Flex :: Get Property Values From Shared Object In Client's Load Event?
Mar 5, 2010
I am using shared object to share data between two users. First user connect to shared object and set some value in shared object. Please consider that second user has not connected with the shared object yet.Now when second user connects to the server and try to get that property set by first user, he could get shared object but could not get properties of Shared object set by first user. I observed few times that Second user can get these properties within "Sync" event between two users. But I would like to get these values for Second user in any stage (i.e. in load event etc.). Whenever Second user tries to get the property of Shared object, the object will reset the actual property value and then return reset value.
1) Is there any way to get all the properties of shared object before sync event called, as I want to get it immediately when second user connect to the application and perform next task based on the values stored in shared object.
2) Is it possible for second user to check whether any property has been set by first user? So that second user can use the property instead of reset it.
I need to save email-id in my login form through the cookies. if I use shared object I am able to save but my requirement is need to save in cookies. How can I save? I got sample code from net. Attaching that code `package com {
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
/** * The Cookie class provides a simple way to create or access * cookies in the embedding HTML document of the application.
I am trying to create an AS3 Fla to score a quiz's results. The quiz is a separate swf that stores its results to a shared object ("G1"), and both the quiz swf and this new scoring swf would reside on the same website.
I've tried scripting the AS3 in the new scoring Fla but I keep getting error messages.
So far, here's what I have that doesn't work.
....
The goal is to open the scoring swf, populate some variables with the values from the SO, then (not yet tried in the script) apply some if/else conditions to show specific results based on scores.
Basically trying to update a "userlist" shared object everytime someone connects.Administration console live log reads:"Sending error message: ...main.asc: line 12: TypeError: this.usersSO has no properties"
I'm connected ok. Here's the server code Doesn't like "usersSO.setProperty()" call: application.onAppStart = function(){ this.uniqueID=1; this.users = new Object(); this.usersSo = SharedObject.get("userlist", false); }
I wanna to make some flash for save and load color... Click button to change button color and click again return to old color and Save lase color When run project to show last save color
i want to create some 1 button for save and 1 button for load all shared object in my projectthis is my code for save and load and i want to create 1 button for save and 1 button for load last check point
Have a flash picture slide show that fades in and out to transition from picture to picture. Would like to use a shared object so that when someone goes to the next page it will load on the picture it left of at. Should the shared object load at the last state or should it save the frame position? The movie has so many pictures that people will only see the first couple pictures every single time they change pages and never get to the end of the movie. This was made in Flash CS5
I have developed a game in flash and I am trying to get a save and load function so that the user can come back to the game that they were playing. Can this be done using the Shared Object....
I'm playing with Local Shared Objects, and I was able to save and load simple data types like strings and integers. Pretty cool.
I want to Save/Load a Bitmap Object but I'm having problems. I think I got a Bitmap Object to save but when I loaded it back in, it was basically a blank bitmap. I located the actual .SOL file on my computer and opened it up. It had some basic Bitmap info like scale, rotation, visible, width, height, etc, but NOT the actual bitmap.
So I realized that I need to be saving/loading a BitmapData object instead of just Bitmap. BitmapData holds the actual bitmap pixels, I think. Anyway I saved out a BitmapData object. When i tried to load it back in, I get a type coercion error: "Type Coercion failed: cannot convert Object@df355b1 to flash.display.BitmapData". I dont get it because this error didnt occur for Strings, ints, or Bitmap Objects. Whats happening?
Also, I looked again at the .SOL file after saving out the BitmapData object, And I dont see any pixel data there. The bitmap I'm saving is 800x800 so the .SOL file should be pretty big but its just a tiny file so I know the pixels havn't been saved properly.
Here is the code I'm using (Simplified - error handling removed, etc)
Code: // save var mySo:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("mysharedobjecttest"); mySo.data.testA = 14; mySo.data.testB = "hello this is a test";
Given a dynamic or non-dynamic class like the following: package { public class MyClass { public var myProperty:String; public var myBooleanProperty:Boolean; public function MyClass() {} }}
Flex 3 allows you to assign a value to myProperty like this: myClassInstance["myProperty"] = "myValue"; myClassInstance["myBooleanProperty"] = true;
I regularly parse XML to get property names and their values then update correlated classes using this technique; however, Flex 4 no longer allows assigning the boolean property. I don't have a work-around.
If you trace the results: trace(myClassInstance.myProperty) // Returns "myValue" trace(myClassInstance.myBooleanProperty) // Returns null
I need to send the list of user to the client swf. Once I initialized the User object collection to an array, array element is undefined when I read it from the client.
since updating my Flash Player plugin from 10 to 10.1, I'm seeing a weird crash when accessing shared objects. Flex Builder's debugger pops up and prints a stack trace like this:
undefined at flash.net::SharedObject$/getLocal() at my.code::MyClass$/load()[/my/path/to/my/MyClass.as:27] (...)
This happens when calling SharedObject.getLocal("someString") for the second time for the same string, though it doesn't always crash. When using another browser on the same machine (not configured as the preferred debugging browser in Flex Builder), Flash Player remains silent. The code is wrapped in a try/catch(Error) block which does not catch this error. I'm using Flex SDK 3.5 and Flex Builder 3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.
The client-side application is a Flex application and communicate with server-side java application using blazeds.As you know,most browsers don't cache SWFs loaded over https,but i want load the swfs through http so that the client brower can cache them and communicate with the server-side over https ?
Is it possible to load a .properties file from a client computer using adobe flex? I have a flex app that needs to access a server and multiple URLs but the URLs may change frequently. So I think modifying and loading the URLs from a .properties file would be the easiest way update the URLs
I was able to use florians suggestion and I've added the code below if anyone else is interested. I used the example here URLLoader.
public function URLLoaderDataFormatExample(event:Event):void { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("file:///c:/temp/prop.properties"); var variables:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
We are going to develop a simple chatroom in flex using Red5.Should we store UserList in a Remote Shared Object or Server Side List?Are there any example exit on Red5 or FMS , which uses Server Side programming and Remote Shared Objects? Red5 examples are not documented at all.
I have a page that I'm working on that works great except I keep getting an "Output" message stating: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at StillFrameFoto_fla::MainTimeline/portfolioOut() I'm pretty sure I just need to get rid of my button instance, but I don't know how. I have my buttons on frame 1 and I want them completely gone when it moves to frame 2. Here is the code for one of my buttons on the first frame:
I just would like to know how can I dynamically change a label's values while on mousedown.I basically have a mousedown event and I also have two labels in my application. What I would like to happen is to get the current x and y position of my mouse pointer as I move my mouse through the screen and changing the values of the labels into the values of the current x and y coordinates of the mouse pointer.
protected function object_mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { curX = this.mouseX;
........
However, what this code does is that it records the coordinates of my mouse as it moves across the screen. What i want now to do is just to get the coordinates of the mouse while event is on mouseDown. What i'm thinking is to call the mouseDown event and ask it if the mouse is currently down, if it returns true, then i'll start recording.
I seem to be having a recurring problem attaching events to a button i have created within 2 other movieclips.I get the following error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
So it looks like it can't find the button, in order to attach the event listener. The question is why? I am attaching a similar event to a button on the main timeline and that works fine. So it looks like a scope issue, but I am referring to it properly.
I have a custom component on which I have bound an array collection to one of its proeprties: <comp:MyComp id="comp" prop="{images}" /> images is an arraycollection In the components' code I would like to know which event to listen on everytime images updates props. I tried a setter on props but the setter only gets called once when props is first set. I tried the collection event but I get "Update" events sent on top of 'add' and 'remove' events and I would rather not have to manage those. So is there an event(flex or otherwise) that is fired every time a component property is updated by a bindable property?
Ive been using the same bit of code to load XML data into various little projects... but I keep getting the same error (thought oddly not in all browsers)
I am working in Flex Builder 3 and I am trying to figure out this error. The error console reads "Access of undefined property EVENT." I am not understanding why this error is showing when I have already imported flash.events.Event. Flex is not recognizing with even the hinting helper pop up that appears when I type the addEventListener(It should appear after the opening parenthesis right? Also, I cleaned the targets and still no luck.
Where presenter variable is defined here in MXML and a Presenter class has boxBusy and boxErrorMessage variables defined as bindable property change events:
[Bindable(event="propertyChange")] function get boxBusy():Boolean; function set boxBusy(value:Boolean):void;
....
PROBLEM is that whenever I change boxErrorMessage for the presenter, I see the affect in MXML but nothing happens at all when I change boxBusy. Is there something extra I need to do with boolean variable?
I have an Object in actionscript which has a few dozens of properties each of which is defined to be bindable and has its own change event. I would like to listen to any changes made to this object without having to add a listener to all of its properties. Is there a way in actionscript using which I can listen to any change in the values of an Object ?
I'm using a loader for people to use to upload their own images for a background, and I want it to remember the image the next time they come to the page, so is there any way to save the loader data in a shared object? I haven't tried just using something like
My problem is to find out the object which owned my property... for example: My Class : public class MyClass{ var myGroup:Group; //Spark Component ..... }
Now, I add my Group to another UIComponent. Next step in Class XYZ I wan't to get my MyClass Object ... but I can only see the var myGroup public class XYZ { ... public function getObject(group:Group):MyClass { return group.????; } ... }
