View 5 RepliesSo I have this mc: this.slidingMenu it's a mc of a ring shaped menu, which turn around when 2 button get clicked. When the button on the right, mc goes forward until stop(), when the button on the left mc goes reverse until the stop(). In the first case i use gotoanplay, and everything goes fine. For the second I use prevFrame, like this:

I'm re-designing my website in Flash CS4. There will be 6 buttons when it is finished. I have created 6 movieclips that fades in the text when you click on each button. What I'm trying to do is make the movieclip play backwards when a different button is clicked so the text fades back out before the new text fades in. I think I've nearly got it. I googled the effect and found the below action script. I've put it on the first button to see if it works, but I get the error messages at the bottom.
WelcomeButton.onRelease = function() {
startRewind (29);
};
function rewindMovieClip (targetFrame) {
[code]....
I keep getting these error messages:
Scene=Scene 1, layer=Welcome, frame=142, Line 1 - Statement must appear within on handler
I am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.
This is the code that creates one of the sound objects

I'm working on a game in Flash, and everything's going along great, until I start trying to play sound effects. The minute I start trying to play a sound, the whole app seems to "hiccup", frames get dropped, and things generally get ugly for a little bit. I'm loading sounds by copying them into my Flash CS3 library, exporting them for ActionScript with a Base Class of flash.media.Sound. I'm playing them through a class that looks a little something like this...
Code:
public class SoundPlayer {
private var _mySound:Sound;
public function SoundPlayer() {
_mySound = new ExampleGame.SoundFromLibrary();
} public function playSound() {
_mySound.play();
}}
This all seems pretty straightforward, so I can't figure out why Flash is complaining when it first tries to play the sound. The sound itself is a 40k. mp3 file that lasts about 2 seconds. Not the shortest sound in the world, but I'm sure I've heard larger sounds in games.
i seem to be posting a lot at the moment but i am trying to get my Flash Skills up to date, hope im not annoying anyone too much. Basically i have a small project where pressing a button will trigger a sound, So when i click 'Button1' it plays the sound assigned to 'Button1', I have done this like the following.
[Code]...
Eventually i am going to have 20 different sounds, i know i need to probably assign each sound to its own individual sound channel. i tried manipulating the for statement to say something like var [i]Channel = new SoundChannel; in the hope that it would assign a number next to the SoundChannel thus making it unique,
I hope someone will know a solution to this problem: I have a movieclip with a tween in it, which moves a object up and down.
I have 2 buttons on my _root: One which had to move the object up till the end of the movieclip when pressed so it will stop after reaching the end of the tween. Or it stops playing when the button is released.
Another one doing exact the oposite, it moves the object down when pressed. And should stop at the beginning of the tween. This button also has to stop when the button is released. The button playing the movieclip backwards doesn't work as it should be. It doesn't reverse the movieclip, it just jumps to a previous frame.
I remember reading one time that you can play frames backwards. I have this ball going along this line, and when it reaches the end I want it to go back exactly the same. Isnt there some kinda code to play the frames backwards? Also, the line is curved, so I cant just move it straight across real easy like. I had to do a lot of tweening.
View 7 RepliesI'm having a bit of a problem with getting the timeline to play backwards through frames.I've tried doing something like the following and thought it should've worked but it didn't,with this plz:
function onEnterFrame() {
gotoAndPlay(lastframe);
lastframe = _currentframe--;
[code]....
I managed to make a controller that can play embedded-video-SWF's in "slow-motion" (1/2 speed, 1/4 speed) and in reverse at different speeds. What I'd actually like to do, is something similar, but then with FLV's. I am trying to use the NetStream.pause() as a toggle onEnterFrame, but that doesnt work. Using seek doesn't seem to work either, because it kind of doesn't like non-integers and also for an unknown reason keeps sending the playhead to 4 seconds. if it should be possible to play an FLV at a different speed/reversed, how to do this, and if this should cause performance issues. (Reverse-playing an SWF is much slower for example)
View 4 RepliesI have an empty movie clip which is loaded with main.swf.When i click on a btn ( in menu ), the movie will play backwards till frame 1 and unload then load a new swf.
View 1 RepliesI have this movie clip that is a vertical menu. the menu has a left and right button on either side and several small thumbnails inside. when you click on the right arrow, the animation plays, which just slides the thumbs along using a tween. I'm trying to get the left button to play the reverse of the animation.
this is the swf here to have a look. i hope you get the idea of what I'm trying to do.
I've been looking for a tutorial on how to do this through action script, but haven't found it yet. how can i do this so it's more efficient or through action script 2.0?
I did do the scroll tutorial before, but I would like it to go from one thumb to the next one at a time. You can also see that the animation I'm doing now is causing the left arrow to play each time.
I'm trying to figure out how to play my movie on a mouse over on a button, and then reverse it on mouse out, and I can't make it work.
Code:
function forward(event:MouseEvent):void
{
gotoAndStop(2);
[Code]....
is it possible to play a movie clip (or simply, main timeline) in reverse order e.g. suppose, there is a movie clip, few frames in that, of course it will play from first frame to end frame, and also, i want them to play from end frame to first frame.
View 8 RepliesIts been a while since I last posted but I was hoping someone would be able to help me asap. I am so nearly there but something is not quite right. I have alot of faith in this forum so I'm hoping someone out there can help! Here we go:
I have various movie clips within movie clips, these all work fine. Within one of the MC's, i have a button with instance name "left" and one called "right". These are used to cycle through my work (this is for my portfolio). The right button works fine, just plays the timeline of the MC using frame labels. I built my site last year but its going through a complete overhaul on the structure and coding side cos quite simply, its a mess Last year, i placed this code ON the "left" button itself:
[Code]...
I'm using Flash CS3 and ActionScript 2, and I'm wondering if there's a way of scripting certain parts of a movie to play in reverse when a button is pressed, I need it start reversing at the most recent, previous, frame and stop reversing 30 frames later.
View 3 RepliesFor a project I'm working on, it's necessary that I am able to play a sound object in reverse. How would I be able to do this in AS3?
View 1 RepliesI have a image gallery where you can click a foward button or a backwards one. I have each image on every 15th frame. So when the person clicks the next button it plays from 1-15 where it stops if they click back it will go to 15-1 etc. I got it working with the 2 images so I can go between them but when I add a third it won't do anything. I execpt it's something to do with removing the event listener, but I'm not sure.
Code:
stop();
var bRewind:Boolean = false;
this.back_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onMouseOver);
this.forward_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onMouseOut);
function fireEvent(event:Event):void{
[Code] .....
I have a movieclip that is comprised of multiple images.These images are used as the backdrops of various different pages of my portfolio.Every image is in a specific order, so if the user decides to go from page 1 to page 4, it will pan through the first three pages quickly before stopping on the 4th page. Simple Enough.The problem is I want them to be able to also do this while manipulating the timeline in reverse. So say if they're on page 4 and want to go back to page 2, it will 'rewind' the timeline and stop on page 2.know there are plenty of tutorials out on how to play a timeline in reverse, however none of which discuss stopping automatically when reaching a certain point that is before the beginning
View 8 RepliesIn my flash movie, I've imported a very small video file. When the video is done playing, I wanted the user to be able to click a button and the video would play in reverse. I've gotten this to work with the _currentframe and _nextframe properties, but when I play the movie in reverse it's not as smooth. Here's an example of what happens: [URL] Once the movie is done playing, click on it. When it's playing in reverse, you can see it gets a little choppy when the guy gets towards the top of the rail. Has anyone found a way to play the movies backwards without having the speed affected? Maybe I shouldn't use the _currentframe property??
View 4 RepliesI have 3 movie clips mainclip(_root),one_mc(inside _root),two_mc(inside one_mc). and i want to play the animation in reverse direction so that it has to play two_mc in reverse direction first then one_mc ,and _root all in reverse.
View 2 Repliesi am new to this site and also to AS i am trying to create a an expand and collapse functionality in which i want a movie clip to shrink and disappear when i click on a button and reappear when i click it again the solution that i came up with was i animated the movie clip shrinking and disappearing and now i think playing the timeline in reverse will solve the other half and i also added the stop script at the 1st and last frame of the movie clip.
i tried a lot and a number tried and tested the no of scripting techniques posted on other threads
I would like to make a small player where two sounds* can be compared.
- PLAY and CHANGE buttons
- On pressing PLAY button, two sounds (Sound-A and Sound-B for example) should play simultaneously (at the same time).
- While those two sounds play, Sound-B should be MUTED and Sound-A should be hear.
- On pressing CHANGE button, the situation changes: Sound-A is muted and Sound-B can be hear. And vice-versa.
*two sounds: both songs are the same, but one of them is remastered
The free version over at [URL] displays sound in their online demo, but when I download the Fla. and preview it out of CS4 everything works but there are no sounds playing when I flip. SoundOn - true has been set, and I cant work out why it isn't working. No settings have been changed apart from soundon. I have tried with their older version 2.14 and that works fine.
View 4 RepliesThere are 8 letters in the menu. Each letter provides a linkwhen clicked and a sound when rolled over. The letters will NOTAPPEAR on stage until their corresponding sound is completedloaded. I did this to avoid distortion during playback. The soundbit are pretty small as well. Anyway, the sounds are still distorted during playback and Idon't know why. They are all MP3. HELP PLEASE!! Here's the scriptfor one of the eight letters (movieclips) only to limit size you'llhave to look through:
public function Index() {
var D:MovieClip = new dMC();
D.x = 100;
[code]........
Does anyone have any clue on how to unload an external swf with all its sounds?
View 1 RepliesWorking on a project with multiple sounds (all contained in different MCs) played by different key board events. Most of it works, but when I try to use simultaneous 2 button combinations to call upon a different sound, all 3 sounds play at once. The 3 sounds are as follows: the sound associated with the first button, the sound associated with the second button, and the sound associated with the 2 button combo. I've made several different true/false statements to override different events and states, but they don't affect the playing of the MCs. I've also tried using attachSound but I don't like the results I'm getting from that either.
How can I stop the first 2 sounds from being played, so only the 3rd sound can be heard?
Inspired by Andre michelle, I`m building a tone matrix in AS3.I managed to create the matrix and generate the different sounds. They donīt sound that good, but Iīm getting there One big problem I have is when more than one dot is set to play, it sounds just horrible. I googled a lot and found the additive synthesis method but donīt have a clue how to apply it to as3.anybody out there knows how to play multiple sounds together? any hint?
View 2 RepliesI've got 2 different movieclips, one named playScreen and one named gameOverScreen. I've got a function in playScreen that plays a gunshot everytime I press the left mouse button, but when I do removeChild on playScreen and addChild on gameOverScreen, the gunshot sound still plays when I press the left mouse button.
View 3 RepliesI have an animated flash site with lots of small mp3s placed directly on frames to match the animations.URL...Placing sounds on the frames added to the overall file size but was fine till I tried to create a sound off/on button - it seems that to manipulate ALL sounds they need to be placed into a movieclip.After followind a Kenny Bellows sound tutorial I placed all the little mp3's in an external file externalSoundObjects.swf.[code]I can place the mp3's back on the animation's timeline if anyone knows how I can get a sound on/off button to stop ALL sounds (incl. in child.swf's).Otherwise if anyone knows how to get the external sounds working I think I can then create a sound on/off myself
