ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Snapshot Truncation(!) Of Bitmap Data?

Sep 27, 2011

I am getting really frustrated with this. I have tried a lot of things to get this to work but I CANNOT seem to get the tx and ty values to work properly with every frame. It works great for some frames, then all of the sudden it will cut off a portion of the front of another frame.

Is there any way to ensure that it will never happen again to any frame for any object? Like making the bitmap data larger than the actual sprite or something to create a little bit of padding for insurance?

Looking at how I handled the height, I still have no idea WHY I needed the +3 (because it was truncating 3pixels every time) but it works. But now I am trying to get the width to work properly and I CANNOT find anything that helps. If you can help, PLEASE DO!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Live Screen Capture Webcam Snapshot (bitmap API)?

Apr 10, 2008

Got round to the point where screen grabbing an image and saving it to file is too much, so what i want to do now, is take a snapshot of a live webcam image (I have webcam display working) and display the snapshot/screen grab, next to it or anywhere in the movie. This way the screen capture can be stored temporarily in the movie. once the movie is closed, all info is lost. Once another screen grab is taken, then the previous one is overwritten. The idea is simple but having problems working out how to do it in AS3!

I have got to the idea that i may need to use the Bitmap API to copy a section of the movie, and then redraw it into a new bitmap object?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Bitmapdata.hitTest - Bitmap 'emptyBitmap' With Bitmap Data Created

Feb 3, 2009

I'm cutting my teeth in actionscript 3 on a game that has a character running through a world. So, I have set up my Hit Testing by using the bitmap data hit test method, since I figured my world is going to be destructible - it'd be nice to update the level and then redraw it and have the character interact with the new change. (That works beautifully) I am however; a bit confused as to how I have my hit Testing set up. I've been messing around with it, and it works for now - but I'm not sure why.. currently, I have a character set up by using a class I built and using a series of animations I created. So, this character has a walking and falling animation, etc. This is a movie clip.

Then there's a bitmap 'emptyBitmap' with bitmap data created - however; I never really added this as a child to the character. This is sized to the dimensions of my character. My level is created as a movielip, then it's drawn to a bitmap - when the level movieclip is changed, the bitmap redraws, and that's how this updates.

Arrays :: Prevent This Arbitrary Text Truncation?

Dec 28, 2011

Below is code that populates a menu. Everything seems to work great, with no errors thrown, except for one crucial part. My megaPages array has the values ["HOME","BABIES","BRIDALS","MISC","WEDDINGS","ABOUT"], but the actual text that displays on screen (which is produced by megaPages) is like this:

As you can see, some of the text is arbitrarily being truncated. I've traced the text strings as they get passed through the various functions at various stages of the menu-build, and they are always right, but somehow when each DisplayObject make it on screen, letters get ommitted (notice though that 'HOME' abd 'ABOUT' are fine). I don't even know where to start with this problem.

Flash :: Using Bitmap Data To Draw Massive Image?

Feb 18, 2011

I am making a snow boarding game in AS3. The problem I am having is that I want to leave a trail in the snow behind the board.

I have had a think and feel that the best way of achieving this would be to use the lineTo() method to draw a line form the snowboards previous position to its current position. If I do this all of the way down the slope I would end up with a line almost 23000 pixels long which seems extremely large and will have a major impact on performance.

If I were to convert the trail movieclip to a bitmap would it improve performance? I am targeting a minimum of flash player 9 which I have found to have issues when handling bmp's over 2880 pixels so I think this method might not work.

Flash :: Bitmap Data .draw() With Transform Matrix

Jun 29, 2011

I'm working on a project wherein a user can take a snapshot of themselves using their webcam and then edit this image by transforming scale and rotation and save the result.

I've got most of it working, the user can take a snapshot of themselves, transform the object using Senocular's Transform Tool and i'm using .draw() to then save this transformed object. The problem is .draw() is only grabbing data from the top left corner of the stage. It is drawing the transformed object but only from the top left corner.

Why does it only draw from the top left corner and how can i get set the coordinates to only draw from the area where the captured image is set?

You can view the file as is at: [URL]

And i've zipped the FLA and relevant classes at [URL]

AS3 :: Flash - Load Bitmap Data From The Library Without Specifying A Class Name For Linkage?

holder.bitmapData = new test2(1,1);

but this requires me to check off 'Export for ActionScript' in every symbol. I'd rather not go through every bitmap in the library and do this, is there some way to reference them by their library name?

Flash :: Eliminate The Difference Between Captured Bitmap Data And Filled FXG Paths?

Feb 13, 2012

I am trying to find a way to avoid using FXG in one of my applications but run into a problem where the captured bitmap is not exactly the same as the original filled FXG paths.Originally, let's say I have a 3 shapes that are adjacent to each other (you can imagine a pie chart with 3 slices). I used "cutImage" function below to capture the filled bitmap data and display the 3 pictures. However, we discovered that there is a 1 pixel gap on the side where each shape meets the other shapes. Not sure if there is any relationship, but the captured bitmap is exactly the same as displaying the filled path directly but with "cacheAsBitmap" set to true. If we just display the filled paths with cacheAsBitmap set to false, there are no gaps between the shapes

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Take A Snapshot From A Streaming Video

Users can fire up their webcam and connect to the server and broadcast. Viewers can connect to the streams with the "viewer" app just fine.What I'm trying to implement now, are snapshot and record buttons on the viewer side. Right now I am just focusing on snapshots.I've found lots of examples/tutorials on how to take a snapshot using your own webcam. However, when I try to implement these on the "viewer" side, it doesn't work. When I try to search for code examples on how to capture streaming data, everything that comes up is software for sale.[code]If I use this code in the "caster" app, it works just fine. But on the viewer side it fails. Through trial and error I've determined that the line that is failing is:[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create Flash Snapshot In A Windowless Environment?

Aug 6, 2009

I have this flash player we use to create some graphs and charts of our business performance. We use flash because we like those neat-o graphics and overall User experience.The thing is that now I need to generate snapshots (i.e. images) of those charts every Monday so I can save them to disk.Our flash player takes arguments at startup (or runtime) that specify the data we want to load and the date range, and we have LOTS of charts around.

I would like to know if there is any way to create these images in a batch, window-less process in linux. My goal would be to have a script that runs at 2am, automatically loads all the graphs say for the latest week, and creating PNG images for each. All this in one of our window-less (but with X11 libraries) linux boxes.

Php :: Saving A Picture In Flash Webcam Snapshot Application?

May 5, 2011

I have made a flash webcam application to allow the user to take a photo of themselves using a webcam. I have successfully saved the photo in my localhost. However, I would like to set the names of those photos. Currently, the photos names are generated by

$uniqueStamp = date('U');

I also have a textfield in my flash app that allows inputs from user for the photo name. For example if the user write 'MYPHOTONAME' in the textfield, the photo which will be saved in my localhost will be named 'MYPHOTONAME' too. How do I do it in Flash and in PHP? Currently I'm having some problems because I cannot send the textfield string to PHP.

Here is my flash code to send the snapshot to PHP and let the PHP save it in my localhost:

imgBA = jpgEncoder.encode(imgBD1);
sendReq.data = imgBA;
sendLoader.load(sendReq);

[Code]....

As you can see, I tried to pass in $photo = $_POST['photo']; from flash to PHP however I do not know the exact code, can anyone help me?

Actionscript 3 :: Take Snapshot Of Display Object Visible Area In Flash?

Jul 28, 2011

I have camera input app in flash (AS3) and I draw some graphics over it. I want to take the image snapshot of the stage visible area but only the video an graphics I draw over video. I want to exclude controls from the image snapshot. My display object layout is in following relation:

-stage
--canvas (Sprite)
---video (Video)[code]..........

Stage size is fixed and I want to take a image snapshot of everything that is child of my canvas element (camera input video and overlayed graphics, but excluding controls). I am able to make this image snapshot when overlayed graphics are inside the bounds of stage size. I do it like this:

var bmpd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(canvas.width, canvas.height);
bmpd.draw(canvas, new Matrix(1, 0, 0, 1, canvas.x, canvas.y));

But this gives me unwanted result when graphics which I draw on top of video on canvas exceed the bounds of stage display area. How do I limit the image snapshot only in the bounds of visible area inside stage?

I have made a little drawing program for my daughter, and I have worked in the ability to save and load images that you have made. It's a simple line drawing thing, but she's 3, and it works.Whatand I'm still new with Flash and AS3) is that I can "addChild" to put the jpeg on the stage, but it's on (or over top of) the drawing area. That means that when I start to draw, I don't really add to the picture, instead, it's drawing behind it. I used the line drawing tutorial as the basis for this little app, the basic code is :

Code:
public function DrawMain(){
graphics.lineStyle(theLine,0x000000); //default to black lines
