ActionScript 3.0 :: Execute Code Before Main Class Constructor?

I have flash application with main document class, components which are on the scene are instancied at runtime, contrustor of these components are call before main class, but i'd like to execute code before main class and components instanciation, how can i do this ? i tried to create an actionscript layer at frame 1 but still not work.

I'm writing an Air application using only Actionscript, and Flex3 SDK as the compiler. Everything compiles and runs fine under adl, but when the final air file is built and installed, the main class is never initialized.[code]When run under ADL, "Init" will be output to the console, but when installed and run, nothing happens (the constructor for class main is never called).

I modified an Adobe Flash CS5 sample to create a swf with a preloader. In my FLA I've two stopped frames:In the first frame I only put this code (and a textfield showing percentage):[code]When I test the Adobe sample (it has no main class on frame 2, only a large image) anything works fine, but when I compile the modified version I get strange errors. In the Main class constructor I reference three movieclips, eg. this way: myClip.alpha=0, but it seems now Flash can't see them anymore (they are null). Why?

my movie is linked to an external class called game, and in the game cosntructor I am trying to access instances on my stage. I have tried MovieClip(root).instancename, root.instancename and even tried adding an event listener to listen when the movie is done loading because I thought maybe it was because the instances on the stage weren't created before the constructor is ran. This is the main class, shouldn't it be easy?

I'm learning how to work with a document class. Using the class below, I am learning that this initiates immediately when running the Fla. The problem is that the "scrol" Movieclip is not present in the first frame, which is a menu with a list of topics. Scrol comes later in and is in it's own section/frame label and goes to that section when selected from the main menu of topics.
Is there a way I could call this action only when the Movieclip is present or when that section is shown? Also, I'd like to apply it to other movieclips, not just scrol. Underneath se = new SwipeEngine(scrol,400,0); can I just add a duplicate line but change the mc name? A possible concern is that the mcs may be different sizes in length and might not need to scroll as far.

Got to the point where the hole in my AS3 knowledge is getting large!Realising I have confusion about the relationship of:Body of code on first frame of AS3 file.(Which I have so far used to create instances of library objects using addchild and make calls to class code).Is this code called the document code? What do people call it?Numerous classes linked together by extending each other etc.Library objects (usually graphical objects)Should it be done differently? have the following problems due to lack of understanding:Addchild complicated from a class but straight forward in main body code.Cant call functions on the main body code from classes, because class code does not know the main body code exists?

I have no trouble invoking a Class using the code on the main timeline shown below; var testClass:MyClass = new MyClass(); //code on maintimeline invoke Class. However, if I were to remove this code and just use the Flash Class Input Field and insert; MyClass //the name of the Class. I get throwback errors:
1 - Call to possible addFrame Script?
2 - MyClass must subclass flash.display.MovieClip etc
I've tried variations of adding and removing the flsh.display.MovieClip Class

Can I place all of my .fla AS3 code in a class called main.as?I dont want to run my as3 project from the .fla but how do I start the main.as?my .fla file looks like this and I dont know how to put this into a class?Do I simply do this in line 1 of fla file?

I am getting a strange issue in Flash CS5. I have a .fla file that was working fine up until recently. Now, when I Ctrl-Enter to Test Movie...nothing happens.
I have a Document Class set up (and when I click the pencil button, it opens up the right script, so Flash knows where the code is) called Main. In the constructor, there is a trace('Main()') just so I know the constructor got called, but that trace isn't showing up. A few days ago this same code was working fine, so i'm guessing I knocked around a setting or two in the IDE (not sure which, since Flash has the classpath set correctly)[code]...

Im working on a small project for school and im drawing a stickfigure with action script by drawing a line from his body to a moving point which represents his hand. the line bends at the elbow when the arm comes close and keeps a steady length. I've got 1 arm working perfectly fine but for the other arm and legs i want to do the exact same thing but i dont want to copy/paste all the code and change all the variables for each arm. How can i get AS3 to use the same code but just change the input and output variables?

i'm wondering how flash works when it comes to executing code. when exactly does it begin executing onEnterFrame actionscript, and what determines fps? for example, if you have your movie/game/whatever set to run at 60 frames per second, does flash wait 1/60th of a second before it begins executing code and determining how to draw everything, and then finally loads the frame when all the necessary code has been executed? or does it begin to do things in advance, before the frame is scheduled to be loaded?

I'm having a weird behaviour with some some classes that I'm making. It seems that the Boolean values from arguments get changed on the way. I have two classes. On is called Carousel and the other Activity. The Carousel main task is to instantiate several Activity objects and place them in a way that resembles a carousel. This part is done, but there's a problem passing arguments from Carousel to Activity. Some data to instantiate the Activity come from an XML file. The XML resembles something like this:

I have a hard to track down bug. Basically, in the main class, in the constructor, I load an xml file.Sometimes it fails to load, without giving an error. Then, when I refresh the page, it loads.It seems like it might be some kind of race condition, but I'm not %100 sure. I though about firing the xml loading code off a timer after one second, but that seems messy.

I am creating a Weapon class for a game and the weapons itself will be the sub classes. The sub classes will hard code some values (such as max ammo and the weapon name).
I trying to access this declared data in the base class constructor, at the moment it's not outputting the values. Is this possible?
I've broken my Weapon class for simplicity:

My current workaround is creating a protected method in the base class to trace the information and calling that method in the sub class's constructor, this works fine but this doesn't seem like the most efficient technique?

So I have a quick movie clip and when that clip finished I want to do the following:

I have been trying everything I can find to have code start on the window.onload event that uses callbacks exposed via the ExternalInterface. I've had many of the attempts working in IE, but Firefox is causing me grief.I tried simply calling the code via an "onload=" statement in the body tag for starters, but that didn't work because (I'm assuming) the Flash piece wasn't loaded when onload was called. So I tried putting a line in the Flash that calls a javascript function once it's loaded up. I tried this both by putting the ExternalInterface.call statement in a "this.onLoad=function(){" block as well as just putting the call at the end of the statements on frame 1 of my presentation (with a stop() on the frame) - either way it isn't happening in Firefox.I also tried using a setInterval in Javascript to test to see if one of the methods exposed via the ExternalInterface is an object (or not undefined). Once again, it's working in IE, but not in Firefox.[code]
The only other thing I can think of at the moment is using the swfObject for writing the flash tags to the page, but I'm already writing them from an external file (and removing the IE "Click to activate this control" issue in the process). All these methods work fine after the initial load (although I also had issues with Firefox when I simply try to call the onload instructions after a setTimeout command as well).

L1: LoginScreen.enterBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, checkLogin);
L2: map.visible=true;
it will execute checkLogin function but stuck at Line 1. how do i make it run Line 2?
