ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Finding And Loading All Possible IDs?
Mar 25, 2011
I am not much of an action scripter or flash developer
Example
Code:
bla.php?id=0
What I am trying to do is load All possible Id's of a url(in xml format) to a List
Code:
var Loader:URLRequest = new URLRequest("[URL]");
I can load a single id by just doing
Code:
var Loader:URLRequest = new URLRequest("[URL]");
But this isn't what I want to do
How would I got about requesting / finding all possible ids and then display said id's or a certain part of each id to the list?

How do I find number of all the series (combinations of an array that have at least 3 consecutive values, like [7,8,9]) and have the longest number of values?
from [3,4,1,2,2] it would be 2 - ([1,2,3,4] twice, but ignore [1,2,3]*2 and [2,3,4]*2)
from [9,6,7,5,8] it would be 1 - ([5,6,7,8,9])
[Code]....
this will create an array ($ranks) that will have these values [2:2, 3:1, 4:1, 9:1]
from this I will be able to multiply the values under 2,3 ad4 4 and multiply them by 3, so I would get 2*1*1 * 3
how to find the consecutive values, and ignore ones that aren't (like the 9)

What is the simpliest way to find an occurance of some sequance of bytes (string) in a long byte array?
UPD: I tried to do
my_byte_array.toString().indexOf(needle_string);
the problem is that in flash/air string consist of utf8 characters, so indexOf will return value different from offset of "string" in a byte array (actually it's zip archive)

I've been following tutorials for reading in xml data, but I'm having trouble referencing the different nodes. In the following example I'm just trying to view.[code]No errors or anything.I don't get it. The xml loads in the first place, (trace(xml)), but I can't access the individual nodes.

I am however hosting an event at the end of this month to which I need countdown timer that counts down 30 minutes from when I begin playing the movie.
00:00:30:00 -> 00:00:29:55 and so on until the movie reaches 00:00:00:00.
If possible.. I'd like that movie to open an additional flash movie once that timer has reached 0, if that can be done. - But for now I'd just be happy with a simple countdown timer that counts down from 30 minutes.
Now I HAVE tried to utilize the various tutorials that are about, the problem is they all seem to be WAY too complex for what I'm looking to do here...As I said all I'm looking for is a flash document that will countdown from 30 minutes once i've opened the movie..

I'm looking for a SWF animation, something I could place on my webpage and input images via an admin section.So I would put the SWF in place, and then he would feed himself via an XML file I would do (or something like this) that I would construct with a PHP script from a MySQL database. The script would take randomly images from the DB.All I want is the SWF, I can organize myself with the XML/PHP/MySQL thing.
The animation (the SWF) has to be extensible, I mean, I want to specify the width and height of the animation and I want it to scroll from right to left continuously, at an average speed. This implies that the animation could be, let's say 900 pixels wide, there could be numerous images at the same time scrolling from right to left, all images would have to keep aspect ratio (the maximum height specified).

In Actionscript, I'm trying to work out the best way to create the shortest route between two point on the map above. I have all the distances.
Algorithms like A* I dont think are relevant as it is near impossible to work out the heuristic distance.
I thought I could create a big array of all the nodes with the distances to any connected nodes and just iterate through until Ive found the the shortest distance, but this I know is very inefficient.

I'm working on writing a tweening class in as2 that has a callback variable and I can't seem to find a good way to get the scope without specifically passing in a scope variable as well. This tweening class needs to work in classes as well as on the timeline. Here's what my codes looks like right now.params.scope[ params.onComplete ]( params.onCompleteParams );params is an object passed into the class. This works but I don't want to have params.scope in there.

I'm in the process of making a board game in Flash; as part of process of getting fully to grips with Flash AS3.
I have a JPEG of the original board. This contains ~ 1000 circles that players may move pieces between. Pretty standard board-game stuff. The circles are not in any way regularly spaced.
So far, I've drawn the circles in Flash, by hand, and positioned them where they need to be. This looks great - I can see all my places.
What I want to do now is create these circles programatically. I want to be able to do this so I can adjust how the spaces look (depending on game state). Eventually I'll want to be able to zoom / pan the entire game board as well.
My question is, is there a way of tagging each circle with a unique reference and then looping through and recording locations?
I'm thinking something a bit like the Javascript DOM "getElementsByTagName" or similar.
At the moment I can only see two options:
Convert each circle to a symbol and give it a unique class name so I can access it from code Go through and write down the X/Y of each circle (add to my DB of board locations that I already have) so I can plot them programatically

Basically I'm using the curveTo function to draw some lines for flight paths, what I'm not sure how to do is dynamically finding the curve points, so for example if you look at the ryan air site: [URL]
current_line.graphics.curveTo(curveX, curveY, map.mouseX, map.mouseY);
I need to find the curveX and curveY

I'm working with a large modular app, and most of the swfs were made in Flash Professional. When I load the app in the Flash Builder Profiler, the memory usage appropriately goes up and down as I add and remove modules. When I flip between two modules many times, I end up with the current memory in the Profiler more or less where I started at around 2 megs. System.totalMemory, however, shows that the flash player has only been allocating memory and is currently using 106 megs. Is there a certain bug known to do this, or is there a better way to detect memory leaks? I'm using the latest flash player debug version.
Note: The SWF modules are all permitting debugging, and the Profiler picks up objects in them.

I am trying to create a video feed screen that pulls in from 4 different usb cameras attached to my computer. As of now my file only pulls in the feed from the built in camera on my macbook pro. Here's the code I'm using to find the cameras. Anyone know how to find the external usb cameras? You can check it out and running at [URL] or grab the fla and see what's up.
ActionScript Code:
// Set up some new entries on the context menu for changing video capture size
var newMenu = new ContextMenu();
newMenu.hideBuiltInItems();

two balls are stationary on stage and I am dragging ball 1 between them. I want my program to deny the ability to do this (technical terms) and move the ball automatically to the closest point available that does not overlap either of the other two balls i.e. the left side of the dragged ball may touch but not over lap ball 3. I have a feeling the circular equation: (x-a)^2 + (Y-b)^2 = c comes into it but it may need pythagoras instead as the balls are all circular but not all the same size. The best way I can see for this is to write a multi-part equation for the bounds of boths balls and then finding the nearest point, but not sure how to do this in as3, perhaps using the 'for each' tag.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to isolate the pixels that are adjacent to a certain color pixel in a BitmapData. For example, if there was a BitmapData that looked something like this:[code]I was wondering if there was a proven and efficient way of doing this, because I am trying to make a collision engine of sorts that can give me the collision normal of the best fit slope of a given bitmap image. In the scenario of the last example, the slope would be 1/1, or -45 degrees. The way I have it now, I am isolating the adjacent pixels by blurring the entire image, looping through all of the pixels, and storing the gray ones in an array. from there I can determine the best fit slope of the surface of the image. The only thing is that this seems like a lot of work for the CPU. Is there a better way to isolate the black pixels adjacent to white ones than blurring the image and looping through every pixel?

This is more of a question of logic than coding.. but here goes. I've got an array of points, and when plotted on a graph in flash it shows something like this:The blue points just highlight the points of each spike. While the red points are points I want to find.My question is, how do I find the red points on each spike?At first I tried sorting through the array for the highest points, but that didn't give me all the red points as some blue points are higher than the red points.Just by looking at the graph I can immediately see the points I need, but it's a bit harder to find those using code..

i've been working on a problem for a while now, which involves targeting the closest movieClip in relation to the x y coords of the mouse, I've attached a nice little acompanying graphic.Each mc added to the stage has it's own sub-class (HotSpots) which uses Pythag to measure distance from mouse. At this stage i can determine the closest value from my Main class but can't figure out how to reference it back to the movieclip... hope this makes sense. Below are the two Classes.My Main Class which attachs the mcs, and monitors mouse movement and traces closest value.[code]

For some reason Flash Builder 4 doesn't autocomplete any more for new projects I create (either pure Actionscript or Flash Pro projects). But for previous projects it still works fine.For instance when I go to create a new actionscript class, when I click browse next to Superclass there are only TWO classes that come up. EventDispatcher & Sprite. Where have the rest of the classes gone?
When I try to type inside the class.. ie var mc:MovieClip... as I'm typing MovieClip nothing comes up any more.. pushing ctrl+space doesn't bring up a list of classes either. Importing classes, no code hinting comes up at all.I haven't changed anything in Flash Builder between now and when my previous projects were created.
