ActionScript 3.0 :: Fixed Movieclip Not To Change Dimensions If The User Starts Playing With The Dimensions Of His Screen
Jan 31, 2012
What do I have to write to keep the movieclip not to change dimensions if the user starts playing with the dimensions of his screen ? I remember it was a line of as3 written at the beginning.
I'm using a square shaped container (content_holder) to load movie clips which have a lot of animations spilling off the stage.In my container I have a mask which fixes this so all you see is the content within the square.PROBLEM: The width and height of content_holder is not accurate, as it also counts the overflowing animation which is MASKED. As a result this messes with my ability to center and manipulate the clip because its width/height is constantly changing.
QUESTION: Is there a simple way to load a movieclip into a container and LOCK its dimensions to a specific size? So the width is always fixed to the container's OR prevent the masked content from adding to the clip's width & height values?

I want to display an image, and it should be transformed like this:If for example, my original image is 200x300 pixels in size, I want it to have a width of 150, and then scale the height accordingly. Then I want to crop the image, so that the result has a dimension of 150x150 pixels.
In AS3, I have a Sprite that has a Z axis rotation applied.How do I calculate that Sprite's dimensions (it's original size) from Sprite.rotationZ and Sprite.getRect(...)?
I am Developing a flash site, I made it full screen and centered the content my flash contains a jpg photo with a certain size. My question is I want my site to be full screen and fit the window dimensions and the content will be scaled depending on the screen dimensions without the content being bad quality whatever the screen resolution (1042*786 or 800*600) or any dimensions. I want to make my site looks the same for all screens. I reached to make the flash full screen with no margin but with no scale means that it will be fixed at certain dimensions i choose it inside the swf dimensions. I want to know how to make my content full screen and scalled at any screen dimensions. How to make this without the quality is affected and if there is a certain dimensions that the flash must be of.
I am working on a project right now that requires user input of dimensions to draw a bike. I am using actionscript to draw the bike on top of some bitmap images. the problem I am running into, is that the actionscript will not draw on top of the images. The images are on a layer below the layer with the actionscript.
But for some reason, which I don't get is that when I do no_scale, the .swf window resized to 760x620, and I have these 20 pixels at the top, which are less than zero in Y, if I leave that line out, my graphics on the screen (isometric tiles) look distorted but the screen stays at 600 px in height.
iv been trying for awhile now to get a few of the buttons im using on a site to change dimensions when i hover
basically i would like the button background to change dimensions and extend length wise to the other end of the web page whenever the mouseover appears the lenght of the botton extends smoothly and also goes back to its original size smoothly without snapping back
iv read lots of tutorials (got adobe flash cs4 book) but its all about moving images and so forth not really dimensions
if anyone can point out a tutorial or knows how to resolve this
i'm using AS3 and I'm trying to change the stage dimensions to get bigger when I press a button. The current dimensions are 550 x 700, and I thought the code:import flash.events.MouseEvent;btn.addEventListener(Mouse Event.CLICK, makeStageBigger);function makeStageBigger(evt:MouseEvent) {stage.stageWidth = 800;stage.stageHeight = 900;}would work, but nothing happens. I'm getting no errors or anything, but when I click the button, it doesn't work.
I have a Sprite object on the stage. What I should do in order to change the dimensions (viz.,size,colour, or both ,etc) of this Sprite object, when it gets clicked?My sample code looks like this:
Code: var circle:Sprite = new Sprite(); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onStage); function onStage(e:MouseEvent):void {
I've developed a game in the dimensions 1024x1280.I realize now what a massive mistake that was..My question is, is there any way to make the dimensions smaller dynamically or by using the IDE WITHOUT manually revamping everything (I'm not willing to do this )
I've got a resize listener where I change my movieclips' dimensions and positions.[code]But how I set the minimum allowed resize of the stage?I don't want the stage to be smaller than 1024x600 for example.
How can I get a jpeg that loads with the loadmovie command to fit to the dimensions of a movieclip that is being used as its "place holder"? Also if this image starts off initially at a much larger resolution than the place holder movieclip and therefore has to be shrunk down to start with, what happens when browser window is then resized to a larger window? (i.e the whole flash movie is enlarged). Will the image be stretched from the size it has been shrunk down to or will it still reference that external file? So if the image was larger than the site would ever need it to be would it look the best quality at all times?
I'm working on a map project with several movie clips that are dragged and dropped onto their respective movie clips.
PROBLEM: Initially, draggable movie clips are reduced their original size. When they are dropped onto their matching movie clip, I would like them to take the dimensions of the movies placed on the map. How to do that?
HERE IS MY CODE stop(); var startX:Number;var startY:Number;var finalX:Number;var finalY:Number; var finalWidth:Number;var finalHeight:Number;
i've one movile clip,i want several instances of dat movieclip randomly spread in the specified dimensions of stage.dis is simple but i want 2 start from one location then they should stop ramdomly and at radom palces wid random speed [URL] in above site ,if u click portfolio button u can see d red movieclip movement.
I have the following code which simply loads an external swf, puts it in the right place and should all be hunky dory.This works:
Code: var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); addChild(myLoader); var url:URLRequest=new URLRequest("foobar.swf");[code].....
to set the dimensions of the loader so the external swf doesn't 'spill over', the result is a blank screen. No matter how high I set those dimensions it just doesn't display anything.
I am wondering if it's posible to set the backgroundcolor of the stage through as3 code.i am also wondering if it's possible to set the stage height and stage width through the code. for the application i wish to develop, the values of the stage color and the stage dimensions are provided by an XML file.
I have a flash app for web which is 971x570. I am planning to make it into iOS app and was wondering if I can do it with 971x570 dimensions or will have to use 480x320 px dimension as provided in the iOS template in Flash CS5 and thus modify my content.
I have two swf files. I want to place one within the other. Is there anyway I can set the dimensions of the swf I place within the other one? I would have published it a smaller size, but it dont allow me to change the size in the settings of a swf, just the html version.
When I change the dimensions on a document, and for example make it taller, the background becomes taller in the direction DOWN. But.. how do I make it go up, if you know what I mean? When I make the dimensions taller, why cant it increase up?
the banner i just created was the size of my browser when i opened it on the internet, how do i get the banner to act within its dimensions (468 px by 100 px)
I want to load an image using loadMovie,.. and then dynamically draw a border arround it... but i need to get the dimensions of the pic... I dont know why bt using _root.container.img.pic._width isn't working... I mean it is drawing the border but very small and not even close to the dimensions of the pic. What can I do ?

I have a long log in a simple TextField, simply adding new lines of text when needed. I wanted to make some of the lines different color but while adding new line (simply as myTextField.text += '' + log; ) all the previous text formatting is erased. There is a tiny note in the doc:Notice that any text inserted manually by the user, or replaced by means of the replaceSelectedText() method, receives the text field's default formatting for new text, and not the formatting specified for the text insertion point.If I get it right the I want to load an image using loadMovie,.. and then dynamically draw a border arround it... but i need to get the dimensions of the pic...I dont know why btusing_root.container.img.pic._width isn't working... I mean it is drawing the border but very small and not even close to the dimensions of the pic.
I have about 50 QuickTime movies that are different dimensions. I need to export them to be FLV's and I need them to all be the same dimension. I want to put them in a queue so I don't have to do each one manually. Is there a software that I can use to do this?
hello everybody. I have a very weird problem. Recently my Flash IDE started to mess up dimensions. I mean when I create a new document or a rectangle for example, even if I set the height and width to the same value the height is always bigger than the width... I tried re-installing Flash CS4 again but that didn't solve the problem...
