I have a Sprite object on the stage. What I should do in order to change the dimensions (viz.,size,colour, or both ,etc) of this Sprite object, when it gets clicked?My sample code looks like this:

What do I have to write to keep the movieclip not to change dimensions if the user starts playing with the dimensions of his screen ? I remember it was a line of as3 written at the beginning.

When you load a object through flash, you can set the rotational/scale point, but when you load it as a loader object or sprite, how do you change this point?
In this instance, I want to change the height of a sprite that is filled with a rectangle so that it shrinks down, not up.
Right now:

The way I am doing it currently is moving the y position everytime I take away soem of the height, so it looks like it's moving down, but I'd think moving the orientation point at the beginning would be faster

I have a brick class where I have created a rectangle using flash.display.graphics.I am using this brick class to create a grid of 10 X 10 in another class called grid using new brick() in a for loop.I have another class called ball where I have created a circle with flash.display.graphics.The problem is that I want to remove / destroy individual bricks when the ball hits the bricks on Event.ENTER_FRAME which is not happening.the error I get is shown only for the last brick that is created in a for loop.ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.
at flash.display:isplayObjectContainer/removeChild()

I have drawn intersecting lines. The user can click on a region inside the angle formed by the two lines.When the user clicks inside the area, the small region formed by the arc between the two lines showing the angle should change. How can I do that.the region between the intersecting lines is sprite object to dispatch event listener, but the arc is shape object.

iv been trying for awhile now to get a few of the buttons im using on a site to change dimensions when i hover
basically i would like the button background to change dimensions and extend length wise to the other end of the web page whenever the mouseover appears the lenght of the botton extends smoothly and also goes back to its original size smoothly without snapping back
iv read lots of tutorials (got adobe flash cs4 book) but its all about moving images and so forth not really dimensions
if anyone can point out a tutorial or knows how to resolve this

i'm using AS3 and I'm trying to change the stage dimensions to get bigger when I press a button. The current dimensions are 550 x 700, and I thought the code:import flash.events.MouseEvent;btn.addEventListener(Mouse Event.CLICK, makeStageBigger);function makeStageBigger(evt:MouseEvent) {stage.stageWidth = 800;stage.stageHeight = 900;}would work, but nothing happens. I'm getting no errors or anything, but when I click the button, it doesn't work.

I've developed a game in the dimensions 1024x1280.I realize now what a massive mistake that was..My question is, is there any way to make the dimensions smaller dynamically or by using the IDE WITHOUT manually revamping everything (I'm not willing to do this )

I transformed a sprite with a simple rotationX and I would like to get the projected dimensions of the latter, i.e. the dimensions as they appear on the stage (see picture here : i.imgur.com/7Ugrv.png)The sprite is not in the middle of the stage, so a simple Math.cos doesn't work.Is there any ActionScript method or math function to get the dimensions ?

Is there any way to get width/height of a loaded movie, excluding any area that is not displayed? My problem is that I am loading swfs to use as icons in a menu and am unable to get the desired width & height in order to calculate dynamic spacing based on how large the icons are. Most of the swfs where published with a document size of say 50 pixels x 50 pixels but some vary in dimensions. When I access the width or height property of the swf, I get a value that includes objects in the swf that fall out of bounds of the size set in the fla. Basically I get values that include areas that are effectively masked. So my 50x50 icon (that displays just fine), gets me a width of 63x86 or something like that. My sloppy workaround that I would like to replace was that I republished all of them with a extra property that I can read when I load them instead of using the width and height.

I'm having troubles getting the dimensions I'm looking for for a given display object. This display object has some transparent area to the top-left of the opaque content but to the bottom-right of 0,0. As such, the display object's reported width ONLY includes the opaque area, not the transparent area. For example:

I'm trying to take a bitmapdata snapshot of the display object, but when I do new BitmapData(myChild.width, myChild.height) and then draw into it I don't get the full opaque content of myChild drawn because the dimensions are too small.

I'm totally new to flash, and I'm trying to build a very simple app. I have one as file in which I defined my class which inherent from Sprite, with the name mySprite. I have a fla which is of the mySprite class, and a size of 400x400(I must assign a size when define the fla). my question is, when this flash is launched, I want to read some data from outside (width&height) and change the flash windows size to these specified size. I tried many ways, but can't succeed. Every time the flash is launched, window size is 400x400.

I'm attempting to write a racing game. I've loaded in my image, I brought it to the stage and now, all I want to do is rotate it from its' center and not upper left corner.
The code:
racer.rotation += 5;
rotates from the upper left corner. How do I rotate from the center of the car/sprite? I've tried putting it into a container but I'm unsure on the coordinates of the container because I tried to set the x,y coordinates to half the sprite image but y'know, it's not doing what I expect it to.

I have a PNG that is a child of sprite object. The PNG consists of a shape in the middle of a transparent background (the alpha value is zero). I want to change the color of the sprite, but I do not want to change the transparent background.

When the Tween takes place though it not only changes the width, it changes the height as if it were scaling it up in both directions. Why does this behavior take place? And how can I get it so that only the width changes? I have also tried using scaleX as the property but it does the same thing.

And I have tried ColorTransform, and that changes everything, even the border, which is not what I wanted. And I am not able to colortransform and then set the border color.
So how can I change the color of a sprite without changing the border color?

Detail: I am reading some data from SVG and getting them as Sprite objects; now I need to change the fill color of these sprite objects dynamically without affection the outline color. I gave it a try with ColorTransform but that changes everything in the object.

I'm attempting to draw a text box on the screen. If I assign width and height to any value, as in the code below, I don't see anything drawn. Why is this? What is the use of width and height? Adobe's docs say it's the width/height of the sprite in pixels. Why would that occlude or prevent the drawing of a textbox or another box? I assumed the width/height would set the area that this sprite could be drawn upon, but based on this, I'm probably wrong.
