ActionScript 3.0 :: NetConnection / Client Object And FLV Files
Jan 12, 2011
I'm been impressed by just how terrible the NetConnection docs are. The NetConnection API:
[URL]. It has a client object that "Indicates the object on which callback methods are invoked" but no where can I find a list of the functions that are actually called?
That seems pretty obscene. I can find people mentioning onBWCheck and other functions that were throwing me errors, and I've seen someone mention onMetaData.. but this is hardly a complete list. Just casual mentions across various websites. I don't understand why this fundamental class is so obscure.
I have a big issue with FMS 3.0 and specially with netconnections. Sometimes, when one client closes its netconnection, all the other clients of the FMS are also disconnected automatically. I am trying to find an explanation but nothing... It seems to be a bug as, most of the time everything works very well, but sometimes (not often) this strange behaviour happens. I don't know what to do and it's really annoying as it affects the reliability of my application.
A client connected to the FMS for playing live video. The problem has been found that when FMS shutdown the network, the client's NetConnection didn't dispatch any event. But when the client shutdown the network the client's NetConnection will dispatch NetConnection. Connect.Closed event. How could flash client know the FMS' server side networking problem? Does it necessary to use heartbeat mechanism between FMS and client?
I want to count the online user, when each client login the system,it's connecting to the server and increase a variable stored in a remote shared object. But when client connecting server, problems arises:Error #2126: NetConnection object must be connected
My web layout:
Website --- apps --- userLogin
Code snippets:
rtmpnc = new NetConnection(); rtmpnc.objectEncoding = ObjectEncoding.AMF0; var uri:String = ServerConfig.getChannel("my-rtmp").endpoint + "/userLogin"; rtmpnc.connect("http://202.206.249.193:2367/userLogin");
Flex Mobile applications are view based. And I'm using Adobe Cirrus (im assuming its the same for any FMS netConnection) Does anyone know how to maintain a persistent netConnection between views in a flex Mobile Application?[code]I want to be able to trace(netConnection.nearID) on this view, go to another view and trace(netConnection.nearID) and get the same result. and be able to have a cirrusStatusHandler() function like I have a above to listen for cirrus events. Then be able to do netConnection.close() on another view if i wanted to to be able to close the connection.
Brainstorming Ideas what I was thinking I could do:I was thinking I could maybe set up the connection on the main ViewNavigatorApplication mxml file, but i have so much going on and being triggered based on netConnection status events it seems it might be really complicated to handle everything from that mxml file on each of the views. Maybe I could declare the netCon vars in the ViewNavigatorApplication mxml file, and just add event listeners to those vars on each view? But i'm not familiar with accessing vars that exist in the mainViewNavigatorApplication mxml file.I just need to be able to make the connection once, and then it stays persistent until I call netConnection.close()I guess I could use separate views where I dont need the netConnection and just have this particular view use "states" inside the view where the netCon needs to be persistent. It just seems silly be be using states since this is a view based application.[code]and the same in my Home View but i'm getting a null error when i try and call trace(netConnection.nearID) in the crationComplete function on profileView (which is after homeView) to see if it still has the same netConnection and should then be able to get the same nearID
I've built a application that communicates with Coldfusion cfc functions via Remoting. I've noticed that the NetConnection object disconnects after each call, is this expected behaviour? For some reason I was expecting the NetConnection object to stay connected until I closed it myself (I'm making about 1 request per second and had planned for it to stay open).
I'm trying to create a NetConnection object in action script 2 and I get this error. I get the same error when I try to create a NetStream object. I've looked at many other examples using NetConnection and they don't import anything relating to NetConnection. Is there something in the Flash settings that I need to set in order to get this working?
If I'm streaming live video and chatting in an FMS app, should each component have its own instance of NetConnection or should they share one? Was thinking perhaps the quality of the live video stream would be hurt in a sharing situation but am not sure the architecture works like that.
From a development standpoint, I'd like to make one NetConnection instance in my main application file and connect with it. Then, when successfully connected, I'd like to pass that connection into any custom components that need it.
It is fully finished and before the site was finished we discussed charges for updates. They just requested the source files. We had never discussed this, and I do not want to give away my source files and all of my code. What is standard? Am I wrong to have them go through me for updates since this is what was discussed?
what to set in FMS config files to help me with rebuffering on client side? The player (flash, rtmp) rebuffers a lot (approx. twice a minute) with no good reason - i've tried several players with various buffer settings, clients and server have sufficient bandwidth for the stream (live streaming) - so i guess this can be helped server side - can it and how?
With flash, is it possible to compress an audio file or convert it to a compressed format such as mp3 after it has been selected using a file browser?
I'd like to compress audio files before they are uploaded to the server to save bandwidth. Although I doubt that such direct binary access and manipulation is possible, I'd like to be sure.
I need to send the list of user to the client swf. Once I initialized the User object collection to an array, array element is undefined when I read it from the client.
My goal is to build a program trader for the upcoming CNBC porfolio challenge. I need a way to collect quotes, current positions and place orders in the flash object.
It's a bit vague - the whole thing with AMF. On one hand we have a client capable of serializing and sending everything from integers to XML documents and ByteArray streams, but on the other hand we have the FMS with a JavaScript host. Where is the bridge? :-) I mean how does one work with the objects, in particular, a ByteArray, received through the [generic] wire? It's easy with numbers and strings, but no word on more complex objects.
I am using shared object to share data between two users. First user connect to shared object and set some value in shared object. Please consider that second user has not connected with the shared object yet.Now when second user connects to the server and try to get that property set by first user, he could get shared object but could not get properties of Shared object set by first user. I observed few times that Second user can get these properties within "Sync" event between two users. But I would like to get these values for Second user in any stage (i.e. in load event etc.). Whenever Second user tries to get the property of Shared object, the object will reset the actual property value and then return reset value.
1) Is there any way to get all the properties of shared object before sync event called, as I want to get it immediately when second user connect to the application and perform next task based on the values stored in shared object.
2) Is it possible for second user to check whether any property has been set by first user? So that second user can use the property instead of reset it.
I am running Media Server 3.5.2. The server is still non production. I copy video files to webroot/vod/video.flv. From the client workstation I attempt to access [URL] and get nothing. It was my understanding video's copied here could be viewed as such.
how can I find on fms server that client disconnected if if client disconnected due to power cut off. I client manually close the application then onDisconnect on server is called but if due to power cut off it does not called.
Can we perform client to client file transfer, client to server can be done by FileReference. but how do we do client to client transfer, for example if a user wants to send file to another user to whom he is chatting online.
I am trying to build a client-to-client streaming program - client 1 has a webcam and client 2 will connect to client 1 and be able to view the webcam. Is this possible using 2 swf clients? Can someone point me in the right direction as to what commands would be used to connect the two clients. I have tried: binary sockets Connect() where each clients points to the other and they both time-out NetConnection to try to point each client to one another to establish a connection, but no luck with that either; this seems more oriented towards streaming content to a flash media server rather than to another flash client.
We're writing a flash application that can download a MP3 file, convert it to a Sound object, get the raw data and make some processing (like adding sounds, change octaves). After the processing, we want to send the data back to the server in chunks, so the server will be able to glue the data together and recover the new generated file. The problem is: if we send to the server "wav" pieces of sound, we are able to glue them together without any problem in the generated file. However, if we convert each wav piece to a mp3 file (so we can send a smaller file to the server) and join the mp3 files at the server, the result is a sound with some problems at the merge point.
This is how we load the mp3 file from the server:
sourceSnd.load(new URLRequest("sample url to mp3")); sourceSnd.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, carregou);
This is how we convert each piece of mp3 to bytearray and wav:
I am new to actionscript. I have created a script that will play server side sound object and client side mp3 files alternately. Now, I would like to play the client side mp3 first then only play server side sound object alternately. However, I have no idea how can I do so. The following is the code that need to be swapped:
I want to download files from the server side to client side without prompting a window to the user to download when any updates happen at server side.Right now I am using urlstream class but first file is downloading completely rest of the files contents downloading partially.
editCode sample taken from other post. Warning: it's a huuuge chunk o'code.
I click on a button in "menu.swf" to load my "game.swf" into the window...
I would like to know how can I use the "gameEngine" object in my "game.swf"?
Also, I have to code that runs on a "left-arrow" key-press in "menu.fla", but I also have some code running on a "left-arrow" key-press in "game.fla".
Once "game.swf" is loaded, and I press the "left-arrow" both the code from "menu.swf" and "game.swf" executes.. I only want the game.fla's "left-arrow" code to execute?
I also noticed that "game.swf" is basically layered over "menu.swf". Is there a more efficient way to load .swf files?
There are a number of posts on here about merging XML with Java, but I can't seem to find any reference to Actionscript for the same task. I have a group of XML files that I need to load. I want them to sort into one XML Object in memory. For example, let's say these were my XML files:
