ActionScript 3.0 :: Access The Sounds In The Library?
Dec 11, 2009
I was working on a file where I imported a few sounds to the library but now lost the actual sound files, but I have the sound in my library (in the fla). How can I use them through AS3? Currently I do something like: Quote:
var music:Sound=new Sound(newURLRequest("outbreak.mp3"));
var sc:SoundChannel = music.play();
how do i dynamically add sounds from the library? i have tryed
Code: _root.attachMovie("sown", "sown",999) //and var my_sound:Sound = new Sound(); my_sound.loadSound("sown", false); //externaly the file is also named "sown" (no extension)
It seems like we have hit a limit in how many assets (movieclips/sounds etc) that we can have in our library. We can export at the moment, but if we put in another cutscene or sound flash wont export. It shows the progress bar but when its done the .swf dosent show up and cannot be found in the project folder. Some file info: Swf - 9mb Fla - 128mb
I really do not know how to begin but I have 5 sounds that have been saved in the library with the following linkage names[code]...
How do I place these in an array and have them play in order from explode_sound to explode_sound4 (once one stops playing go immediately to begin playing the next one)? I'd like to add a 2-second delay before the next audio clip plays though.
i know flash has problems with preloading files that use linkage... i know it has something to do with 'export in first frame'. because when you have that checked you can preload it because its on the same frame as the preloader... but if i dont have it checked it isnt exported and when i click a button i cant hear anything... how to work around this? how must i preload / link my embedded sound files?
How do I access Timeline sounds from Actionscript? The sounds have to be in the timeline for my current animation, as the animation is timed to the sound. But other parts of the animation need to react to the sound's amplitude via actionscript 3.
I followed the mp3player tutorial (part 3) from [URL] and got it working fine. Only problem is that the setVolume I'm trying to use with my music is affecting all my other sounds - button sounds and background sound. I'm aware of the createEmptyMovieClip/attachSound approach and got it working on my other sounds. But Lee's tutorial-mp3player is using a slight different technique, and so my normal approach doesn't quite work.
I want to synchronize sounds perfectly to do a kind of Audio Mixer, using different sounds. [URL] does it perfectly, I've been researching and researching and I just don't know how to do it! How does [URL] synchonize audio so perfectly? you can even change sounds and the new ones will come on time! How do I do that? Is it just Action Script? or something else?
Got two classes "Engine.as" and "Player.as". Engine.as is the document class that is calling Player.as.
The point is to have Player.as create a movieclip on the stage, but it seems it cannot access the library or something. Because when the player class is at the createHero() method it gives me the "error 1009 cannot access a property or method of a null object reference"
I have a main swf called, main.swf; Inside it I load another movie, skin.swf (this has 10 movieclips in the library with linkage name). What I want is to attach the movieclips from skin.swf inside the main.swf.
But problem is I am not able to attach the movie clip in the main.swf from skin.swf.
Flash is great tool for animations. I was wondering if I could send events to Java and receive results back. In other words call some functions in flash and get their results.
Does flash store the items in the library in an array? I would guess yes. For example if i have an array named pics in my fla file can i write something like:
I'm having some doubts about how to access some features of embedded files and loaded.
For example, I created a .fla and added a symbol to your library - a MovieClip with name and class circle. Then convert the .fla to .swf, thus becoming test.swf.[code]...
I have a swf file which contains in its library couple pictures.After it is loaded using preloader I would like to be able to create couple instances of them and add them to the stage.If I use swc approach and import it in library path I can not preload it but instancing is very simple i.e [code]How to access them when doing it with swf and loader class?
wants to know whether i can access a online library for actionscript.Example: A place where it'll explain what "==" means, aswell as listing other script definitions.
I'd like to put a given cursor design in the library, then make a call to it using the custom cursor script I'm working on (detailed in the other thread). This is more professional and attractive than keeping some thing on the stage.

I have a folder with my .fla, and a folder called "classes" where I stored all my classes. I'm trying to access a MC in the .fla file so that I reference it from one of those classes in the "classes" folder. for you visual learners...
I'm currently attempting to build my first classes in AS2 (with high hopes to soon move to AS3..baby steps). I have run into a problem that has cost me the last few hours of the night tonight and I still feel like I'm no closer to the solution >_<
The scenario: I am attempting to create a couple classes that work together to handle the creation of textFields and the methods by which to scroll them (if needed). One class method creates the TextField, populates it, then calls the next class that attaches and sets up the scrolling components/methods if needed.
The problem: I cant access items in my library from my class no matter which way I slice it. I need to attach movieClips from the library to act as my scroll components and am currently attempting to do so by passing the linkageIDs through the constructor. Tracing the items passed through works fine, but attempting to use attachMovie with them (or with the ID's as literal Strings) fails silently; nothing gets attached.
I'm creating a card game and I need to use graphics from the library. All the movieclips have their linkage setup. How do I access the library movieclips from a class?
I was wondering - lets say I have a bunch of code on the main stage and then an array variable located inside of a movieclip that's in my library. There is a button on the main stage that when clicked will load the library movieclip containing the array. Is it possible to access the array variable that's in the movieclip from the main stage even if its not on the stage from the get go?
I know this would probably be much easier to do this using classes and setting global variables, but was wondering if its possible without taking that approach.
have an external class which controls about 400 buttons. But I want this class to also be able to show a Popup window. But this would mean I would need to access the Library.Within this library would be a MovieClip exported for Actionscript with the name PopUP.WITHIN the fla it's easy:PHP Code:va popUpWindow:PopUP = new PopUP();addChild(popUpWindow);
I have a package that extends my sound class that I want to also control the alpha of an existing symbol on my stage. I have read that this would be ideally done through some sort of event listener but I can't find a way to do it. Basically, my package generates a wavelength that I want to control the alpha of an existing library symbol. I have gotten examples to work the way I wish but can't seem to get my package to access the main .swf's library.
Here's the code:
package {import flash.events.SampleDataEvent; import flash.media.Sound; /** * A dynamically generated binaural beat carrier wave Sound with frequency easing. */
I have a film with 4 scenes in it: Here's a link to the film and as you can see the film does not play the music the second time because of the StopAllSounds function which is probably the wrong code to use. The first scene is just a button with 1 frame, a stop action and a music clip. The second scene is the film. The third scene is the credits fourth scene is a Play again button. I have a Stop all Sounds action on the fourth scene because if I do not use it and I press the Play Again button, the music from the first song keeps playing but also the music from the film starts up again so it starts to play twice. What I want to know is, how do I get the music to stop at the end of the film but start up again once I hit Play Again?
I am using Flash CS3 if that helps and using Actionscript2.
I'm new to AS3 so please bare with me with this basic question.I have the following codes and I followed the answer from this question, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm not getting an error or getting a trace response.
Basically I need to access this test_mc inside the added child. Am I doing something wrong?
