View 4 RepliesI am using Flex to create a small form. All I have at the moment is a List component, that I want to populate with a list of font names.I am getting the fonts using Font.enumerateFonts(true);. This returns an array of flash.text.Font objects.
The Font objects have a fontName property that is a String of that fonts name.My problem is that I can't figure out how to bind the List's dataProvider to the fontName property of each of the Font objects in the Array.Is there a way to do this just with binding? and not creating a new array of Strings by looping through the Font objects?
I always thought this (mixed arrays) was possible, but now as I want to use it it won't work. I'm trying to create an array consisiting of 4 Vector3D objects and a Number. Yet Flash won't let me create such an array like:

Am I missing something here with the creation of the Array or is it just not possible and will I have to use an "Object" instead. Of course I could also just store my Number in the .x a fifth Vector3D-Object but this doesn't seem very practical to me.

View 9 RepliesI have an array of temporary objects created in a for loop. The objects are of type class "Tile", a class I created. However, it appears that whenever I create a lot of tiles in the for loop, the program slows down indefinitely.
While the array is whiped at a later trigger point, I am thinking that perhaps these Tile objects are not being erased from memory. They are being created on the fly in a for loop, and the array is being reset to "array = []".
Are the objects still in memory or are they cleaned up when the array is set to []?
I have a service which returns an Array of ObjectProxy objects. I would like to cast this to a custom object (a value object) and create an ArrayCollection. View 7 RepliesI have 4 movieclips that are animated around the stage and a basket movieclip button as the home button in the far left corner. When I click the basket I would like to have actionscript animate those 4 movieclips into the basket with an acceleration in 20 frames. This I can easily do without acceleration as I can find out the current location of the movie clips, find out the distance between it and the basket and then divide it by the number of frames I need, and then use that as the speed. But to be honest I am not sure where to begin when I include acceleration. I have dabbled with acceleration in the past but not with a specific number of frames in mind.

3) If it is, run the random function again and again until the condition is met.
Or maybe there's a way to set up that at once (find random number that is not equal to 4 or 5).
I'm having AS3 create 12 random var (play1, play2, etc) and then I ask it to average the 12 vars (numbers) until I get a specific average number. When I run this in AS2 I get the "script time error, keep running?" question. I tell it to keep running and eventually AS2 finds the right set of 12 numbers to equal a specific average number. In AS3 I get a "stack over flow error". I know that all my AS3 swf needs is just more time to find it.

I get my text imported and it splits it every time the letter 'a' is found. That's fine.
How would I go about counting the number of times that 'a' or 'and' (for example) featured in the text?
If there a quick way code wise of getting a dynamic textfield to count upwards to a specific number?

iSo let's say I have three different arrays of objects, and I want to combine them into one sorted array. I want the order to be such that the items from each array are evenly distributed throughout the sorted array.
If there were 3 xItems, 3 yItems, and 3 zItems, the sorted array would have this order: x, y, z, x, y, z, x, y, z
HOWEVER, even if the arrays are differing lengths, I still need to make them alternate as much as possible. If there were 6 xItems, 4 yItems, and 2 zItems, the sorted array should have this order: x, y, x, y, x, z, x, y, x, y, x, z

View 6 RepliesRight now I'm working on a website that has movie clips that I want to tween back and forth across the stage when a button is pressed.
Here's the idea:
When 2_btn is pressed, I want 1_mc, 2_mc, and 3_mc to move from right to left and then stop when 2_mc is positioned on the stage, stop moving and play
Then if 3_btn is pressed I want all three to be animated from right to left until 3_mc is positioned on the stage, stop moving and play
Then if 1_btn is pressed I want all three to move from right to left until 1_mc is positioned on the stage, then stop moving and play
Basically I have no idea how to accomplish this, or how to word it into Google.
What I have right now, which obviously isn't accomplishing what I want is:
Tween from left to right across the timeline, and then using a gotoAndPlay, and then stop(); on the frame..
I'm passing a Javascript Array() to Flash via FlashVars but Flash complains. Can you guys point me what am I doing wrong here?

Is it possible to link to a specific part of my flash movie from an html page. Is there any way to link to a frame number or label? The site is html based, but the intro/home page is flash. I don't want users to have to see the intro every time they go back to the home page from somewhere else within the site. Is there something that I can append to my link on my html page to make it go to a specific frame in the swf?

This allows the movie clip to play through once and then stop. But I need for the movie clip to loop more than once, maybe 2 or 3 times, and then go back to the main timeline.
Also, is it possible to place a pause (I'm guessing, maybe by using a timer of some type?) between the loops, so that the movie will pause a couple of seconds before it loops again and then stop? Please note I do not need the movie clip to stop when there's an event like a rollover or anything. I just need it to play a couple of times, pause between plays and then stop and go back to the main timeline.
