ActionScript 3.0 :: Loop For Running Function And Output MovieClips?

I have a loop that is supposed to run a set of functions and output movieclips on a main movieclip. Each of these smaller movieclip is supposed to be a tile. The code below is supposed to make 50 movieClips each one from a different reference on the tileSheet. However it outputs 50 of the exact same movieclips.

Strange enough whatever I made tDMax which is supposed to be the limit for the loop, that's what all the movieclips become. For example if I put it at 25, then all the movieClips become tiles from the bitmap sheet reference # 25. That leads me to think that it's not passing the variable to the functions correctly, and it's only doing it once the loop finishes. But when I trace things like rowT and colT the references to the bitmap are correctly. And when I trade tn within the other functions that's always correct also..

I'm using flash MX, and this was written in the only frame. Before this, I had the function declared and then called, and the output was 1 then 2 then 3.With the function declared at the end there is no output.In both cases the movieclips never played.

I have a query regarding OOP and Movieclips and custom classes (something I haven't been able to get the hang of). I will try and demonstrate my question with an example (I can't think of how else to explain it).
1. I have created a custom class with a variables and a function
function myNote(myNumber){
var myNumber;
}
2. I have then added a prototype of the movieClip class
myNote.prototype = new MovieClip();
3. Created another function
myNote.prototype.onMouseUp = function(){
trace("The number of the note you have clicked is: "+ this.myNumber);
}
4. Finally I have registered the custom class with a movieclip in the library
Object.registerClass("note", myNote);
5. Then I create a few instances of the movieClip on stage
attachMovie("note", 'n0', 100, {myNumber: '1'});
attachMovie("note", 'n1', 101, {myNumber: '2'});
attachMovie("note", 'n2', 102, {myNumber: '3'});
THE PROBLEM: Now that I have three instances of the movieClip on the stage, so when I click on any of them, the function (onMouseUp...) is summonded and the number (myNumber) of the movie clip is traced in the output window.But instead of showing the number of the movieClip i clicked on, I get the numbers of ALL the movieclips on stage.Why is the function running for all the movieclips on stage? Where am I going wrong? You see ultimately I would like that whichever movieClip i click on, it should change a varibale flag (which will be defined in the class) to activated, but if I face the above problem, then all movieclips will have their flag values changed to activate irrespective of which i click on.

I'm trying to make a point and click game for the fun of it. I'm having troubble with the .onPress function. I've made an array of movieclips, and I want to go through them in a loop, and make an onPress function for each of them. What I am trying to do with the code below is to make the debugText tell me what movieclip I pressed:

I using a loop to dynamically create some movieclips and then position them using the ._height and .width values.
When they are created I use a Listener and LoadInit, to check that everything has loaded. I do this because I want to be able to access the ._height properties of the movieclip in order to place them next to each other and centre them vertically.
If I place the following 3 lines outside the function:
inBead._x = currentPosition;
//gets the start position
currentPosition = currentPosition+Number(mainLoader._width);
//gets the position and adds the width of the movieclip

How to disable output panel while running app in background for debugging I use trace commands to keep track of what happens, but this is super annoying when trying to run the application in the background as the output window keep popping up thus obscuring everything else on the screen. Is there a way to prevent the output from popping up like that?

I've set up FlexUnit in my app, I want to debug a test using trace, but im not sure how to get flexunit to traceto the flashlog file. Here's part of my test task in ant, I thought the 'localtrusted' property would help, but it doesnt seem to. In my logs I get the testcases only, none of my traces which are inside my tests.

I have done this same thing in ActionScript 3, but am not familiar with ActionScript 2, which I am forced to use for this project. I am loading products into a SWF via XML and attempting to add a click event to each dynamically-created movieclip. Simply tracing the text from a node in XML will do for now. I'd like to assign a property called "desc" or "description" to each movieclip and have it trace that property's value when clicked. Here is the relevant portion of my code as it stands:

I want to loop through a movie clip and assign a function to each of the clip's child movieclips. when i do a for...in loop and then do a typeof() trace I get "string" and obviously it won't let me assign lets say 'onRollOver' functions to the children.

I am opening my mind to be lead down the path of the masters.I have created movie clips of hand drawn symbols; a1, b1, c1, a2, b2, c2...etc.I would like a text field to supply the input string, parse the string, then output the same string graphically with the MCs depending on a style (1 or 2).
ex: User inputs HELLO and selects style 2, on a button click a series of movieclips appears; h2,e2,l2,l2,o2.

when we are running movieclips in flash for a few minutes, white regions or white artefacts will start to appear on the screen, and it will slowly grow in size.we have cleared the objects from memory, but these white regions are still coming.

I'm loading content swfs into an Air App. The swfs are loaded into the non-app sandbox, and any communication is via the parent/child sandbox bridge. The swfs have timeline code. This code executes fine. The swfs also have mcs on the timeline - any code inside these mcs, or any child mcs of these mcs, is ignored. Simple traces do not execute below the top level timeline of the loaded swfs. I have tried naming the child mcs. I have tried exporting them in the library. Neither makes any difference. When I run the swf standalone, I see my diagnostic traces. When I load the swf, I only see the traces for the top level timeline.

I'm SO new to scripting. I find it all a bit daunting I have a Flash movie that runs for about 300 frames, then I'd like it to run backwards once it's reached the last frame, then play again from the beginning, and loop from there.
So really forward end frame reverse loop play again (loop) Is there an easy way to script this? I think I can figure out the first frame, but what would one put at the last frame?

I've got this for loop, but for some weird reason it malfunctions:
- When triggered, it runs infinite times.
- It only triggers when segmenten1 or segmenten3 are 0, which is weird, because it should also work when segmenten0 and 2 and 4 are 0...
Here is the for loop:

It seems to me like that when any of the segmented variables hits 0, it should trigger 2nd for loop, and repeat that 4 times. The xco and yco are arrays which store values for the x and y coordinates for spwaning the addchilds, this works fine.
the segmented variables are declared as following:

How can I reorganise the code below so the trace commands output i for each element in the photourls array and not just the last element? In a 6 element array, the trace(i); line outputs 5,5,5,5,5,5 rather than 0,1,2,3,4,5.

How do you stop the flash debugger if the code is running an infinite loop, or very very slowly?
I put too many trace() statements in, and it is taking forever. I know I can ctrl+alt+delete and stop flash CS5, but is there an easier way?

I'm working through some tutorials from my instructor to eventually build a simple e-com website for a state park. Basically, I'm using the two as3 files shown below and trying to get "bob" in my output with an array function and trace. Load store function is intentionally coded out. This simple code is not working properly:

The message is only output when some keys are pressed, such as W, D, Space, etc. I don't know why. I am using Flash CS3 (AS2).
