ActionScript 3.0 :: Object's Timer Notify Another Object?

I have a game where there is a main application and separate SWC with classes for the objects in the game.
 
I have one object interacting with a second, where the second object's class has a timer that gets started.  When the timer is up, I need the first object to move on to the next object.
 
For example, if the first object is a hose and the second object is a bucket, when I move the hose over the bucket I am starting a timer that increments how full the bucket is.  When the bucket is full, I need to have the host move to the next bucket. To make life interesting, there will be a few hoses filling a few buckets, so each bucket needs to tell ITS hose to move on.
 
For some reason, I am getting myself quite confused about how best to accomplish this.

I am working on a very simple game in Flash. I want to make all the animations framerate agnostic, so that I can change the framerate without affecting the flow and speed of the game.I read somewhere that if you want to do that, you simply create a Timer object and attach an event listener to this timer.

What if I have many objects that have to listen to the same timer? See the code to understand what I am trying to do. At this stage nothing breaks, but the event does not fire.Here is the Main class, the one that runs on swf execution:

I'm trying to create a timer object within a movieclip, which, due to the dynamic nature of the movieclips, works well. However, when a timed function is kicked off I'm having trouble referencing the 'parent' movieclip.I'm trying the code below but the'Evt.currentTarget.parent' line throws an error. Anyone know how to make that reference work?

Maybe I'm blind (or just dumb) but I've been searching through the API trying to find out how to get the time elapsed for a Timer object. I want to, at any given time, find out EXACTLY how much time(in milliseconds) has passed since a Timer Object has been started.

I've got several objects on a stage, each is an instance of a different class. Inside each of those classes is a timer, set to loop (basically refresh) every 5 seconds.Even after removing the instance from the stage and setting it to null, the timers continue in the background. Is there some way I can stop and remove all the timers with an object when I null it, or do I have to do that manually before removing the object?

I want to remove an object that is created in a loop, with a timer.

In function voegtoe I'm adding an Movieclip Object called man:

I want to remove this object after 2 seconds. The problem is that there are multiple 'man' objects.

So I have this Photo class than handles loading a pic, and dispatches an event when the loading is done with:[code]which is simple and works, but now I'd like to make something more advanced. I'd like to dispatch the load ratio.So far I have extended the Event class, with my own EventRatio class, and I can put properties on that class. The above code works most of the time but my concern is what happens if timer gets garbage collected? Is it possible that onTimerComplete will never fire because there are no other references to timer? I know timer has an internal list of handlers but that won't keep it from being GC'ed i think.

Ok I have this 100% width/height Flash embedded and when the user moves the mouse I want to display a panel, which disappears after x seconds if there is no more mouse movement.

I think I need an addEventListener, but I am not sure MOUSE_MOVE is the correct one. When the mouse stops moving I need to start x seconds to hide the panel, so I think with a timer?

When I use MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT the target is [object MovieClip], but when I use MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT I get [object Bildspel] - and Bildspel is my class. The thing is that when I use ROLL_OUT I'm not able to delete the targets ENTER_FRAME event.

I have an object which is assigned a number of properties:

but I'm not quite sure where to place this. If I place it outside of the object constructor, I get "term is undefined", I guess because it doesn't know what project_clips_array is - but if I declare project_clips_array in the constructor, it appears to need to be defined, i.e. I can't create a blank property. But I can't place it in the constructor either, because it doesn't seem to allow me to run a function within an object constructor. What is the proper syntax or arrangement of code for executing this function to get the array within the object?

I want to listen for a custom event dispatched from the document class in a custom subclass. For example, let's say in the document class I have:

So that the subclass will trace 'Event from document class received' when the 'customEvent' event from the document class is listened by the eventlistener. However, the output is only 'customEvent dispatched', meaning it wasn't heard in the subclass.

I am developing an application with Flex for the GUI and Restlet for the webservices. I have a strange problem. I put my XML as a property on a generic object, and send it as part of a POST request. But in the Restlet webservice, this XML is irretrievable. How do I retrieve it? I tried initialising the received Representation object to a DomRepresentation, but thats not working. If I put the received Representation object into a Form object, then getFirstValue is returning that XML as a string! I noticed that the contentType of the HTTPService was application/www-form-encoded so I set it to application/xml and its not helping either. I am creating an object pool to cache some recyclable objects in memory at the outset of my application in order to avoid (as much as possible) the performance issues caused by GC running; if possible I'd like to minimize the memory my object pool reserves, so I'm attempting to pool generic forms of the objects (with no methods) and then casting the generic variants to more specific and complex object types which extend the generic form when I actually want them on the stage.

The trouble is that to do this requires the generic variant class to import/extend MovieClip (because the more complicated objects are themselves MovieClips and make use of DisplayObject methods)-- does simply importing and/or extending a class add to the memory an object takes up when instantiated even if it never uses methods from the inherited class? It makes sense that it would, and some light profiling seems to suggest that it does, but I'm not 100% certain. About how large should an 'empty' MovieClip instance be in bytes?
