I have some background music playing on my website and when I click to play one of my FLV on the site I want to background music to mute. Also when the FLV is finish (complete) the background music back on.
how to do this, I'm a little rustly on this but know it is easy to do, seen it done many many times?
i want to have the music always playing and the ability to mute different parts. It is for a project where you click on different people and they come to life to play music. a stop and play would not have them in snyc. I have not been using action script long
var my_sound:Sound = new Sound();
my_sound.load(new URLRequest("triumphant.mp3" ) );
function setMute(vol){
var sTransform:SoundTransform = new SoundTransform(0);

I am using the Sound class to play both music and sound in my game (.mp3). I am using the:
SoundMixer.soundTransform = new SoundTransform(0);
But, I will need something to mute only sound or only music, this would mute both.

I've produced an instructional animation for a client who now wants to add a mute button. There are several sound clips throughout the movie. How do I achieve this?
View 4 RepliesWe do not use the playbar for our projects.. we use independent buttons.I struggled making a widget /button for Captivate 4 that would Mute/Unmute all sounds... In case you are struggling too... here is the code that worked for me:(you will need to know how to make a widget)
var soundOn:Boolean = true;
var globalSound = new Sound(_level0);
muteOffOn_btn.onRelease = function(){[code]....
My flash application plays and streams lots of sounds at different and random times.it also has some loaded swf with sound...is there any simple method to mute all the sounds using as3.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to mute all sounds in a whole scene? I want to have a button that turns off all sounds and stops all sounds from playing until i press the button again. The button is done and there's a "set(gallerysound,1) instruction in it when first pressed, and then it changes to zero the second time around. But now I'm stuck. How do i use this var to control the sounds in other keyframes? (preventing the sounds from playing until gallerysound changes again) ?
View 7 RepliesI'm making this small app in Flash CS5 using AS3. Sounds are being reproduced using flash.media.Sound and flash.media.SoundChannel. Locally , everything sound perfect, but when I run the game from a server it just goes mute.
View 1 RepliesI have just done couple of banners for Dettol with BG sound, now the client wants the sound to be stopped when he navigates away to a different web pageThe issue is Mouse-over the banner and press alt-tab. The music keeps playing and you can't stop it!Without mouse-over (music is playing at thispoint), press alt-tab and go to another application. Press alt-tab and comeback to the browser and the music starts playing, even though the mouse is not over the animation for reference
View 1 RepliesI have a client who wants to add something to a flash presentation that is almost done. There is a root swf that is pulling in a nav screen swf, which in turn is pulling in the text screen swf of that corresponding nav swf. So at the start, the root swf automatically loads nav1.swf, and nav1.swf automatically loads text1.swf. Once that plays, the next button loads nav2.swf into the root swf, and in turn, nav2.swf automatically loads text2.swf onto it. I hope that makes sense. So all the text is going to be on the screen with pix, etc, and we are going to have a VO speak the text. The VO will be on the text swf files since there is fading of pix, text, etc and we need it to match. With it almost done, the client wants a mute button added to the thing.
The question is, if the mute button is on every text swf file, is there some variable that I can pass that would keep the next text swf file from playing it's VO? The client doesn't want people to have to keep clicking the mute button with every page. I know, I know, if I knew they wanted a mute button, I never would have built it this way. It's going on the web, and I figured for loading purposes, this was the best way. Now I think Im screwed... Or rather, they are. They approved this. But can it be done? Can I pass a variable from either the root swf or the navs swf files that tells the incoming text swf files to stay muted?
getting the script that stops all running sounds in the flash movie?I want to make a button that when pressed all sounds will stop, and when pressed again all sounds play again.Also, I need to know how to make a volume bar to increase or decrease the sound volume. Can any one give me a simple way to do these 2 things?
View 5 RepliesI need a little advice. I've got a set of swfs that are all part of one training, and within these movies are a few sound effects attached to button instances. I want the user to be able to click a button to turn the sound on or off at any time during the training.
My first idea was to create a variable called wantSound, which each sound instance checks before deciding to play. This is working perfectly. There's a toggle switch on the main timeline that sets sound to on or off, and when a sound is supposed to play, it checks to see if wantSound=true, and plays, or if it is false, it does not.
This works fine on each individual .swf, but when a new .swf loads in, the sound defaults back to true, and the user has to turn it off again. I imagine this could be fixed by loading each movie into different levels instead of loading them into level0 or root, but as this is not how I originally created the file, that will take a lot of work to handle aligning the loaded movies and parking them (making sure none of the buttons are active on the level below). I'm lazy, what can I say? :-)
I've been looking around at similar questions, and found a decent tutorial on Macromedia's site about using javascript to pass a variable from flash to HTML. I went through that, and managed to get Flash to send my wantSound variable to HTML with no problem. Check here for the tutorial.
The only problem is that in macromedia's example for sending data from HTML back to Flash, they use a text field for getting the variable. I just want to take the variable sent from Flash to HTML and send it back to Flash when requested (at the beginning of the next SWF.)
I am using an xml based slide navigation shell that uses next and back buttons to page through content.
If I use SWFs with embedded audio (which I need to do sometimes) the audio will overlap after I leave the slide, SoundMixer.stopAll() is not doing the trick. I think removeChild may be the direction I need, but I'm not sure how to implement so far.
Is there a way I can share sound assets between parent and child swfs?
Currently, I have a parent swf that loads a child swf (and each have preloaders) and some of them have the same sound assets. I would rather only load the sounds once... can I reference a sound even if it 'lives' in another swf?
I've downloaded the the Flash mp3 Player. I did some minor modifications to it and it works well. The only problem I have is that when the mute button is pressed, the current song is mute(s.setVolume(0)), but when the next song comes up, the mute button is not in mute state(Volume not set to 0). I want to keep the mute state unchanged when the songs are playing untill the mute button is pressed again.
View 6 RepliesSo i have a flv playing on a flash load. I need the mute button toggled to "mute" by default.
Code:
my_FLVPlybk.muteButton = mutebtn;
that is the mute button instance i am using.
I followed the mp3player tutorial (part 3) from [URL] and got it working fine. Only problem is that the setVolume I'm trying to use with my music is affecting all my other sounds - button sounds and background sound. I'm aware of the createEmptyMovieClip/attachSound approach and got it working on my other sounds. But Lee's tutorial-mp3player is using a slight different technique, and so my normal approach doesn't quite work.
[Code]....
I want to synchronize sounds perfectly to do a kind of Audio Mixer, using different sounds. [URL] does it perfectly, I've been researching and researching and I just don't know how to do it! How does [URL] synchonize audio so perfectly? you can even change sounds and the new ones will come on time! How do I do that? Is it just Action Script? or something else?
View 1 RepliesI have a film with 4 scenes in it: Here's a link to the film and as you can see the film does not play the music the second time because of the StopAllSounds function which is probably the wrong code to use. The first scene is just a button with 1 frame, a stop action and a music clip. The second scene is the film. The third scene is the credits fourth scene is a Play again button. I have a Stop all Sounds action on the fourth scene because if I do not use it and I press the Play Again button, the music from the first song keeps playing but also the music from the film starts up again so it starts to play twice. What I want to know is, how do I get the music to stop at the end of the film but start up again once I hit Play Again?
I am using Flash CS3 if that helps and using Actionscript2.
I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
View 3 RepliesI am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Is it possible to access local swfs using a remote swf
View 1 RepliesI am trying to find a way to preload swfs while other swfs are playing, i've found several scripts and tutorials, but none of them seem to work for my needs.
View 1 RepliesFlash - 8 : Above is an example of what I would like to do/have done. I've gotten as far as loading the "loaded.swf" into the "start.swf" but my problem is I'd love to use that little loading action I made earlier without copying and pasting into the new movie the same actions for a different link. So, how do I load "loaded2.swf" into "loaded.swf" via the link in "loaded.swf"?
View 1 RepliesI'm working with the FLVPlayback component but the mute functionality is a bit of a black box to me and it seems Macromedia has forgotten to mention anything about it in the help files.I'm trying to mute a playing movie with actionscript. The closest I got is using myFLVplayback.volume = 0. However volume 0 is not the same as mute and pressing the mute controller will do nothing and leave the volume at 0.I can use the volume slider but I can't stand not knowing how to mute the sound through actionscript.
[URL]regarding this tutorial I started my site [URL] to get some trasition effects but im getting somewhat different since the external SWFs take time to load. isn't it better to create "intro and outro" on the same time line instead of loading external SWFs bcos once the movie loaded as a whole will lead to smooth and contineous transitions.
