ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding Roleovers To Movie Clip Buttons?

Im stuck with adding roleovers to my movie clip buttons. At the moemnt my button code is set so that once clicked it stays on a framewhich is another colour, it then stays that colour until another button is clicked. This works fine, but now I need to ad a rolover to each button that is the same colour as the button once clicked - my code goes like this

here is my issue, so i have a main page with a slideOut movieclip which basically is a movie clip button and the "over" state sends a tray out of the movie clip with info and anothe rmovie clip button. i cant seem to get that movie clip button to root.gotoAndPlay("frameLabel");i have the actionscript on the same frame as the movie clip i need to act as a button. but it just doesnt seem to react to it.i have tried going to the main timeline and doing

I am trying to place buttons inside a movie clip to control the timeline of the same movie clip. This does not seam to work like buttons on the main timeline. When I play the movie the cursor does not turn into a hand and the rolloever affects only sort of work. I have read about controling the movie clip with buttons on the main timeline, but I need one of the buttons to change halfway through the movieclip. I want to be able to jump to interior shots while in the exterior section and vice versa. It would seem that button would work the same way inside a movie clip as they do on the main timeline, but that does not appear to be the case. I am using CS3. Action scrip 2.0 is selected, but I could change it to 3.0 if it would make a difference.

I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function
I have to move a text box in and out over the MC backgrounds on the main stage... which is why I was thinking to do it this way? I've been switching back and forth bwtween AS2.0 and 3.0

I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

I used the Kirupa Tutorial for Advanced Rollovers to create my navigation menu and within one of the movie clips I have additional buttons that show up on the roll over.I know that you need to place the onPress code on the frame that the buttons actually live. I have a trace("mix_btn: "+mix_btn); to find out if the button is being found.
My problem is that I dont know how to get the code below to actually dynamically load and external SWF into a container on the main timeline. A friend of mine suggested a MovieClipLoader or onLoadInit Handler but I have no idea how to use those. (I'm a noob and proud of it!). (this is my latest version of a onPress.)

I have two clips on the stage with mouseover and mouseout actions. When you roll over a clip, a new clip is created and added to the stage. I then use the drawing methods to draw a callout.It works fine the first time, but when you roll over the second clip, the drawing for the previous object is not erased and it adds to the drawing with the information from the second rollover.

I've added a movie clip i've created to the stage and it works fine... the movie clip has 4 frame labels inside it with different content on each label. The main timeline has 4 buttons and I want to be able to click one of these buttons, it will load the movie clip (which it currently does) but goto a specific frame label within the movie clip. Using an XML file, I am pulling a series of JPG images from my hard drive onto the stage. Each of these images will need to have different mouse events placed on them that will take the user to another part of the movie, or perhaps to a different scene.
The attached code successfully pulls the images to the stage -- as JPG images -- and spaces them. What i need to do is make each of them a
button or movie clip, each with a specific action (information which can be gleaned from the XML).
Eventually, I'll need to show images from this XML file based on user-selected criteria via some check boxes. And I'll also need to build some kind of "show next 9 images" and "show previous 9 images" functionality.

I am trying to add x amount of movieclips to the stage with their own unique _x value. Also with each movie clip added i need to add an array with a smiler name. I tried this code.

under the attachmovie I have ["enemy"+1] but when i trace enemy1 it returns undefined. But when I put ["enemy"+1] it returns the _x value. also if I put _x: i * 5, I only see one movie clip so I have a feeling they all have the same _x and_y value. basically I wanna be able to add 2 enemys to the stage with out over lapping, and the option to add 50 with out too much over lapping (would like to avoid overlapping by also giving various y depths, between 200 and 250)

I am trying to add around 20,000 instances of a single small movie clip (HexTile) from the library into a container Sprite using actionscript. The problem is it loads immediately and it loads very slowly, so I would like to know if there is a way to preload it? The class that adds the movie clip library symbol (World) is not the document class, nor is it referenced from the document class. I have tried dragging an empty sprite linked to World, and I have tried exporting it to other frames as well is preloading it as it's own .swf...

I am attempting to add a movie clip to the stage when a button is triggered. When the user clicks the button the movie clip is added to the stage; it works fine, but the following problems occur:
1) The appearance of the movie clip is delayed.
2) The sound in the movie clip starts to play but the movie clip appears when the sound is finished.
Additional information: 1) The movie clip has the sound in the timeline.Here is the code:

On the main timeline, I have placed a movieclip (movieclipone) which contains some content. On frame 85 of movieclipone, there is a new keyframe which contains a movieclip that hasn't previously appeared in the movieclipone timeline, (moviecliptwo) which contains four buttons (btnone, et cetera).Is there a way to have code in the main timeline that attaches listeners to the buttons inside moviecliptwo, which, when pressed, trigger a function that increases a counter and tells movieclipone to go to the next frame? This is the code I am using right now:

The portal in my game is suppose to be unlocked after you collect all the coins. The portal is locked but when I go over a coin it neither adds to the variable or removes the movie clip by instance name of coin1 coin2 and coin 3.also if the remove movie clip doesnt need _root I've already tried it without it I know that is not the problem.

I am currently trying to make a photo gallery using flash. I have made a scrolling menu and want to incorperate it into the photo gallery, but, my photo gallery uses the onRelease function. My scrolling menu requires the movie clips to be inside another movie clip called panel. Is there a way to add the onRelease function to a movie clip INSIDE another movie clip? My application creates instances of a movie clip (located in the library) based on XML data. Now I want to add individual button functionality to these instances, and I'm stumped.
I'm basically creating instances of clickable doors, the data of which are fetched from an external XML file. The number of doors (doorCount) is calculated directly from the number of "door" nodes in the XML, so it needs to be fully dynamic. Essentially, I want to have a single function that each instance can use by passing in their individual XML data. Clicking a door would first open the door (or something similar), and clicking it again would lead to a link, listed in each instance node.

I don't really know where to begin. Am I able to declare an eventListener inside the loop? How do I pass the "number" of the door to the function called by the eventListener? Or should I somehow pass the door-specific link (and any other node data) to the function directly from the loop?

I added a button symbol to a movie clip in a Flash 8 project, and the button works. OnPress it redirects to a web site.However, the animation in the movie clip becomes diabled. I get the same effect regardless of where the button is placed, e.g. scene1 timeline, movie clip, etc.

I created the code below which works as it should using the main timeline actions in AS3 - now, for my project I need this to work in AS3 using class files (basically I'm creating an app which uses pages as class files. This is intended to go on the 2nd page.for some reason though when I've copied it into my project and instantiated it when the page loads, even though all traces say that the squares should be there - they are not! The best I've had so far is one square in the final position![code]
