ActionScript 3.0 :: MOUSE_OVER Listener - Animation Is Triggered Both On Mouse Over And Mouse Out Events
Aug 2, 2009
I have a movie clip I am using as a button (instance name btn1) and I added an event listener to it (using the following line): btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, animate1); the function "animate1" triggers some small animation when the mouse is over the movieclip. my problem is that the animation is triggered both on mouse over and mouse out events.
I have the following code which causes a movieclip to scroll horizontally either left or right based on where the mouse location is, and stops it at the extents of the movie clip:
Ive made a program upto the point where i can create circular sprites(balls), and put them in an array..In the next frame, the user is supposed to be able to impart velocity to the balls by dragging and releasing the mouse ... Im having problems with this.. this is my code:
Code: import com.coreyoneil.collision.CollisionGroup; var collider = new CollisionGroup();
[code]....
This code only works with one object added on stage (i.e one object in circObjects).If i add more than one object the balls arbitrarily seem to jump some distance ahead when I click on them, and follow my mouse around even when Im not clicking..
Can I create a single event listener for all mouse events ?
my understanding is no because: what's happening is that each listener is checking for a string in an event and comparing it for a match against a list which is the listener.
My animation works in AS3 but wont respond to mouse events I suspect I have bitmaps and have to convert the bitmap to a sprite.I cant do this as yet.
Code: } private function imageLoaded(event:Event):void { var Singleimage:Bitmap = new Bitmap(event.target.content.bitmapData); //var bmd=Singleimage.bitmapData; //img1=new
Right now all the sounds (78 of them) on my guitar play using the roll_over event but that doesn't give the user much control over what sound is played.
The actionscript im using to play my sounds is this;
In a project i'm doing I have a custom cursor, using the start drag command and mouse.hide. the issue being that the movieclip being dragged is blocking the mouse from initiation mouse events properly.
It has been awhile since I have worked in flash.Right now I am working on something where I would like a panel to disappear when someone mouses off the stage.stage.addEventListener(Event.MOUSE_LEAVE, leaveHandler); It usually works fine but if I move my mouse really fast it doesn't fire. I have also tried the same thing using a custom invisible button that surounds the perimeter of the stage and I have tried ROLL_OVER and MOUSE_OVERand again, if I do it too fast my event doesn't fire (I am using trace)I can't find anything on the net about this - is this typical of flash that if you move your mouse too fast you break it? Do I need to increase my frame rate (I would really rather not because I have perfectly timed animations - I am at 30 frames per second)
I have a map of items and I need to know when a mouse moves over the item. Should I add a event listener for mouse over and mouse out to each item (there may be a lot) or I should add mouse over and mouse out listeners to whole container and do some checking to detect whether the target has item on it or not? In the second way it would mean that the event would occur on entering each map tile in the container i would be listening. This seems a bit pointless, but I heard somewhere that I should add as little as possible.. So what should I do?
I have a menu drawer at the edge of the screen that shows when the user rolls the mouse over it, but if the user overshoots it an moves the cursor slightly outside the browser window this is unfortunenatly registered as a mouse out.
I want to stop this by using event.MOUSE_LEAVE, but i need to use it as a condition not to triger a "leaveHandler".
I am looking to provide some UI functionality using the mouse- I have two distinct UI events to be achieved via mouse
a) change value b) delete object
I don't seem to have sufficient mouseclick events for both. I am avoiding using the right click as it has some default options(whose signing off will affect the whole project- not just this). I have mouse click used for change value- how do I use the doubleclick as the single-click events seems to get invoked prior?
It can be quite confusing title, but my question is simple. I have a mouse_over eventlistener associated with the eventcomplete from a tween. The problem is that if I have allready the mouse over the mc it will not react, only when it is out of bonds and enter.Is there a way to make it work when the mouse is over and not entering the mc?
I have a movie clip working where on rollover it sends it to scene 2 to play an animation but I don't know how to bring it back to scene one once you roll off of the clip. I have so far:
R1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, do1); function do1(event:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndPlay(2) stop(); }
what needs to be added to send it back to scene 1 after you MOUSE_OUT?
My code is below. What am I doing wrong? I am trying to have my menu enter the stage and exit the stage when the mouse goes below/above a certain point (425px)
I'm having a weird thing happen. I'm using the Tween class to move a child mc (slide_mc )of the button called jump_btn. slide_mc is supposed to move from left to right on rollover, then right to left upon rollout. They seem to work pretty good. The issue I'm getting is when the user is NOT over the button; you'll see the rollover tween (_jump1_twn) get triggered. Again, the mouse is not over the button and is still. How can I get this to stop happening? slide_mc then gets locked to the right until the user rolls over the button. Am I having this problem because Im using the Tween class to move objects I constucted manually?
jump_btn = mc I created manually then had exported for actionscript.slide_mc = a child mc of jump_btn (the issue is with its movement getting triggered at the wrong time)jumpFakeBtn = mc I created manually then had exported for actionscript.
I'm trying to get a water ripple effect that can follow the mouse, or be triggered by a mouse rollover. I found a tutorial here: [URL]. I have been able to figure out how the ripple effect works, and have been able to get the movieclip to follow the mouse. The problem is that I need the enlarged background inside the movieclip to stay stationary or to counteract the mouse movement. If you comment out the script you can see the ripple looks fine, but once the mc follows the mouse the two images do not align properly. I basically want to rollover an image with "water ripples" similar to dragging your hand across water.
Just wanted to ask if there is any advantage for either using mouse click event or touch tap events, when writing apps for mobiles or tablets (for the iphone especially)?
I know that both of them should work fine, but in term of performance, is anyone better? Are there any things I should be aware of when choosing either?
By the way am using actionscript3 to implement the app.
I have an animation that I want to start when clicking on the flash window. However, I've also have some buttons on the stage. If I add an event listener for MouseEvent.CLICK on the stage, then it 'eats up' the events and the buttons don't work.
I've tried some tricks, by adding some invisible buttons on top of the real ones, and use the MOUSE_OVER event to selectively enable/disable the mouseEnabled flag for the stage, but didn't work because it complains that the property or method doesn't exist (which I find odd).
I was wondering if there is such a thing as a mouse over listener.So that it would execute code when the mouse rolls over(and maybe also execute code when the mouse moves away again)
I used to play around with flash during the early days of action script 1.but now i can't seem to find my way around it. Used to be able to add the script to the button itself.[code]what I want to do is to have a toggle button show and hidethe objects on the movie.
I'm successfully using MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, but I need to know which one to use for when the end-user mouse away from the button. I've tried MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_OUT, but neither worked. Where can we find info resources that explain each one in details?
I have a flash piece that replaces the mouse with a knife/sword graphic. When the user clicks (anywhere) the knife animates, 'slashing' the background. The click does something like..knife.gotoAndPlay(2);The animation is about 10 frames long... The problem is sometimes the click does nothing, as if it takes a single click just to focus the mouse. Rapid-clicking seems to have the desired effect if it wasn't for the aforementioned bug. I've tried a mouse listener as well as the standard on... methods and I'm still having the issue.Also, unfortunately due to client restrictions I'm having to code this flash piece in AS2 as opposed to AS3.
What object do I add my Mouse event listener to in order to capture clicks on a video? I've tried the netsream object and the video player object, but I don't get anything with either. Is this even possible?
Im tring to remake most of my projects that i've created so far in class's and packages but it seems to be a mission.
I have the gameMain_Controls class which is the linkaged to the actually fla. then i have a custom cursor class and a char class the gameMain_Controls pulls objects into the stage as children of the background fron the char class.
now my problem is to get the cursor to hittest of mouse over and at least do a trace out put:
code im trying at the moment which is also in a different class ...called the rollOver_Controls:
if (flap_Control.flap.hitTestObject(Dino_Control.layla)) { trace("lal hit"); }
[Code]....
but the hittest jsut never occurs im guessing the problem is which the location of the object, the container i mean ...but when i try to link it that way i get even more problems
I have a button and I'd like to have the user right click on the button and then display the menu that will allow them to copy the highlighted text, but I'm getting the infamous 1119: Access of possibly undefined property RIGHT_CLICK through a reference with static type class. What am I doing wrong?
How can I block a mouse listener object when I roll over a button?There's got to be a way to do this w/out removing the listener on roll over, then adding it back on roll out.
