I have got it to drag around and such, but i tried to use the drawing API to define the hotspot area but its not working.

I have a huge background bitmapdata with a corresponding grid. I'm trying to draw the two parts onto a different bitmapdata, but for some reason, the bitmap for the grid is overriding the bitmapdata of the background that is being drawn first. The grid seems to be making the entire third bitmapdata transparent for some reason.

I want to draw a grid on top of the background I have. For some reason, the grid is making the background underneath it transparent.

I'm making an animation wich draws a line after a moving object (circle on a guide line). this circle is a movieclip. and I have many lines to draw up, so i put many of them on separate scenes. I've created buttons from movieclips, and when pressed it draws a line. I got everything to work properly, but when one line is drawn, and you press the same button to get the same line drawn again I get the error code.. #1009 cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.I think that it's because the graphics is still there but i can't seem to clear it before it draws again.. Ive used graphics.clear (); but that just clears all, so when it "draws" again it doesn't show..only the movieclip-animation works. so what is the problem here?my code for the line drawing is:

I have an application that connects to a binary socket server running on port 2234. I use the python policy file server, which I downloaded from [URL], which runs on port 843. If the client app is trying to connect to a socket I can see that the server is receivng the request for a policy file and that it sends it to the client. However, in the client, I get a security sandbox error. How is this possible? And is it possible to check whether the client really received the policy file? BTW, here is my policy file:

I don't really get UncaughtErrorEvent working for my Air 2.6 application. if i step through the code with the debugger, i get very strange results.

Trying to implement the new FP 10.1 Global error handler into my projects but no matter what I do any uncaught error will still show up the Exception window (both in debug and release versions of the SWF). All I want to do is to prevent these popups but instead send a message to my logger. Here's my code ...

Just a minute ago my .fla file can be played. But after several minute when I added movie clips and animations. It just crashed down I guess, Adobe Flash CS3 stop working. I'm using Microsoft Vista operating system. I have an antivirus subscription which is McAfee with automatic update. I think it's a virus or what? I dunno what to do. I got a long way already with my animation on my file. When I will start from the very beginning it would be a mess and it will consumed a lot of time.Four to five attempts of testing the movie:

Basically I've got a reasonably complex drawing object in a fla and I want to reproduce it in a class definition using the drawing api. However obviously this is a tedious task, so is there some trick or automated method of doing this?
Last time I needed to do this it was a drawing of an arrow and I ended up writing down x,y,width,height values for everything but this one has curves in it which I don't have experience with drawing anyway.
I'm getting the "internet explorer has stopped working" error message every time I close IE after visiting [URL]. The Flash works while I'm on the site, but when I close the page I get that error. It only affects the one web page window that ran flash (I don't use tabs -- I use separate windows for all the pages I have open). If I disable Flash, IE doesn't crash anymore (but, of course, the site doesn't do what it's supposed to either). How is it possible that Flash can cause an error like that (even if a site's Flash code was imperfect)?
I'm using a Vista notebook PC, freshly reset to OEM virgin state before reinstalling all my software & configs about 10 days ago, so I'm using all the latest versions (MSIE8, Flash 10). I've tried unintalling & reinstalling Flash, but the crashing persists.
I cannot get this to work. Without the "var drawing", "var drawing being true or false" and the "if statement", it works fine. But I need to add the "var drawing" so that you can only draw if you turn it on by pressing the "draw_btn" button. Note, I do not get an error, the script "apparently" contains no errors. I've created a drawing tool which allows the user to draw on the canvas, the problem is that if I try to draw over a movieclip nothing happens. Is there a way I can allow for the user to draw over movieclips? For example if I had a background of paper?

which everything seems fine, but when i implement a slider on a page inside a folder in the root (i.e. aboutus/index.aspx) i get that error when the slider is trying to call the images.I have similar slider animations in pages located in the root folder and in those i get no problem at all, seems it only happens when the page is located inside a folder.The website is done using main.master on asp, maybe the cache or rendering of the website is missing something, hope someone has had something similar or know how to get around this.

I need to draw on stage about 40,000 4x4 squares each a different color. The color is determined by an xml file. I have this working in as2 and have converted it to as3 the problem is the amount of time it takes to draw is causing cs4 to time out. I have extended the script time out to 60 seconds. In cs3 as2 it would draw the squares in about 15 seconds. I was hoping as3 cs4 would improve performance but seems to be the opposite. I have tried several methods such as adding children and various drawing variations. the bellow seems to work the best, but is still causing flash to crash.

I'm working on a simple presentation website in flash that imports swf-banners onto the main page. This works, but I need a backgroundcolor and a border so the banners aren't seethrough. So I create another graphic element that puts itself underneath. All this works, but when I try to write a button to remove the "child" it only removes the imported swf (loader) but it can't remove the box underneath - even if I remove the loader-child completely. I get a "1120: Access of undefined property Kant." error

I'm getting this compiler error if I have my member variable directly referencing an existing instance in the same class/container. What I meant is that I can't have "private var movie:MovieClip" in my class to auto link to an existing movieclip of the same name in the same container.I used to do this in AS2 all the time. Is there a way to do this in AS3 instead changing the variable in my class and then do a m_movie = getChildByName("movie")

When my script is "correct", meaning, no more errors appear, the script doesn't work with the external swf. The error target the red "movie01" in the script but this reference was used already with success, why not this one? This script is working but with the error #1009:

Not sure if the problem is that javascript is not allowed in navigateToURL(), but the following code does not work as intended:

In the main class (DocumentClass) I have the following code to set up the preloader:[code]Although I am not getting any error messages, I have a strange issue going on where the first frame stays blank until the last second then flashes the preloader before going on to play the game.If you change the code "loadingPercent.setValue" to just "trace" you will notice that the game isn't even keeping track of the first 90% of the loading going on.
