View 2 RepliesI'm working with AS3 with timeline code. I would like to save date and time a user took a quiz. This information will help check when a user took a quiz. I can see the date and time as I want, but it isn't saved. SharedObject is not saving date and time. Here is my code. How can I do this?
var mySharedObject:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("sampleCode", "/");
var today_date:Date = new Date();var thismonth:uint = today_date.getMonth();var thishour:uint = today_date.getHours();var thisminute:uint =

mySharedObject.data.clientID = my_vars.clientID;
mySharedObject.data.question = my_vars.question;

View 1 RepliesIs it possible to set just one property of a remote SharedObject to clear itself? I understand that calling "clear" on an RSO will cause ALL properties to fire the "clear" event and clear out; however, what I want to do is clear out the data in a specific property so that the "clear" event/message is fired (and not the "change" one since I already have some actions in that).
I suppose I could just set the property to an empty string and put guard code inside my handling of the "change" event/message, but, I'd rather not do that.
I've looked on Adobe's Flash Player guide and in the official docs, but it's not mentioned. I'm creating a game that saves your progress to the local drive using SharedObjects and want to reassure users about what's going on
View 3 RepliesI've created a SharedObject on My Computer, saved it in a movie, and ran the movie again and data came up well enough.My problem is, I want to delete the SharedObject saved on my hard-drive. I currenly have Flash 8, and Flash MX 2004 uses the .sol extention, but I can't find the SharedObject anywhere on my computer. With the release of Flash 8, did they change the SharedObject file extention? Is there a way to set up the path to which SharedObjects should be saved in your script file? The second parameter of the getLocal() method, stores a URL. Is that the same as a directory on your computer?
View 3 RepliesI cannot find and information on how to make a dynamic sharedObject data property.
Simplified Code for what I need/want to do
var iData:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal(userInfo);
var dataArray:Array = ["a","b","c"];
var property:String = "prop"
iData.data.this[property] = dataArray;
That is what i was thinking.
It doesn't matter how the property is created, just that it needs to be done on the fly.
I'm attempting to view Shared Object data in my FMS Administration Console, but I consistently get the error:Object encoding error; terminating connection.I'm using Flex 3 with FMS 3.5, I'm positive that everything is using AMF3. The Shared Objects do seem to work. I can connect to the shared object through another instance of the app and pull saved data but they are not inspectable in the administration console. Also,very often when a new instance connects to the server I get a RangeError and all of my Flash Player instances crash.

I've installed developer version of Flash Media Server 4.5 and trying to get remote object, but no matter how I call my object all i get is this error .I've rad configuration guide and it told me that I should set StorageDir for shared objects, enable RPC (<RPC enabled="true">) and allow shared object (<Allow>users</Allow> in <RPC> - <SharedObject> tags)

Is possible to shutdown a exe file application when my Flash movie starts. For example, I have several Exe files, one open after another, but I want to close the first exe file. is there some kind of sfcommand quit project.exe ?

View 4 RepliesFor ages we have used the Flash Object in a .NET app for managing the development of eLearning. The embedding is done (I presume) in much the same way that IE embeds flash object (e.g. using a COM object which maps back to Flash10c.ocx)We are testing our application on Windows 7 RC 64-bit edition but the .NET application is unable to instantiate the Flash control, raising a "Class not Registered" error. Although the OS is 64-bit, the .NET app and Flash object are 32-bit and should work together without problems. I have confirmed that the IE browser (32-bit version) on the Windows 7 (x64) does indeed instantiate Flash files OK.
View 2 RepliesI am building a really simple Chat server/client using PHP and Flex. I have followed many tutorials and have a working server in PHP and a working client in Flex, except that if I use the client on Windows I can't send any messages.When I send a message on my Mac it goes through to the server and gets sent to all the clients, including any Windows client I may have connected. The message will actually display on Windows clients as well, it's only when I try sending from Windows that it doesn't work.
I've tried adding a crossdomain.xml file served by a PHP script listening on the correct port, but none of the clients ever seem to ask for it, and if the client works on Mac I assumed it should work on Windows. By the way I'm exporting the project as an AIR file (dunno if that makes a difference).I can't find anything regarding this so I'm wondering if I'm being stupid somewhere or whether I need to takes some special measures for Windows clients?I have pasted my client code below.
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;[code]......
Is it possible to save to or to retrieve data from the Windows registry?
With fscommand?
A client connected to the FMS for playing live video.The problem has been found that when FMS shutdown the network, the client's NetConnection didn't dispatch any event.But when the client shutdown the network the client's NetConnection will dispatch NetConnection. Connect.Closed event.How could flash client know the FMS' server side networking problem? Does it necessary to use heartbeat mechanism between FMS and client?
View 1 RepliesI've written a basic FTP client to allow me to upload files through the browser without using the FileReference.upload() func (because it's damn slow). I've got all the socket logic worked out and it works for one upload. When the upload is completed, the FTP data socket is closed by the socket.close() func which triggers a response from the command socket and starts the whole process over again. This logic works perfectly on my Mac in both Safari and FF.
I can upload files and cancel uploads and it all works as I want. When I test it on Windows (IE 8, FF 3.5, Safari 4 on WinXP and Win7) it is busted. I've tracked down the problem to the fact that on Windows, the socket.close() function is not causing the server to close the connection. I don't know if this is because it's not sending a proper command or what... but that's where it's at.
The player buys engines these are added to an array called _model.purchasedEngines. During save i'm trying:

I am new with Flash, and still trying to learn. There is one thing I can't find information about. How do I embed a Windows Media stream on a flash web site? If possible at all.
View 1 RepliesI'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. These are the following conditions to replicate it: Issue only happens in Windows (Windows 7, not on Mac) Issue only happens with Reader X installed (not with previous versions) Issue only happens when running the built app, does not happen in debug / development mode from FlashBuilder

I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:
[Code]...
All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below.My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?
var fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference();
private function onClick():void {
fileReference = new FileReference();
fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onSelect);

From an Adobe Air application, I need a function to launch the Windows Virtual Keyboard (c:windowssystem32osk.exe). I tried the Native Process, but it didn't work when telling it to execute cmd.exe /C osk.exe. How should I launch the keyboard application from an Adobe Air application?

View 1 RepliesI have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
