ActionScript 3.0 :: MaintainAspectRatio Using The Video Class Object
Feb 2, 2011
How do I maintain aspect ratio using the Video Class object "<media:Video id="video" />", not the VideoDisplay or FLVPlayback objects. I am using the Video Class object, Netstream and NetConnector, using LifeSize as my server, protocol is RTMP and the url is like: [URL]
Everything plays back fine and for the most part my code is like this:
I am trying to put together a class for playing video using the Video object. So far, I have only been successful in getting the Video object to fully work when not using a class setup. In the documentation, I have read that to use the Video object you have to actually drag/create the video object onto the stage. So, in my next attempt, I created the video object onto the stage within a MovieClip but still trying to use a class/linkage setup with the Video inside inside of a MovieClip container. No luck there either. Here is the basic AS2 script that is linked to a MovieClip that contains the Video object ("video" instance) within it.
Code: class VideoTest { private var nc:NetConnection; private var ns:NetStream;
[code].....
I am getting the following error with this script.
Code: Line 14: There is no property with the name 'video'. Line 15: There is no method with the name 'video'.
I'm having some troubles with the use of interface and inheritance in AS3. I've done lots of OOP in the past and what I'm trying to do seems obvious to me, but doesn't work in AS3. The question is : Is it possible to override a function that return an Object of class A, and make it return an Object of Class B which extends A ? It seems not to be possible, since I'm getting a signature error in Flash, when compiling. For example, the following set of class do not compile (the code in function definition doesn't matter):
I have a class CoverPoint extends Pointwith some extra function.except for that ther is no difference. I would like to use the functions of Point with a return value of Point, to calculate those CoverPoints.Can i turn the return value into CoverPoint (since all the vars are the same, there shouldn't be a problem with that, right?), so that it can be stored in my var cP:CoverPoint;
I pose this question to you. I have created a video player that functions off of the Video Class, netConnection and NetStream and up until this very moment works 100% as it should.The hang up I'm getting is that I have a onMetaData function that checks ALL of the flv's or f4v's metadata as it is loaded into the player, so i can use it to control some other elements of the player. Here is the code I am using:
Code: my_ns.onMetaData = function (md:Object) { for (propName:String in md){;
I've got a document class (EgoGame.as) and another class (Ball.as) which has been duplicated to deal with several different video pieces. Inside the document class is a list of 'if' statements which decide which video should be played. At the moment I'm doing it the old fashioned way whereby if the condition is true....it tells the relevant Ball class to gotoAndPlay a certain frame within the linked movieclip...
I am creating an actionscript video player in Haxe and to avoid the asyncError I am trying to create a custom Object. How do I do this is Haxe? The client property specifies the object on which callback methods are invoked. The default object is the NetStream object being created. If you set the client property to another object, callback methods will be invoked on that other object. Here is my code.
public class Example { public function Example () { }[code]............
You can see that the two last classes extend the first one, and both have the 'variable' property. In case that I have an instance of Example and I am sure it is also an ExtendedExample OR AnotherExtendedExample instance, is there some way to access the 'variable' property? Something like
function functionThatReceivesAnExtendedExample (ex:Example):void { if(some condition that I may need) { ex.func()
Using Flash CS5 Professional I have created a symbol, dragged it onto the stage, and given it an instance name of GreenLight1. If I want to make this visible from the document class, I can simply do the GreenLight1.visible=true; and poof it's good to go when I test the file. As long as I stay in the document class I am good to go, but now I'm trying to move to another class and hitting ALL kinds of trouble just trying to get Flash to allow me to access this simple object. All I am looking to do is have this GreenLight1 go invisible (visible=false) when a certain condition occurs in this new class and Flash just won't let me access GreenLight1 at all. Things I've tried thus far:
stage is passed to the class and is referenced by _stage and is working just fine when I do _stage.addchild or anything like that. So I have tried "_stage.GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property GreenLight1 not found on flash.display.Stage and there is no default value." My document class extends Sprite, so I figured I'd try the root function. So I tried "Sprite(root).GreenLight1.visible=false;" and I get "1119: Access of possibly undefined property GreenLight1 through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite." I tried to create the Resource class as described therein. To which I came across the same problem that I started with in that it doesn't know what GreenLight1 is to begin with so I got "1120: Access of undefined property GreenLight1." Here is my code for Resource.as (am I supposed to pass something to this class from the document class?)
I have question regarding removing instantiated objects. Let's say i have a main class in which i instantiate a custom video player (or whatever) class:
[Code]...
From my experience, if i don't destroy for example event listeners from my VideoPlayer class and just remove VideoPlayer class the way described they still get fired with null exception messages etc. This is something that's bugging me for a while so i would really like to know what's best thing to do here?
When I use MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT the target is [object MovieClip], but when I use MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT I get [object Bildspel] - and Bildspel is my class. The thing is that when I use ROLL_OUT I'm not able to delete the targets ENTER_FRAME event.
Ok. So heres what I am trying to do. I want one movie clip to follow another one that I move around with actions on the main timeline.The problem is that the follower clip is linked to a class file and I cannot find a way to find the players position.
I found myself loading a new XML file every day and so decided to create a small class that will load the xml file and return it.The class is loading the file but when i try to return it to a new xml object in the document class it doesnt load it.I think that it's something to with the return being in a nested function but i tried a few ways and non seems to work.
[DOCUMENT CLASS] loadXML:LoadXML = new LoadXML(); myXML:XML = new XML(loadXML.loadXMLFile("gallery.xml"));[code].....
I have created a class, call it Class1, that has various objects drawn on the stage (drawn in the IDE). It also has a function, called setColour, for changing the colour of those objects. The function works fine if I call it from within Class1.
Now I have another class, call it testClass1, that imports Class1 and calls the setColour function. First of all, none of the stage objects from Class1 are visible. Secondly, when setColour tries to modify the colour of an object, I get the error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
How can i cast a object to another type? in AS3 i tried putting (objectType) infront of the variable but it doesnt work, below i have added objects of fishes into the child, and i am getting the fishes back out when mouse down is triggered, and then calling the fishes what to do. however i cant call the method of the custom class fish because it is a displayobject.[code]...
The following is that long only because I gave examples of what I want to know, not because it is complex .I have three basic questions regarding AS 3.0 classes.
1. How can I make a class object interact with an object on stage?
For example, when I have a square (mc_Square) with class "square" attached to it and I want it to trace "Colliding!" and print the X and Y of the mc_Box on contact with an on-stage *hollow* box (mc_Box) that has no class attached to it.how to do it vice-versa would also be awesome .
2. How can I make a class object interact with the same class object? For example, when I have two squares (mc_Square) that both have the class "square" attached to it and when they collide, it prints the X and Y of both of them.
3. How can I make a class object interact with a different class object?
For example, when I have two squares mc_Square1 with class "square1 (that also has a variable Primary=true written in it)" and a mc_Square2 with class "square2"; When they collide, the one with Primary=true would be removed and it's X,Y position traced.
I have created an enemy object from document class. if my enemy score becomes zero, the enemy must get removed.Is there any way to remove that object by destroy the object from document class?.
im creating multiple objects (the number is dynamic)they move randomly, but i want dont want them to be able to pass thru each other.i'm having dificulty on writing the hitTextObject code because I dont know how to refer the other objects.[code]
I'm new to Flash AS3. I started making a game and I am a bit confused. Let's assume that I want to create a game that has multiple levels/modes, how can I do this in an object orientated way?
When i create games in other languages e.g. XNA C#, i create a separate class then create an object of that class within the main class and run the game based on a simple statement.
I'm tring to create instance of class, when I got name of this class.I think better to explain my problem will be this code:[code]I invoke some Function, and I get error: [Fault] exception, information=ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable Level0Img was not defined.
Steps - Make 2 MovieClips. One MC will be a 500x400 picture. The other MC, will be a simple circle called "Ball". Make that Ball a Class by editing the properties, and assigning it the Class name "Ball" as well.1) Picture is static, so we have the picture MC sitting on Frame 1.2) Within the Document Class file, instantiate the new "Ball" class with name "ball" 2a) I want the "Ball" to be added to the picture class, so that every time I call it, the Ball is inside the picture. If you were to trace it - trace (picture.ball);Anyone know how to go about doing this? The code for simply instantiating the "Ball" class = Code:var ball = new Ball(); addChild(ball);
I'm using Adobe Flex Builder 3 with Flex 3.1 SDK. There is a sample code in documentation to play flv files, however I have compilation errors when I try to use it. Basically it says that there is no such method NetStream.play("file.flv") which takes string argument. There is one without arguments. Plus, It could find method attachNetStream in Video class. I'm confused, what I'm doing wrong!?
i've made my own video player class, which uses the flash's natural video class (flash.media.Video) and the netStream and netConnection class. all works fine when i test it from a server (not locally) using IE 8, untill i refresh the page i get the following error:
