After read a lot about ball physics, watch some examples and few days of trying making pinball with bitmaps, I use simple (easy to work with) and fast performance Physics AS3 engine for bitmaps [URL] but still cant fix problem: if ball is moving too fast and object on path is too small, there will be no collision detection (code works perfect only with bigger objects or if ball is moving slower). I am not good at physics and maths. Here is function code which make physics for ball on every frame rate (but maybe its better to change it to setTimeout):
function showFrame(e:Event) // onEnterFrame{ var collisions:Array = collisionlist.checkCollisions(); if(collisions.length) // if collision{ var collision:Object = collisions[0]; // get collision information var angle:Number = collision.angle; // get collision angle [Code] .....
I'm creating a ball bouncing in 3d. My problem is that I have a square boundaries. top,bottom, front, back. I tried get the the distance ( of the sphere/radius) but went I * vx , vy , vz by 1 or -1. One of the position is - while the other two might by positive. I need pool ball physics with the boundary be a 3d sphere.
Basically there will be a club and a ball. You can control the power and angle to hit the ball. How do I go about implementing this? Is flash the easiest way to go? I want to implement this as a facebook game. Any game libraries specific to this I can use to quickly implement a basic version? I am comfortable with Java and PHP.
Is there anyone that can write a really basic physics engine including 1 ball and 1 solid object?
So it should be 1 ball and then 1 solid object like a box. The box should be completely solid, the ball shouldn't be able to go through the box, it should just stop when hitting it at any angle.
I am familiar with hit test, but how do you make a ball bounce off a wall with the same angle that it bounced on it with?ex. it hits the wall at 45 degrees, and it bounces off the wall at 45 degrees
The game is like any other pong game with one differance. Rather then the paddle only moving left and right, it would move in a circle around the play field and you would not be able to rely on the walls to keep your ball in play. My problem is that I cant get the ball to bounce off of the paddle at the correct angle. Below is a link of the swf and fla that I have now.[code]
I am looking for a way to find a vector if I know one point and 1 angle. Like I have A(x, y) and a vector starting from A(x, y) with an angle. I would like to know the position on a point X (x, y) that can be anywhere on that vector. I only know the coordinates of A and the angle. Possible?? I guess it has to be a function...
I wanted to study some physics code lines related to flash actionscript 2.0.Is there anyway to build a model with physics incorporated without a physics engine? By bare actionscript?If yes, can anyone show me a tutorial or an explanation to learn somehting about it, please?
I know you can add a var to add grvity and velocity ect. But what are the limits of this?Can i have a ball roll downhill using physics from within flash, without a external physics engine like box 2D.Can i have impulses? Well thats not important just wondering really.What can you do with physics in flash?
I have a slider which I want to use to rotate an image around it's center. This normally is easy but my problem is the clip is made dynamically and the size changes so I can't use the default registration point and I need to assign the center point before I rotate it. I found the rotateAroundExternalPoint function which rotates around a center point fine. How to get it to rotate to a certain angle and then have it stop at that angle. The rotateAroundExternalPoint increments the rotation rather then allowing me to set the angle to rotate to. Is there anyway that I can set what angle to rotate my clip to? It right now increments the rotation by the x coordinate of my slider bar (slider_position.x).
Code: import flash.geom.Matrix; import fl.motion.*; var mat:Matrix = clip.transform.matrix; addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,EnterFrame3); function EnterFrame3(event:Event) { var center_point_x = clip.height / 2 var center_point_y = clip.width / 2 // MatrixTransformer.rotateAroundExternalPoint(mat,center_point_x,center_point_y,slider_position.x); clip.transform.matrix = mat; }
i am following a tutorial from a book, Learning Actionscript 3.0, A Beginners Guide, where it discusses how to move an object in an agle. I have managed to get the app working fine, but i'm tryin to test it out in different angles but everytime i change it seems to go into the same angle.[code]Can somebody tell me why for everytime i changed the value of the degrees, it does not updat the movement of the ball please
i'm trying to work out how to get a movieclip (of an arrow) to rotate then move in the direction it is pointing, controlled using the keyboard. Below is the code i have written so far, I can't get it to move in the correct direction. I also can't get it to keep moving after only one key press.
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyPressDown);var stageW:uint=stage.stageWidth;var stageH:uint=stage.stageHeight; var speed:Number = 5; var angle:Number =45;
I am trying to make a little game its just a project to help me get my head around the maths,I receive an angle and I want to use that angle to move the character away from the object are there any good tutorials for understanding this principle, or even what the term is for this?
I'm using the actionscript below to Move Object Using The Arrow Keys and it works fine but I want to modify it so that when I press the up key it goes to and play a movie clip. Basically it's a ball movie clip that responds to the arrow key but on the up key it plays a bouncing movieclip and everything remains aligned.
Here is the script- var speed =5; this.onEnterFrame =function(){ if(Key.isDown(Key.UP)) { circle._y -= speed; } if(Key.isDown(Key.DOWN)) { circle._y += speed; } if(Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) { circle._x -= speed; } if(Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) { circle._x += speed; }};
How can I move a ball to the left once the left arrow is pressed, so the ball moves to the left side and should automatically return to the right once it reaches the end of the stage... And the same thing should be applied to the right arrow.
I cant figure out how to make the ball move and bounce around the stage. and i also need help on the paddle that the ball bounces off of. if u could help me out that would be awesome.
I have tried for a while to do a flash banner but i am stuck.I have cs4 flash installed.I want to have a banner like this one on top:http:[url]....My question is how to design this banner?I have tried to do a big banner in startup panel, i have read cs4 flash for dummies but i get stuck when the ball shall move in the fla-file.
I am wondering how to remove a specific element from a vector.[code]...
So from the code example above I was using Element.pop() but thats wrong -I think -as it removes the LAST element. I need to remove the element at the location of the match.
I've attached a file which makes a ball move to the left when pressing the right arrow key.[code]On a Key.RIGHT it goes through a for loop. Shifting the ball 200 times 1 pixel to the left. Every iteration it tests for a hit with coordinates 100/50 (indicated by the red crosshairs). If there's no hit it moves 1 pixel to the left. If there is a hit it stops moving (no ball._x--).Funny thing is: while it eventually finds a hit, it does a final For Loop. Even though it should find a hit during that last loop when the ball is passing the crosshairs, it doesn't and moves the ball a final time 200 times 1 pixel to the left. Ending up with below image.URL...Why doesn't it find a 'hit' for that final For Loop while it's clearly passing it?
