ActionScript 3.0 :: Generic Swf For Loading Image Slideshows?

i have a swf that loads dynamic images from an xml. that part is working great. Also i give the swf a parameter with the xml to load through the embed code. thats working to.
What is not working I want to give the swf a height and width so i can use the same swf for multiple places and sizes. i've done it by giving absolute size to a container div and it seems to do the size job, BUT i cant get the images to load right. Ive tried every scalemode and images are expanded or they load way of the x=0, y=0 of the movie
So i followed the tutorials to create xml slide-shows and then when a guest mouses over a button i load another xml swf slide-show and reload the main xml slide-show when they mouse off.it works great to start by automatically loading the first swf xml slide-show, and it still works when i mouse over the first button. when i mouse off or mouse over another button (3 total) the slide-show starts loading images randomly and at odd intervals (originally all are set at 3 seconds).
I am trying to embedd two slideshows into my flash file.I already managed to integrate one, but I can't integrate another since my knowledge of actionscript is very limited. For people that know Flash well it is a really easy question. What do I have to rename in this script so that I can create a second slideshow, without always calling on the first one.Here is the script for the first slideshow:(I got it from the website where I bought the template for the slideshow from)

AS that is retreiving info from a config.xml file (the number of logo's per slideshow).
The flash movie needs to show 4 different slideshows in one flash movie. For this i'm using a AS 2.0 code. 2 of the 4 slideshows work perfectly. however the other 2 are not? I'm expecting there is a limitation to the code, because only the first 2 slideshows that are adressed first in the code are working fine. I'm using the exact same code, but with other variable names but it won't work...

What I want to build is a photography site using flash for the thumbnail pages and slideshow, but have the navigation buttons their own separate flash entities. Can these separate flash button entities influence the thumbnail flash entity? The purpose of the multiple flash entities is so that I can embed it in my html and use css to position them so that it stretches or shrinks to fit a browser window depending on screen size. Or is that a bad idea?
My flash file creates multiple slideshow instances. These slideshow's are each controlled by some buttons and AS code that reside within the attached container clip. The code for buttons and slideshow nav is as follows (this resides on first frame of attached movie, not on _root):

The problem is that instead of just controlling the slideshow for which you are viewing, the keys control all other slideshows as well at the same time. Where the buttons, when you click them, control only the slideshow that they are contained in. I've tried writing an absolute path to the specific slideshow movie in question like:
I have designing my website with Dreamweaver and am wondering how exactly I can make a non-interactive slideshow for my main page, preferably in Flash or Fireworks. I want the slideshow to begin each time the main page is loaded. I have been using Simple viewer to make my galleries because I don't know html, I'm a photojournalism major and happened to get the entire cs4 suite with my macbook. I'd like to learn to put more than PS and Indesign to good use.
I want to create dynamic slideshows using external jpegs and for the slideshow to continue until all of the images have been shown. The images in the folder are named 0,1,2,3... etc First of all I want a function to fire that loads an external jpeg.It then checks to see if it exists.If it does it waits 5 seconds then loads the next. I Know it involves setInterval but I cant seem to get the two things working together!
Basically I've had a really hard time trying to unload / load external swf slideshows. I've got it so I can load the first one fine, but when I tell it to go to the next frame with the next movie, the movie bit is just blank. If I have a link that goes directly to the frame of the second movie before loading the first movie, the second movie loads fine then, but will not load once the first movie has been loaded, if that makes sense. So I followed a tutorial on here to load and unload. And it almost works! The first movie loads, then I click the second movie and that loads, and then I click back on the first movie and the friggin pc crashes!!
The two movies are on the "home" and "ds" buttons at [URL]. In a rails project how would I create a picture slideshow? It could be generated as flash or use prototype or something else. I just want a series of images (as a sub-part of a web page, not be the whole page) to fade into each other, and to advance manually if clicked. It would be nice if I could do things like slowly zoom into the images. I imagine there must be a plugin or something to handle this?

I am loading images of different size and then images are scaled and border is drawn for each image as shown in below link,[URL]... I want that border of images to be of the same width and height and for that I need to find out the max width and height size image before loading all the images. Is there any way that I can know the width and height of an image before loading it completely?
I developing a site where on the homepage, there are about 6 images that rotate, but if you click on a sub link, a different image loads. But the problem is that, the first image has to cycle through before the second image loads. I want the second image to load immediately.
[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. I tried searching for an answer to this on the forums and it seems you can't duplicate a movieclip that has a dynamically loaded jpg in it, I mean you just get a duplicate empty movieclip?What I want to do is have 3 copies of a pic, each tinted a little differently, and have them converge and reveal the "composite" of this pic. Do I then have to use loadMovie 3 times?Does loading the same 50kb image at the same time mean you're actually loading 150kb?
i was creating my portfolio using xml gallery script from this site. the thing is that it loads one picture at a the with a preloader between each load. is there a way to load the first image and keep loading the rest so there will be only one loading time? here is my action script:

I have a scrollPane that contains a textField which is loading an image via img tag where there is no scrollbars initially because the textField is not large enough in the beginning, but it is larger than the scrollPane after the image is fully loaded.. and I am trying to update the scrollPane once the image is fully loaded..

I made 1 image gallery. and i am facing a big issue. When one image is loading in my Loader object. If i click on next image button. It starts loading another image without canceling the existing image. So mutliple images appear at stage in this case. I want something that stops loading older image and start loading new image.
I am now using FancyUpload (flash upload) to allow user to upload files in a small project. I use Generic Handler to handler in server when user uploads his file, but I'm getting error: Can't get session in Generic Handler (.ashx) when using Firefox or Chrome etc except IE I read so many solution and finally found out that Flash has some bug that can't send cookie in Firefox or Chrome except IE. Maybe I can check the session in Flash before it's start to send the file to the server or check session in Generic Handler before save it, How to do it?
I want to handle multiple operations on a UI Component (button ,textfield, swfs,custom objects etc) in like scaling,skewing ,color,rotations etc etc and save them too. Earlier the actions were done
using a single tool and single mxml file but now the tool is separated into different tools. Was wondering how i can design / use something like Toolmanager class to handle actions etc?
Also the tricky part is that some objects can have more operations defined for them Like 'object1' has 3 operations that can be performed on it and 'object2' has 5 operations defined on it.
We are using MVC design pattern but no frameworks as such. What are the different design patterns that can be used to do this? Edit: To be more precise i want implement this in AS3 OO way.The application is similar to drawing application which supports addition of various images,text,audio,swfs etc. One added user can perform various operations of the objects..like adding color,scaling skewing,rotation etc etc and custom effects and after that export the drawing as PNG.Likewise some effects that are applicable to text are not applicable to images and vice versa. and some effects can be common.
I'm just getting started connection to webserivces and I have looked at a lot of tutorials and I get most of them to work but I'm having a little bit of a problem. I'm coding in eclipse with the flex plug-in and I'm using flash to complile it. I'm trying to come up with a generic class for my webservices where I can just pass in the wsdl and any params and it will run. I'm using the webservicex for my wsdl in this example. Here is the code below and it works great and returns an XML.

Now the problem. I have a specific wsdl, NOT THE ONE ABOVE, that I pass in a lot of params, which isn't a problem, and it seems to be sending them all just fine but when I trace the result I keep getting [object, object]. how to turn this into and XML, or why it is coming back as an object?
I was going through the options the generic Vector class offers to delete and/or insert items from/to an array, and it seems to me that the only way is by using the Splice method. For me, this method does a lot of work I dont utilize in my code (like creating a new array as a result etc.), hence
