I have a thumbnail scroller, it's working when I preview it in flash or in IE when the files are not on my server, however when I upload them to my site, the scrollwheel no longer works.
View 1 Replies...only if its a top tier movie clip. If the movie clip is embedded in a slide show, it doesn't work properly. It works only when I turn the scrollwheel and move the mouse in the same direction at the same time. Kinda strange, isn't it? Is there a fix?
View 3 RepliesFor those liquid layout experts: Do you know why the site comes out cropped when it's uploaded? This was applied to another site and it worked fine. I'm not sure if it has to do with the levels of where the layers are on the stage, but I can't figure this out The scaling seems to work fine when the browser window is scaled up or down. But I just don't understand why it shows up cropped to begin with.
View 2 RepliesI've created a flash website and have split it up into different swfs and have added pre loaders so it loads more cleanly. When I preview the site the links open up the external swfs no problem, but once the site it uploaded the swfs don't load, it appears that the main movie restarts insted of the external swfs (only the contact button works because it's part of the main movie).The 4 buttons at the bottom of the main page go to frames with the follwing or similar action script

This frame also contains the clip (designplay) which the design.swf should load into. It appears the issue is with the paths, I've spent a long time trying to fix this and just can't get it.

I've created a couple of little flash movies (for the first time) showing figures merging into one another. I imported the movies into Dreamweaver and when I tested them in my browser, they worked fine. However, now that I've uploaded all the pages/files for my client to look at, the movies don't work. If I simply addChild the loader to my parent it all works nice and dandy both locally and uploaded, if I convert it to bitmapdata, it works locally but not uploaded.
Note: The commented section is the one that is working locally but not uploaded.

Works like a charm when I preview it but when I upload to the server (tried 3 different ones) it just ignore the actionscripts all together no matter what I use.
What I have is a rotating banner system. I set it up to randomly start at a specific one. If I preview it locally or run in in my .html file locally (just using preview in dreamweaver) it works like a charm and starts at a random one. When I upload it it just starts at the first one like the actionscripts do not exist.
Using Flash CS3 and AS3.
I have a 1 frame main SWF. In the first frame I include codeAS2.as like so:

When I test the movie in Flash CS4, everything works fine, it loads all the data from the XML file menu.xml which is in the same folder. Using the Simulate Download function from Flash, it also runs fine, with not one error, everything loads. Now comes the headscratcher, once I upload it and run it, it does not work. The server is a Linux box and I work on a Mac. Everything I load externally is in the same folder as the SWF, so I have no absolute paths, all relative to the SWF. Can this be some sort of sandbox issue? [URL]
When I import a video to my Adobe Flash CS4 and choose to add a full screen button the full screen button does not work. I choose the "Load external video with playback component" import setting and import my flv. The volume, pause and play all work but not the full screen button. The full screen button works when I open the file in my flash player on my pc.

I have a flash template that I bought and customized with dreamweaver, flash and Coda html editor, the website test PERFECTLY when I test the index.html file, all of the buttons work fine, I have a total of 12 .flv videos and they ALL play back fine, when I play the index.html file, the problem occurs when I upload the files to my godaddy server, 11 of the videos play fine, the whole site is fine, it is one particular .flv file that will not play once it is uploaded to the server. I have changed the orders the video play, renamed the file and changed the html flv path to reflect the name change, I have deleted all the files off my server, refreshed the server logged out and re logged on and uploaded everything again, I have re-encoded the original .mov file to a .flv file again using Adobe media encoder, still nothing, I am wondering why would the index.html play this particular .flv file fine, but once uploaded to the server it will not play, the path is correct I have checked it, if the path were the problem the index.html for that particular file would not play when I test the index.html file before I upload it, but it plays fine until it is uploaded, I am uploading the whole folder on the root, and this particular video file is in a folder with all the rest of the .flv files, I even tried changing the path and putting this particular .flv file in a seperate folder and change the path still nothing.

View 2 RepliesThe scrollwheel functionality is not natively supported in flash on mac os.So, in order to make it works, i used the AS2 class i found on the pixelbreaker blog [URL] and i used it with the swfobject javascript embed system (the last version 2.2).So, actually, on a mac os, the mousewheel event is traced through javascript instead of the movie itself.And it works.
But i fail to understand why it does not work on fullscreen mode (while on pc works in both ways, on mac works only if the movie is in displaystate normal).Did any of you had the same problem that i have and found a better solution, or maybe some advice on why it does not work in fullscreen mode?

This works perfect. But when displaying the flash application in a browser and moving the scroll wheel, zooming in and out works perfect and the browser window scrolls up and down. How do I make it so the browser window stays in place and is not affected by the scroll wheel at least while the mouse is on the flash application?
I've got this project with a simple draggable custom scrollbar, my client wants to also incorporate mousewheel functionality. So I added that and it works fine, but I can't figure out how make the scrollbar move while using the scrollwheel on the mouse. Looking for code to enable zooming in/out on a graphic or movie clip using mouse scrollwheel with origin of scale change being at the mouse cursor position. I have one where it is at top left. I also require it to stay proportional, when applied to a rectangular graphic my code makes it go letterbox on zoom out!

Got a site almost complete however the user authentication isn't working. Simply put, I wish my website to reference a PHP file, which is echoing a users authentication level. Via the Actionscript, Flash pushes the user to the frame on the timeline they have the authority to view.

Because the "checkLog" value is 999, the user should be forwarded to the "denied" label in the timeline however it is not as the site simply loops over and over. I'm sure Flash is accessing the "newlogin.php" file as when I rename it, flash errors stating it cannot locate the file. I have changed it back to the correct name since.
I have built a site for a client using AS2 which contains links to streaming mp3s. The audio loads and runs just fine in Safari but malfuntions/doesn't even play in other browsers.

Back in 1999, I taught myself how to use Flash (it was before Actionscript). I used it to make a funny website called Mirsk-T: [URL]..I also created some basic HTML on the site's front page to determine whether a visitor had Flash version 4 installed. If the person didn't, then the person would see a page with a link to Adobe's download site.
Now, it's 12 years later and I haven't used Flash since I created Mirsk-T in 1999. I also haven't done any HTML coding either. But I'm having problems getting Mirsk-T to work with certain browsers. The site works fine with Safari, Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and OmniWeb. However, when I access the site with Firefox or Chrome or Camino, I see the GIF image I created that appears when a visitor doesn't have Flash installed. And I know I have Flash installed on those browsers.
I therefore have no idea why the site isn't working with those browsers.
A few more details: The Mirsk-T site consists of two different pages. The opening page is at www.mirskt.com (www.mirskt.com/index.html). It consists of a Flash movie that is a song with animated lyrics. Once the song ends, visitors are taken to [URL]..The page with the song is what's not loading in Firefox, Camino and Chrome. If I directly put [URL]..into the browser bar of Firefox, Chrome and Camino, that part of the site works. So, there's something strange going on with the HTML in the page with the song. I'm guessing the HTML I had written back in 1999 for detecting Flash is not working anymore somehow.
So, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea why the front page (the Flash movie with the song) isn't working in some browsers. I don't know if I'm skilled enough to be able to change the HTML even if someone here knows what's wrong. But then maybe someone here could do me a favor and quickly fix the index.html file. I'm guessing it would only take a few minutes for someone who knows what he/she is doing.

I've got several Actions keyframes in the "inline_frame" movie clip--I don't know if that's kosher or not.
I have a very simple button with a GetUrl action. The flash is being embedded via a script, using document.write method. All works as expected when the script is hosted within the webiste. I need to host the script externally though, on a remote website (its a banner script). The problem is that when I embed the movie using the REMOTE javascript file, i.e. [URL], the simple GetUrl does not work at all.
I'm sure this is something related to security or cross site scripting, but I'm equally sure there's a way around this. Affiliate banners use flash to do the very same thing (somehow).
