I am trying to provide a reflection for the images(movieclips) that I loaded on the stage. For this purpose I am using a reflection class. The class can be used with action script 2. the reflection is working finely. Also after loading the image or movieclip, I tried to give tweening for that image or movieclips. Thus also it works finely. The reflection of that also moves along with the actual image. The problem comes with the resizing the actual image. If I resize the actual image, the reflection would not be seen under the actual image.Can anybody know why it may happening like that. After searching for a long time, I got this class.But unfortunately, the reflection would not be working when the image or moviclip resizes.
View 8 Repliesscaling image for an image gallery project I am creating. I am adding each image inside a SQUARE Movieclip of their own so I can position them nicely on stage. As not all images are exactly square, there are always vacant gaps. What I want to achieve is to scale the image proportionally so that the smallest dimension of the image ( width or height ) will equal the same dimension of the square Movieclip, though anything that overflows the MovieClip is not visible.

I`m designing a site with an interactive header created in Flash. how to display an alternative image (a .png) in it`s place if a user doesn`t have the Flash Player? Of course, this is especially important for visitors using iPhones! The site logo is part of the Flash movie, which makes it all the more important that something is displayed in the movie`s place. I`ve heard their are ways of doing it with Javascript, but is this really necessary?
View 2 RepliesI am building a website with an image gallery using XML to load thumbnails and images.
Firstly, I was going to try to make the thumbnails act like buttons, so the mouse cursor would change to a little pointing finger like it does in buttonmode but i could not get this to work.
Secondly, I also wanted the alpha properties of the other buttons to reduce to about 0.75 to highlight the selected thumnail that would stay at its full alpha value of 1. Yet again i could not get this to work either.Can you build this type of functionality into the imported xml data or am I just kidding myself here?
I have followed Kirupa's XML Image Gallery tutorial. Before you ask, I have double checked my code. When I hit command+enter (mac) to preview it, everything works just fine. XML loads the correct images. My problem is when I publish it and upload it via FTP to my web server, ONLY the first image displays. When I click the next button, the first image fades out, but then it fades back in. The captions and image numbers change (like they're supposed to), but the image does not.
It remains on the first image. I know that it is able to access the XML because it loads the first image specified in the XML. That image was never imported into the Flash document. I have double checked my paths, too. All of the paths are correct. Also, I'm sure that it's not accessing a local file, because for each path, I specify the full URL, such as "[URL]", rather than just "/images/image.jpg". What do I need to do to fix this? You can see what I'm talking about by going to [URL] and clicking on "photo+art".
I am trying to preload images for an image gallery ina flash movie.
i have the images externally loaded so as not to bloat the swf but how do i start a preload for all the images when someone gets to the home/front page, so that by the time they get to the image gallery everything is loaded in memory so there's no delay?
I'm working on an xml driven flash website where clients can modify an xml file directly to change the appearance of the site (eventually i'll make a flash/php dashboard GUI). The site will have listings each with a photo.I'm trying to find a way around having the clients have to crop images to thumbnail and enlarged view size themselves. In other words the images would be displayed scaled to fit within a movie clip.
View 1 RepliesI have a gallery of 30 plus images. The user will then use a scroll bar to flip through them. The images actually make up a sequence so I dont want to preload each one one at a time. I am also pulling in the images dynamically. Below is a bit of the code I am using. What I would like to have is all of the images preload on one frame and then once that is done go to frame two where I have the rest of the code for gallery manipulation.

I am creating an image gallery where the user can select from several thumbnail images. Once selected, the thumbnails will enlarge and load the full sized image. My problem is that while the user is waiting for the full sized image to load, he may decide to close that image and view another image. I am trying to find a way to stop a loader from loading.ere is the code I have used. My problem is that even though the user has clicked on the unloadBtn, the loader continues to load the file. Is there a way to disable that?

i m using flash on a module of Joomla to display images, i embed flash player code into javascript , it fetch images from an XML files wher images are predefined and it works fine, now i have a problem that i m collecting images from database, means images are dynamically, so i m unable to fetch that images an display on flash, i just want to knoe how to add dynamic image array into flash. do i need to create xml??

i wrote a bit of actionscript to dynamically create an image gallery based on how many images are in a given directory. as of now, i've got it to display thumbnails in rows. my next step would be to get these thumbnails to link to the fullsize images, but i cant figure out how to do that. my code is as follows:

I have spent some time looking at the Kirupa XML gallery with the thumb navigaition sliderOne problem emerge when i use different sized images (same height, different widths).If one thumbnail is half the width of the others, that thumbnail will be placed directly on top of one of the others. Furthermore if the "large" image also is half the width of the others (which it also is here) it'll get placed starting from the left and have a gray background where there is no image (which makes sense since the background is grey in the .fla).My question is: how i can get the gallery to display all thumbnails with the same spacing between them no matter what width they have (in my case they will all have same height). And if a thumbnail is not as large as the "default size"(for example 67 in height and 100 in width) is it possible to center that image in the "large image" display?

1. the placeholder movie clip automatically tweens to adjust to the image's dimensions.
2. the transition between each image is a la: www.barbariangroup.com -- front page when you enter
3. the images stay on the screen for approx. 5 seconds each.
making my image gallery, but it only works as each image in the array is clicked. i need to develop an image gallery that displays images based on certain values chosen by the user. Imagine two sliders such as "gadgets" and "cars". The sliders provide values from 1 to 10. The flash movie then generates a gallery based on those provided weights. The user may want more gadgets than cars or all cars or more cars than gadgets etc. Im a tad lost as to where i should start here...XML? MYSQL? should i start swatting up on AS3?
View 13 Repliesi couldn't find a tutorial on this matter so i sorta started making my own hypothesis... what i'm trying to do is: have a gallery of images automatically scrolling horizontally while having the set of images loop. like at[URL]..
here are a couple of my theories and questions for AS commands to have this work:
1) display a range of pixels of an image at certain positions, i.e. if gallery is scrolling to the left, leftmost image when its parts are disappearing out of the viewing area, they become visible at the right.
2) have two instances of each image and when an image is disappearing on left, the second instance of that image comes visible on the right. this I imagine would take up more HD space.
i guess what i was wondering more about is how jager did their gallery where there's only enough images are in a set to be viewed in the viewing area.

View 14 RepliesI've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.

I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after
I have this piece of code to change images. I was trying to figure out how you could put a timer on the code, so if the image has been displayed for say 5 seconds it diverts to the next image automatically? Also if it's not to hard, when it has played to the end to divert to the 1st image.

Just wondering if anyone knows about the project I am trying to start, uploading images from flash using php is fine but wondering if anyone knows how to create dynamic xml from php and it takes all the image names from the same folder where those images have been uploaded. So we can load all the images in image gallery through xml into flash.
View 5 RepliesI have found an excellent tutorial and source file for a 3D image gallery. However I would like to make the thumbnail click thorugh to a url link when pressed rather than loading the image into the gallery.
Currently the images load in through actionscript. Is there a way to amend this script so you can specify that a thumbnail clicked links through to a url, like you would with a normal button instance rather than loading the image.
