It's been a while... I'm looking at putting together a page with a series of small flash videos but ideally they would only play when in the visible browser space (paused below or above fold)... this is to create a neat interactive effect while minimizing CPU load as well. I know this will probably end up being more of a JS solution (if at all possible) but I thought I'd start here.

I work with 3d animation. Im have a problem with a personal website Im doing, I have a link in a button inside a flash movie to open a new window and play a youtube movie:

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
It's easy to check if movie clip is on the stage/display list.But how to detect if movie clip is inside the visible area of browser window?

I have a button. When you rollover it, it shows a window next to it with some content. I want it so that if you roll off it will disappear, which I can do, but ALSO if the person clicks that same button, i want the window to stay visible, even if you roll off the button. So basically rollover = preview, click = shows permanently until closed. How can I do this?
So far I did on onRollOver event, an onRelease event, and an onRollOut event and only the rollover and rollout is working. I tried having it set a variable if the onRelease event is triggered and then if that variable was set, the rollout event wouldnt occur, but it didnt work.
I have not worked with Flash for quite awhile and just finished a personal project in Flash CS4, originally created in Flash MX, but when I uploaded the complete swf and html to the Web, the swf file is not visible at all I see a blank page. The previous version, saved in MX, works just fine online but I no longer have the MX version.
what ActionScript version should I output for the SC4 version, 1 or 2 (I tried version 3 and got an error message)?
So I have a movie clip called signInBtn and one called signOutBtn initially,
signOutBtn.visible = false;
but when a user signs in
signInBtn.visible = false;
signOutBtn.visible = true;
But after I do that, I can't click the signOut movieclip. I thought it might be because the signOutBtn was under the invisible signInBtn but that is not the case.
1) how do you open a new window if you have thumbnail pics in the flash movie but want the full pic to open up in a new window? Is this Javascript inside flash?

View 3 RepliesI have some AS that creates a movie clip and later tries to make it go away. However, _visible isn't working as I would think. Here's a sample: I create the triangle:

It doesn't work, however. So, I tried trace(triangle30._visible) both before and after the second chunk of code, and it does indeed change from true to false. However, the movie clip is still visible on the screen.
I have to have many small thumbnails on a page and each one needs to open up to a full size (640x480) video with controls when clicked.

View 2 RepliesWe have Flash movie in one domain and accessed from other Domain. The links in Flash movie was not working and with security restricitions we cannot use 'allowscriptaccess'.
So, we used System.security.loadPolicyFile [URL]; and included the XML in our assets. This worked for the links to open in New Window. But, when the links were changed to open in the same window, the links are working in Flash Player versions till 9.2XIn the versions, 9.4X+, it is not working.
I'm looking to create a flash based popup window when a button is pressed within the flash movie. Not a javascript based html window or html browser window, but a window that is in the flash movie that is entirely flash based. I looked all over the internet and can't seem to find anything on this, and can't find anything on this board either. I am new to flash and actionscripting in general. View 1 RepliesI have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.

how to horizontally center my Flash movie in the web browser window after publishing?
A bit of background: I was able to achieve this using <center></center> tags a few years ago. But I have since upgraded to CS5 and I understand that this old method is now obsolete.
I have found a few threads/forums that address this, but I know nothing about HTML and these threads don't help me because they assume you have more knowledge than I possess. When opening up the index.html file in Dreamweaver I can't find anything that looks vaguely familiar to what is being discussed. I have found some code samples using <div></div> tags but have no idea where to place it.
So I will need it explained to me in a step by step fashion, including which file I need to fix and what program I should use. Code samples will be very welcome if you can tell me exactly where it goes.
