I want to add a preloader to my site. I already made the simple bar movieclip, but I am not too saavy on the code part of it. What would I input in AS to run the preload and then switch to the next frame when the site is finished loading?

- the website has content (text) which is loaded externally
- the images are also called externally with the help of 'loader' component
- i have added a preloader at the beginning of my file
but still when i loaded it on the server....the images and the content is coming slowly....
load the whole file completely at the time of loading (including the external content)...?
I was given the task of adding a preloader to an already existing flash website. The website is completely in flash. Each "page" is on a layer and are made of animated movie clips. It is a portfolio website, so some pages take a while to load up. That's where the preloader comes in. I want to put a preloader at the very beginning of the page that will play as the entire site is being loaded, so when the user clicks through, each page shows up quickly and seamlessly.
I have created a preloader in a separate flash file, but can not get it to work with the website. How do I combine these two files to work?
I'm basically a designer with no real programming background. I do understand some basic of AS2, but with AS3 I kinda have no clue. Anyway I got a problem that I have been trying to solve alone for quite some time and can't seem toI'm trying to write my own code based on the thing I have seen in both tutorials. I wrote the fluid layout part based on the first tutorial link, and the preloader part based on the code found in preloader.fla in the second tutorial link. So now I have 2 seperated swf file, which is website.swf and preloader.swThe thing is that once the preloader is done and the website.swf is shown, the fluid layout code inside website.swf doesn't seem to work. Both files has the fluid layout code, and the code works when u open the file seperately, but when it's linked together the code just fails.here's the code on the preloader.fla:

The preloader works fine on Internet Explorer, however when I tested it in Mozilla and on a Mac (running Netscape) there is a lockup on the preloader. The screen will just sit there and the website doesn't load. Both were running Flash Player 6 which is the version I'm aiming for. I found that if I refreshed the page the site would begin to work, but I doubt visitors to my site would do this and I don't want it to be required to get my site to work. I just started working on a preloader screen that includes a preloader mask over a logo and a percentage dynamic text. I can get either or to work but not both at the same time. I notice that if I remove stop(); I can get the percentage to work but not the preloader image. With the stop(); embedded the image preloader works but the percentage doesn't.

i tried the tutorial that teaches you how to create a preloader....i followed the instructions and it still doesnt work! what's wrg?[code]on my first frame actions....i put the "gotoAndPlay (36)" cause i tried a previous preloader that took more than 1 frame and didnt want to change my button's "goTo" frames...but i figured it wont change anything..anyways, i put that line of code as my first frame action....by double clicking the timeline..then i create a symbol for that frame 1 and created an animation.

I'm wrapping up a small corporate website, but I left the preloader to do until the very end, so instead of changing any layout of my View, I just moved everything to frame 2, and put the preloader on frame 1. I'm using some of the code here: http:[url].... which seems pretty ace.
The problem I'm having though is that CS5's built in preloader is going and loading the whole swf, then it runs my preloader (on frame 1) which causes it to move strait to frame two instantly (I changed it so now it at least plays through the animation then moves on, but it's still not loading anything during that screen).that is causing flash to load the entire swf before even playing my preloader on frame 1. I don't remember having this problem in CS4.
I know it's possible i saw it on several websites does some one know how i can use a static text in preloader counting to 100%? For an example look at ILOVETECHNO.BE The preloader a heart use a static text i think it cannot be a dynamic text because the font is not a normal average one

View 1 RepliesI've just about got my first site finished, but am having a few issues with publishing it, firstly, I can't get any browser to load it with a scroll bar - if it goes beyond the dimensions of the page the viewer is unable to see anything which is cropped.Secondly the alignment is fine in firefox, but totally off in safari and internet explorer.And lastly (and its a biggy) I can't work out which files and which order of files to upload to my server in order to get the damn thing live!

I have tried publishing the file in flash versions 7 - 9.
There are only 15 pictures that need to be loaded, each less than 50kb, so I don't think that really matters. The file size of the .swf file is less than 1kb, so I don't think that has any effect either.
So, I was wondering if there is anything that I may need to add to the code to make sure that things flow smoothly? Or is there some publish setting that I need to change?
