I mean youtube or any other streaming video site, but I've seen it on Youtube. There are times that the loaded bar shows that more than enough video stream has been loaded so the player could play it but it suddenly pauses and shows the loading icon?
View 2 RepliesHow can I tell after issuing a NetStream::play call when there is any video arrived which I can render (Video::attachNetStream)? I can see that most of that stuff is asynchronous and highly dependent on a number of variables like FMS latency, client latency and bandwidth, server load, weather etc. I however need a reliable dependent way of figuring when there is any picture to show. I administrate our service and need to monitor content people are publishing, for that I need to browse a hundre or so streams as fast as possible. What I do is I have a number of "player" streams that play a stream name (I use Administration API to get an array of these) , wait until there is picture, show it in a video object, disconnect video from stream, create new video object, play another stream, wait until picture, show it, and so on.
I found out that I can achieve a way to check whether video has arrived by NetStream::info.videoBufferByteLength, alternatively perhaps 'videoByteCount'. I cannot create a new stream for new video object, that is too much overhead, so I reuse streams. I close a stream, play new stream name, and wait until the either of the properties above is non zero. This has been working quite alright, but still occasionally I get stale data in the subsequent video objects, even when a stream is supposed to be playing new content. I need to avoid these.
So my question boils down to the already mentioned: what would be a reliable way to do what I am doing? It's just a stream of compressed data, there must be a way for Flash Player to know what is new data and what is stale data. In fact I don't think there is supposed to be stale data in a NetStream that is already playing something else! I know this is hardcore stuff, but we are pushing it :-)
I have a video player which using netStream, works well but i want to show video thumbnail when video player is not playing and stop from playing?
View 9 RepliesI just built a website entirely in Flash Catalyst CS5. After adding a few more states the file size got bigger and the loading time increased. On average, it takes about 10 seconds for the site to load on my connection. Till then all you get is a white page and the spark preloader shows up when you scroll down. All I want is a simple preloader with a percentage indicator, loading bar, and maybe my company logo.
View 0 RepliesI inserted a video into my movie clip. It freezes sometimes if internet connection is not fast enough but freezes at any frame. I want a loading icon displayed once it stops and disappear when it continues.
View 3 RepliesI have a introduction page with a video background, and a button that sends the user to another page.I just have one problem, and that's when you see the page online, for a slit of a second, you just see the button on a black background before the video is loaded and starts playing. Not really sure how to go about it.I recon the button should first be visible when the video appears or are loaded..? I have the following AS. "Mybtn" is my button.
var videos:Array=new Array("videos/video.flv");
stop();
stage.scaleMode=StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
stage.align=StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;

I'm using the default CS4 FLVPlayback skin, mainly the SkinOverPlayMute.swf. I know there's a skinAutoHide option, but because I don't want it to auto play, I want people to see a play button when they first encounter the video (so they don't think it's just an image). But the skin needs to hide when the video is actually playing (so the video doesn't get blocked by the controls).
In other works - when video isn't playing: skin showing; when video is playing: skin hide.
I have recently "inherited" several websites that feature 1 to 10 minute video animations in SWF formatOne of my challenges is to get these files to appear or play in a timely manner so that the viewer does not loss interest as it is loading. My questions will start with file size.reduce or minimize the size of published SWF files while still maintaining high quality video output? Second, how about this business of preloading.I don't really understand that term but my thinking is that if a large movie could be loading while another, shorter, movie is playing, or a graphic displaying, that this could be useful in my case. Lastly, how about streaming in general. Are there ways to optimally use a given download speed to efficiently stream SWF video?

i've even tried relative vs. absolute links and nothing. i've tried firefox and safari. nothing.
i'm guessing this is some dumb simple thing, and hopefully it took you longer to read this than it will to type the answer.
i am embarrassed that i am not getting this but hey, it needs to be fixed and i'm sick of looking at it and trying to figure it out.
I have made a 3d carousel based on the tutorial at gotoandlearn.com and it looks awesome...however when I try to put the swf in html it does not show up.

I'm building a video player, and I'd like the play to show a "Loading, please wait"-type animation whenever the video is buffering and not playing. (This is either when the user enters the page and the video has to buffer a bit before it can start playing, or when the video suddenly stops midway because the internet connection can't load video fast enough.) Is there a way to detect when this happens and show the animation accordingly?

View 1 RepliesOn my website, I want my user to be able to launch video 2 at any point in the middle of video 1 without waiting or refreshing the window. How can I buffer the two videos such that I buffer video 1 enough to let it start playing, and then buffer just enough of video 2 that if the user launches it at any point, he does not have to wait to view its first few seconds, and then I can come back and buffer the rest of video 1? If this is not possible, I could also look at buffering video 1 and 2 in parallel while playing only video 1.
View 1 RepliesI'm building a flash website which uses a google map for a contact section and another one generated via external class for a projects section (for each one of the projects available there will be generated a map and a marker).This website uses SWFAddress and each of the projects receive SWFAddress dynamicaly via xml, pulling in the name of the project.The problem is when I test the website localy, on Flash IDE both the maps are loaded fine, but once I try it online on a webserver just the map on contact section is being loaded.I've tried to use a different key for each other -the contact section map key based on an url.Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is it because I'm using 2 maps on the same website? Is it because the url generated by SWFAddress is too long (I tried to generate a key based on something like URL...

Maybe the title is not self explanatory but in most iphone games eg you click the correct example and you see a +100 points mc appear and rise and alpha out. I did this with a png done in photoshop BUT not all goes well - it doesn't work.

It seens perfct but I can't see it work. The funny thing is that the custom currentBubble - with a dot after you see the code hints but a dot after pb100 - you see no code hints. Well not normal.

View 5 RepliesI have a cube built in papervision. It has a video on each side. I want the videos to be stopped at the beginning when it appears. I thought I could just use pause on the stream. ncStream2.pause(); no luck. When I do that I just get a black box. There is no black at the beginning of the videos. I do not think the papervision part is really a big deal. It's probably just a straight forward AS3 and video problem.

I just met a piece of error log when I was trying to resume the paused mp4 streaming. Here is the log from the server:

I'm using Red5 newest 0.9.1 final for mac os x to stream the H.264/AAC encoded MP4 file to my flash app.
And there's no problem when I'm resuming the .flv file.
I'd like to create a flashing LOADING symbol that appears before a swf file is loaded, but there seems to be a problem with my code.The error 1180:call to undefined method fader is given for the highlighted, but this was code i followed from a tutorial.Once the LOADING symbol has hovered on screen for a few seconds, id like it to fade out and display the swf on the index page, of which this code is within.
