The code works exactly as I wanted it to, but it is on AS2 . I tried, but I can't 'convert' it to AS3. I would like to know how this code would work on AS3! View 3 RepliesI have a 3d model of a village created in 3DS Max, and I want to know what is the procedure for me to get it into Flash?The reason for this is because I want to use AS3 to make the user be able to fly through the village by clicking a button. Like for example, when the user clicks a button named "Water" the view(camera) flies through to the village's Lake. Then when he/she clicks "Houses" it goes maybe to a hut. And again if he/she clicks "Water" it will go to the lake using the same path it took.
There is only one defined path that the camera can go through, and that path have locations where the camera can stop depending on which button is clicked ("Water" stops at the lake, "Houses" stops at the hut, etc.)
I am using flash mx I have a form, with a confirmation page that comes up when the user clicks on the submit button.
I want the user to also receive an email confirmation.
I have a php file someone gave me to use for this...
my problem is, when the user clicks on the submit button, it calls the actual php file.... so I know I have coded it wrong in flash..

I can navigate through the movie correctly, until I navigate back to frame 1 ("start"). After this, when I click on the Next button, the movie goes to the last frame without stopping at "KMT2".
I'm shwoing a step by step process on how I did a photoshop piece, and I want to have a simple flash swf that goes through each of the screenshots at the viewer's pace, by them clicking. I wasn't even thinking so complicated as to include forward/back buttons, even just somethign so simple as having the entire image clickable to move 'forward' and when it gets to the end it just loops or something. super simple, i would do an animaged gif but i want it to be at the user's own pace. but if you think of how an animated gif cycles that's how simple i want it to be. also a few of fading/dissolivng between the images would be cool.

I've been unable to find info on this because it's tricky to find the correct keywords. I want to allow the user to draw a line so that the application can measure the distance between two points chosen by the user. I could let the user click on one point and then the other but it would be much better if, after clicking the first point, a line would follow the mouse cursor like in most graphic applications. How would you do that? Is there a convenient method for that? Maybe use the MOUSE_MOVE event after the MOUSE_CLICK and continuously draw a line?

This all works fine except if the user deletes all the text they have entered and then starts typing again then the formatting is lost.[code]To setup the initial formatting then similar code to apply the formatting when the user changes it.So how can I stop the user from 'deleting' the formatting if they delete all the text?
View 1 RepliesI'm in the process of teaching myself the components of the CS4 Design Premium package using the Adobe Classroom in a Book series. I'm currently going through the Flash CIAB and i've started using the pen tool. The task involves creating a wave like design across the stage. Whilst this in itself is simple, the final instruction is to click on the first anchor point to close the shape. In the illustration, the closed shape seems to automatically extend around the stage, however when I click on the first anchor point, the line automatically connects between the two points in a straight line.
Am I doing something wrong? The next step is to fill this area, but with the straight line effect that I am getting, this becomes impossible. I should point out that the instruction states that the pen tool line should extend off the stage. I have done this, but even then on clicking on the first anchor point the shape is closed incorrectly.
I am using Flex 4 and AS3 and I am trying to make it so that the user can draw a freehand line with the cursor - I have this part done.However, I also need the line to be a dashed line instead of one solid line like it is now. below is my code I am using. I have found some examples on how to do this, but they are all for straight lines, not for a freehand line.

In other words I wonder wether it is possible to offer a webcam service on a website, so that the streaming video goes directly from user to user, without overloading the system.

It's connected to a database where we keep track of the responses and print them in chart form and post the results on the website so everyone can see the most popular budget items the readers want to cut.

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.
I want to create a line tool exactly like flash line tool. But the code that I am using shows the line when we release the mouse button. How can I show the lines while it is drawing[code]...
View 4 RepliesFor one of my projects I need users to be able to communicate with each other in an audio mode. The thing I'm concerned about is the scalability of the project if it even gets big in terms of bandwidth consumption.
What are the alternatives to passing the audio through my server to the users?Is it possible to create a link between two users so they can exchange their stream of data (audio in this case) so that it doesn't pass through me, while still being able to control the time they've been connected to each other and some other information?
As for now it's just an idea I have in mind but I don't really know what to look into. I think it will probably need to be some plugin dependant solution so that's why I tagged the question like that.
I'm not looking for a concrete solution, just a little push in the right direction from someone who has been through something similar.
Im building a pretty simple drawing board in flash, i got this code from this forum and it works fine (there is more to it but this is the drawing part)[code]This works fine. But i want to be able to erase the drawings, step by step this is ths tricky part, ive looked everywhere(ok not everywhere) but in a whole lot of places but the only thing i found is how i could delete everything with removeChild and that in not what i want. Maybe i need to change the function abowe? Please help me to get in the right direction. What should i read about /look at?

i cant get any work done because its crashign all the time.
I'm maintaining a ActionScript 2 application which uses createEmptyMovieClip to create dropdown lists (the list items being attached as movieclips). I can close the dropdown directly via removeMovieClip and such, obviously.
My problem is this: the dropdown should not only be closed when an item is clicked or the button creating it is triggered again, but also anytime the user clicks anywhere outside the dropdown (like onReleaseOutside, except the click also STARTS outside).
So far the only solution I can see is turning _root (or an invisible layer) into a button by proving an onRelease for it, but that's hackish in that it makes _root be treated like a button by Flash (pointer mouse cursor and all that). Do not want!
In the flash movies I make, when you right click on them I get that in flash_2.png. However, I would like it that when you right click the options to come in flash_1.png.

View 1 RepliesMy code seems to be hearing a MOUSE_MOVE event when you click outside of the Flash stage (anywhere else on the page).
I have one listener for MOUSE_LEAVE (stage), which hides some overlay controls after a 500ms interval, and another (MOUSE_MOVE) to show them again when you move back over the stage. Yet the controls show again when I click anywhere outside of the stage.
I suppose I could add a Boolean for whether the mouse is over or outside of the stage (since I'm tracking that anyway), and *not* show the controls if its outside, but is there something else I'm overlooking?
I used flash banner at html page in a iframe. But when I clicked at another navigation link (like index to contact page). flash reloads. & it takes time for low bandwidth user. Is there any solution that, i can go at any page without refresh whole page...(not reload flash). I don't want to reload flash when I click at another link.
