of the text doesn't change.
In action script 2 I tried: var1 = "abc"; instance1._text = "def"; trace(var1 + instance1._text); Trace returns "abcdef" when I test the movie but the appearance of the text doesn't change.
