ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - Arrange Images Via XML In A Grid?

Aug 11, 2010

I'm really stuck trying to do something that I think should be pretty simple. I'm using an XML file to bring in (among other things) images, and I want to arrange the images into a rectangular grid, say, 2 rows of 3 images in each row.My code:

Code:
var flashProjDate:XMLList; // xml tag: date
var flashProjName:XMLList; // xml tag: pname

Flash :: Grid Of Images With Rollover Actions?

Jul 29, 2011

Okay, trying to find a solution to this, I have been searching everywhere. I have a flash project with a grid of images; 3 images tall by 4 images wide. Here's what I want, when you rollover each image, the others get covered up with a larger version of the particular image, no fancy animations or anything like that, it needs to just appear. The problem I am encountering is that the expanded image is part of the rollover so rolling over anywhere the expanded image should be reveals the larger image. So the million dollar question is... how do I make the only active part of the rollover action be the small version of the image

Flash :: Flex Data Grid: Check Whether Item Renderer Displays Last Row In Grid

Feb 3, 2012

I'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Add Images From XML Into A Grid-like Structure

Aug 11, 2010

I'm trying to load and display images (read in dynamicaly with xml) into a rectangular grid format, say, 2 rows of 3 images.

I believe I understand the nuts and bolts about xml loaders, but my code is only showing what I think is the last image:

[Code]....

the trace command reveals that the coordinates are indeed right on where I expect them to be... only thing is on the stage, only one image shows up. The very last one.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Grid Of Images - Vertical Scroll Bar To Scroll Through Images

Jul 26, 2009

I have about a dozen thumbnail images aligned in a 3 X 4 grid. The dimension of the stage is smaller then the 3 X 4 grid therefore I will need a vertical scroll bar to scroll through my images. In addition, whenever the user rolls over one of the images the edges would glow. Also, when the user clicks on one of the images, it will bring them to a separate frame. I was wondering how I would attempt to do this. Since I will be frequently adding new thumbnails, I heard that I should look into XML. If I am to do this using XML, I am confused as to how I would do this.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Sending User-drawn Images To An Adaptable Grid Layout In The Next Scene

Nov 16, 2008

I've created a drawing application intended as an interactive art piece for a gallery. I'd like to have what each visitor draws in one scene to somehow be carried over into the next scene and be displayed on clicking a button. Ideally, the user-drawn images will scale and position themselves accordingly to maximize the screen space. This way, if only three people have visited and drawn something, their three images would enlarge to fill the screen. If 12 people draw something, those 12 images would shrink to fill the space.

I'm thinking I might need to look at creating adaptable/expandable grids, but I'm also just stumped on how to carry user-drawn images over to other scenes. I have very little AS background and need things spelled out for me explicitly...

I'm working in CS3, but writing in AS2. On the stage, I have a palette of colours the user can choose from, a movieclip called "canvas," and another called "controller." Here's my code:

Attached to a movieclip called "Controller" is:
onClipEvent (load) {
topDog = "window1";
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("holder",100);

function loadImages3(event:MouseEvent):void {

My problem is that I can't figure out how to decouple the loader from this loadNewRow function. Ideally, I'd like to figure out how to load all the swf's give them dynamic names... like thmb1loaded, thmb2loaded, thmb3loaded.. push into an a ("loaded") array and then have that be used to build the grid.Right now, its loading them every time the loadnewrow function fires. I'm sure its a simple matter of iterating a .name within a contentloaderinfo .onComplete when each swf is loaded...

I'm not looking for any extra fading effects or special movements. Just would love to have a single thumbnail grid on side, with option to have lists of thumbnails by 10 if there is more then 10 pictures or so.

Quicker Way To Arrange Several Bitmaps

Dec 16, 2010

I want to know if there is a faster way to take several bitmaps and arrange them one after another in a single layer in a movie clip.

This is how I am doing it currently.

Stage 1: Import the bitmaps to the stage

Stage 2: Distribute the bitmaps to layers

Stage 3: Make the first bitmap a movie clip symbol and cut the other bitmaps' frames

Stage 4: Go into the symbol, create a new layer, and paste the frames.

Stage 5: Click and drag the other frames into one layer, one after the other.

I now have a single movie clip with all my bitmaps ordered one after the other in the timeline.
