how to save and load .txt files using flash? like let's say i want to make my program so that when the user(s) get onto my website that they can save a .txt msg. and then they want, they can re-load this value from the .txt (it doesn't have to be a .txt file, i just figured that would be trhe easiest way) also i need this information to be saved onto the server. how can i do this? Like do i need Side Script? (and if i do what is that?)

I know it's possible to load and save a local file using CS4 and Flash Player 10, but my question is if I can load a SWF local file without using 'browse' and 'load' methods and then save it. I really pretend to "copy" a specific SWF local file into another folder on my HD and I think this is possible loading first this file and then saving it. For this reason I don't want the dialog box appears (with browse method). ('maybe with 'Loader'?)

View 3 RepliesI wrote these functions which I use in conjunction to scale down some BitmapData and save it as a PNG. However, the scaledImage.draw(originalImage, scalingMatrix, null, null, null, true); line with smoothing set to true does not have the intended smoothing effect when I save the bitmap data as a PNG using the second function. The resulting image file is not antialiased at all. Is there anything I'm doing wrong here?

Problem:When saving the file, the "Save As Filetype" drop down is empty and end users can accidentally delete the swf file extension in the filename.How can we lock down the extension so it will always have SWF in the extension?
Technique 1? Set "Save As Filetype" to SWF by default.
Technique 2? Click "Publish as Flash". User specifies the filename. File is saved on the server. User presented with prompt to download file. File is downloaded from the server using the traditional browser windows explorer dialog box (the same dialog box if I downloaded a program from cnet's downloads.com)

How to load a String Array from a txt file in local user space (the folder from which the .swf is run). What I need to know: The easiest way for the user to save/load a file. The file has to contain Objects and Arrays reflecting his current status in the game. The goal is to avoid non-Flash apps and languages, and external Classes if possible (I do everything right in the main fla). I don't mind that the user has to initiate and approve the upload/download.

also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions..

I have a swf page that I would like to convert to a png file. Before I convert the file, I would like to zoom in to the swf file so that I have a larger image. I try swftools to convert, but the png image quality is not good enough: Zoomed-in png image looks too blurry.
I should do to capture/use a zoomed-in version of a swf file. A linux compatible command line tool would be great as I am thinking of converting hundreds of images.
