ActionScript 3.0 :: PNG To ByteArray To Multiple BitmapData Objects?

Sep 17, 2010

is there anything that will take a very large png (even larger then the total pixel limit of BitmapData) and load in the png as raw bytes into a bytearray and then take that array and grab only portions of the image to be able to generate a grid of usable bitmaps to render the very large png..I got to the point where I was able to get the png as a bytearray but from there I don't know how to grab a portion of the bytearray and attempt to load the partial bytes in a loader via loadBytes()..basically I think I need a decoder to decode the partial bytes to a bitmapdata.

Flash :: Merge Multiple BitmapData Objects Into One So That It Can Be Encoded Using PNGEncoder?

I am creating a program that is effectively an sprite creator. I'm very new to AS3, but I know JQuery, JS, PHP, etc. After going through multiple steps of selecting pieces to customize a character, you are supposed to be able to download the final product using fileReference(). Everything works, and I can download the image in the end, but the problem is that I cannot capture all of several movieclips on the stage, I can only capture one. Maybe this will help clarify:

Could it be that each of the movieclips I'm adding to the sprite have children of their own?

I need a function to change an ByteArray to BitmapData in 1 function:

Is this possible? Cause all I can find about this is first put the bytes in a loader. add listener to the complete event and then call a function that make the bitmap/bitmapdata. can this also be done in 1 function?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Capturing An Image BitMapData In ByteArray

Dec 19, 2010

I'm trying to grab the BitMapData from an Image, convert it to JPG, and send it to a server where it will be written to a file. It "looks" like it works, the resulting .jpg is the right size and displays in an image viewer, but there is no picture... just an off-white background. Here's a code snippet:

imgTemp.addEventListener(FlexEvent.UPDATE_COMPLETE , imageLoadedHandler);
...
private function imageLoadedHandler(event:Event):void {
if (imgTemp.width == 0) return;

[Code].....

Then send "ba" to the server where it's written as a .jpg.

The data "looks" right when I receive it on the server, correct length, bits look the same.

Flex :: EOF Error Encountered While Converting Bytearray To Bitmapdata

Mar 18, 2010

I am using [code]...

In the 4th line in the code above i am getting "Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered." I checked the length of the pixels object which is 4 times the width*height of the rect object. Given that setPixels() functions reads unsigned int from bytearray and sets that value to pixels, I think it should work.

But I have no clue why this wont work. The pixels object is filled after RLE decoding of the data which i get from a server.

Is there any work around or any other method which I could try to use. The loader class wont work as the data that I get from the server is not in any of the recognized format.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using ByteArray To Store Multiple Datatypes?

Jun 7, 2010

I'm making an Air app that involves users being able to load in a bunch of pics (of their choice), label them and move them around to place them in some sort of order. No problems there.

Crucially, I need them to be able to save the results for later use as it's an educational resource for teachers who might wish to prepare the resource at home or in their office for use in the classroom. Consequently, portability is crucial and I would like to simplify the process as much as possible.

As it stands, I could easily save all the necessary data as jpg's (maybe even one big jpg for the images) and the data as xml. However, having to move various files is guaranteed to confuse a lot of my users and so I'd like to create one file, with a bespoke file extension that they can move easily and then just double click to open the app, much as you would a Word document, for example.

Which leads me to the 'how'. I bit of research seems to indicate (although I may be wide of the mark here) that the ByteArray class may be of use here. Does this seem reasonable? All I want is to store everything in one file, basically.

Actionscript 3 :: Merging Two Bitmapdata Objects' Alpha Channels?

Aug 22, 2011

i have the following situation:

one drawing layer (graphics object with lineTo, etc.)

one png with an alpha channel (supposed to serve only as a mask)

now i want to be able to only draw lines within an area restricted by the png mask.

i am trying like this:

var bitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( 320, 320 );
bitmapData.draw( drawingLayer );
bitmapData.copyChannel( maskBitmapData, new Rectangle( 0, 0, 320, 320 ), new Point( 0, 0 ), BitmapDataChannel.ALPHA, BitmapDataChannel.ALPHA );

now the borders get cut off fine, but i get a black background, since the drawing layer has an alpha between the drawn lines (and it should remain like this) and the mask bitmap has an alpha outside the shape. so naturally the mask's alpha replaces the drawing layer's.

i tried it with merge, copyPixels and also with just setting the mask property on the drawing layer (i set everything to cacheAsBitmap) but to no avail.

ADDITION:

when trying to use a mask i tried it with

<s:BitmapImage id="mask" source="@Embed(source='...')" cacheAsBitmap="true" />

and also as

[Embed("...")]
private const BodyMask:Class;
var maskBitmap:Bitmap = new BodyMask();

and assigned them to the mask property of a s:Group element (cacheAsBitmap=true) where the operations on the graphics object occured. i also tried reassigning the mask after each draw operation.

ActionScript 3.0 :: BitmapData's Draw() Method Also Draws Objects With 0 Alpha

Mar 17, 2011

I am drawing a flash sprite on a BitmapData using its draw() method. This sprite has some nested objects with 0 alpha, yet the draw() method draws them on the bitmap data.

I think it has to do with the color transform I am using, but I have no idea how to change it to achieve the effect I want.

The color transform is the following:

Code:
new ColorTransform(1, 1, 1, 1, 255, 255, 255, 255);

I am using these values in order for the Bitmap to have white pixels wherever the object was, and black where there is nothing. The draw() also draws my alpha = 0 objects in white as well.

var bitmapData1:BitmapData = new Bitmapdata();
var bitmapData2:BitmapData = new Bitmapdata();
array.push(bitmapData1);

Flex :: Bitmapdata From Multiple Images (drag & Dropped)

I have an image loaded from BitmapData displayed in an Image control. This Image control has dragEnabled and user can drag and drop small images (from a bunch of images in a TileList) on top of it.

The image loaded from the Bitmapdata can be different every time with different resolution and the Image control scales it down to fit its fixed with/height. But while saving the image after editing I am saving it with its original width/height. For this purpose I am storing the original Bitmapdata in a temp object and applying any edits there before saving.

how to create an image combining the Large image and the small images dropped into it. May be I can use display object snapshot but then I want to save the image with its original with/height and preferably after converting it to Bitmapdata.
