View 9 RepliesI built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play.The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. The link to the player is[url]....Even if its a link to a tutorial or something.
View 3 RepliesHow can I tell after issuing a NetStream::play call when there is any video arrived which I can render (Video::attachNetStream)? I can see that most of that stuff is asynchronous and highly dependent on a number of variables like FMS latency, client latency and bandwidth, server load, weather etc. I however need a reliable dependent way of figuring when there is any picture to show. I administrate our service and need to monitor content people are publishing, for that I need to browse a hundre or so streams as fast as possible. What I do is I have a number of "player" streams that play a stream name (I use Administration API to get an array of these) , wait until there is picture, show it in a video object, disconnect video from stream, create new video object, play another stream, wait until picture, show it, and so on.
I found out that I can achieve a way to check whether video has arrived by NetStream::info.videoBufferByteLength, alternatively perhaps 'videoByteCount'. I cannot create a new stream for new video object, that is too much overhead, so I reuse streams. I close a stream, play new stream name, and wait until the either of the properties above is non zero. This has been working quite alright, but still occasionally I get stale data in the subsequent video objects, even when a stream is supposed to be playing new content. I need to avoid these.
So my question boils down to the already mentioned: what would be a reliable way to do what I am doing? It's just a stream of compressed data, there must be a way for Flash Player to know what is new data and what is stale data. In fact I don't think there is supposed to be stale data in a NetStream that is already playing something else! I know this is hardcore stuff, but we are pushing it :-)
I want to show the loading indicator that appears while playing an flv video online.. like the indicator of the downloaded part of movie that appears on

I have a FLV player that stops playing right before the end of the video.
View 1 RepliesI mean youtube or any other streaming video site, but I've seen it on Youtube. There are times that the loaded bar shows that more than enough video stream has been loaded so the player could play it but it suddenly pauses and shows the loading icon?
View 2 RepliesI have a video player program, there is a list page and a player page, once you click on an item in the list it takes you to the player page and it loads the correct video from a streaming server for you, easy peasy When each item is picked it finds the corresponding item in an XML file and loads my video player source with the XML data url
function beginLoad():void { this.addChild(videoPlayer) videoPlayer.source = myXML.video[videoIndex].@url; }
(it has nothing to do with this function not happening on mouse event, this is only the part that happens when it loads)My issue is that if you are fast enough and click to return to the list page before the video has started playing, the video will play in the background, even though the code actually removes the video player child from the stage the code on the button to return to the list page is
function navToList(e:Event):void { videoPlayer.stop(); videoPlayer.parent.removeChild(videoPlayer); }
there is more code in the button but none of it relates to the videoPlayer item why on earth it continues to play is beyond me, surely if there is no videoPlayer componen on the stage (and this is the only one) then the video has no ability to play whatsoever is there a specific command to tell the videoPlayer item to stop everything and just return to a blank state, do I set its 'source' to nothing?
A few months ago I viewed an SWF file (original.swf). Ever since, if I double click to launch a different SWF, it always and only plays original.swf. I've tried restarting, reinstalling... but with no luck. Why did it "stick" on this video
View 2 RepliesI published a viedo.swf with a skin. I tested the video.swf both - both the html doc and the swf file and the skin is in each.I uploaded to my web server the following:1. video.swf,2. skin.swf3 video.html. and4. the AC_RunActiveContent.jsAll are in the same folder.When I goto the url the the video.html is located I do not see the skin ... on line.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.
I'm using for my video player, it loads and plays fine and it stop playing music on the main template when loaded. I have actually two requests: First: How do I pause the video when the player is loaded ?
Second: When the player is unloaded from the main template using root.main_mc.close_btn the video still playing in the background and the close button (close_btn) pause and play the music player each time it is pressed and from the same position it was left last time.
I have a video that is meant to start playing when a user clicks on an image and said image opens a FancyZoom overlay. It works fine in every browser except IEs. If I place the video in a div that is not hidden (display:none actually), the video starts as expected. So it seems there is a problem with either Flash, JW Player, SWFObject or any combination of these when trying to load a video in a hidden div.[URL]..
View 3 RepliesIs there any possible way to play a .jpeg sequence using .flv player on-the-fly ? I mean, by not needing to convert the entire sequence into one single .flv ? Since I'm not familiar with flash neither action script, I was surfing the web in hope to find any template or tips about similar things to that but I couldn't...
Here's the main list of features:
1- Browse button to load a sequence eg. < filename >####.jpeg
2- Play button with a slider time
3- Previous and next frame-by-frame buttons
4- FPS slider from 0 to 30
My main reference is this stand app called Cyber-D's Image Sequence Viewer.
I am using YouTube JS API to play videos on my site. Video is played on the dialog box. When user closes the dialog box, player is stopped - player.stopVideo(); But when user clicks again on video icon again, dialog box appears
In Chrome, the video starts playing at the previous position - OK Firefox, the video starts playing from the start irrespective of where user left it last time. - NOT OK
As per my requirements, I want the Chrome to behave as how firefox is behaving.
Here's a fiddle: [URL]
I'm using the default CS4 FLVPlayback skin, mainly the SkinOverPlayMute.swf. I know there's a skinAutoHide option, but because I don't want it to auto play, I want people to see a play button when they first encounter the video (so they don't think it's just an image). But the skin needs to hide when the video is actually playing (so the video doesn't get blocked by the controls).
In other works - when video isn't playing: skin showing; when video is playing: skin hide.
In my CS4 flash document I have created a media gallery. It's a very simple interface that has mouse overs on thumbnail pictures, and then the larger picture will fadeUP in the center of the document. (With use of framelabels in the timeline).
In the same document, I want the user to be able to click on a video thumbnail, and that video plays back in the center of the document. Several questions: If the user clicks on the thumbnail "onrelease," the time line goes to the player, is it possible to stream this video from a youtube clip into my media player on the screen? If not and I have the document in a fl4 format, is there a simple process to have this video open? (I currently do not have the document in fl4 format).
I have flash CS4 and some time ago made a simple movieclip in an older version of flash.I now want to make a simple gallery with thumbnails that show a larger image once you hover over the thumbnail.[URL]I forgot most of the workings in flash, so it's difficult to make what I want.
View 2 RepliesCan I choose a thumbnail? My SWF player I have told not to autoplay, but I want it to display an appropriate thumbnail. how do I set the thumb nail?
View 4 RepliesI am loading an external SWF file into my main timeline. The external SWF file contains an FLV video. At a certain point in my main timeline, the SWF file loads and plays the video. Is there a way to say...
If the VIDEO (FLV) is done playing, gotoAndPlay(X)?
how I embed a html5 video player only if there's flash in the browser? If there is flash in the browser I want to use it instead.
View 2 RepliesUsing Flash cs5I have a simple swfnothing on the stage except a video (flv) playback component.I dont want it to autostart which i see the paremeter for and have set that to uncheckedBut I would like pick a place in the video to be the thumbnail image for the video that people see instead of just a black box. I dont see how to do that.Is there any way to have them see a thumbnail image in the video player instead of a black box when i dont want the video to autoplay?
View 2 RepliesI'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.
Here are some links:

The .FLV
The .SWF
I'm trying to do a simple video gallery but it's not working. When I preview the .swf and click on a thumbnail, the video doesn't play I just get this loading bar. No code errors come up and my flash file (.fla), .swf, and videos (.flv) are all in the same folder.
Here's my code:
stop();
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,vid1);
btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,vid2);
btn3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,vid3);
btn4.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,vid4);

I am creating a gallery of video thumbnail.Also I am planning to set the frame of video on each thumbnail to first frame of video .When i load a single video,its working. But when i tried to load more than one video on different thumbnail movie clip in a for loop, its not working. This is my live project.can anybody help me.its very urgent. I tried with many possibilities that i know. I am a 3 month experienced flash programmer.
var thumb_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
thumb_nc.connect(null);
for(i=0;i<videoArrLen;i++){
[code]...
The urlArry contains the url of video to be loaded and thumbArry contains the NetStream object for different movieclips.
I'm trying to create a video gallery that has thumbnails. But I want the thumbs to be the first frame of the video. Is there any way to extract the first (or any other) frame and display it as bitmap data without having to download the entire .flv file?
View 4 RepliesI am building a flash video player with a custom UI, and admittedly I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing. I tried altering a skin, but that always comes out wonky due to whatever coding they use. So I'm altering single video components and putting them in the mc what I want them. It looks great, but the problem is that when video goes to full screen, all of the controls dissappear and I can't figure out how to make them show up. How do I get a movie clip to display on top of the video when it goes to full screen in flash AS3?
View 1 RepliesI have a sporadic bug where sometimes when a video is played the video doesn't show up for about 10 seconds but the audio is there.
i'm using flash as3:
_video = new Video();
_sound = new SoundTransform();
var connection:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
[Code]....
I suppose the title says it all. I can load an external video file (FLV) and I can have it play. I also have the custom buttons made to control the clip. The only thing I have left to do is to have the main timeline move onto frame 2 once the external video reaches its end. I am using actionscript 3 and flash cs 5.5.
View 7 RepliesI've been using the "Reusable Preloader Using MovieClipLoader" from the tutorial section of this site.The only difference is that i don't use'm for preloading jpg. I load external swf files containing video. Everything works fine so far. The only problem is that the preloaded video already starts playing while preloading (at about 30%), but without showing the video.This is the code i have so far:
Code:
bar._visible = false;
border._visible = false;
this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", "100");[code].....
I have a video gallery (operable) and AS is within the flash file. i currently have my thumbnails (in xml file) in one column off the the left side however they just run right off the screen.With the code provided below, would someone assist me in having images automatically spread over a number of columns.[code]
