View 2 RepliesI am working in two different applications, one to be compiled for desktop use (AIR) and one to be compiled for the web. They are part of the same project and use the same visual components, but they are completely different apps. When a visual component is changed in one application then it should also change in the other one. Is this a good situation to use a shared library fla? I am new to the concept of shared libraries and I am considering the options.
On one had I would not have to update 2 applications everytime I change something, on the other, I would always have to recompile the library folder when I do the smallest changes to a component.
I recently switched a Flex project over to using RSLs. It built fine for quite a while but has recently dug its heels in and is giving me this error:configuration variable 'runtime-shared-library-path' requires a value for 'rsl-url'I went through all the flex XML files I could find and either this value doesn't exist or there are entries available for it. Nowhere did I see a <rs-url></rs-url> with no value.
View 1 RepliesWe have a huge project written in AS2 with the old FLVPlayback component which was responsible for progressive download playback of FLVs. I'd like to support MP4 files (which is now supported in Flash 9 and up with the updated FLVPlayback) but would like to not have to rewrite all of the project.I've seen in various posts on SO surmised that one could possibly use CS4 to open the AS2 project, replace the FLVPlayback component with newer one and build.
View 1 RepliesI'm building a flex .swc library using Ant, and many of the assets that are supposed to be in the file are not being copied, instead creating 0-byte entries in the .swc.Here is the ant compc target that is doing the creation. I've tried both compiler.include-libraries and compiler.library-path here, which is why the latter is still present and commented out. Neither worked.
<compc headless-server="true"
default-frame-rate="${flex.default-frame-rate}"
debug="${flex.compiler.debug.mode}"[code]....
I'm trying to build a flex project, linking it to some RLSs. When setting up the project in Flex Builder, the corresponding "build configuration" (that I got by adding -dump-config to the compiler options) generates (among other things) a tag like this :
<runtime-shared-libraries>
<url>some-lib.swf</url>
<url>some-other-lib.swf</url>
[Code]....
The AS3 documentation for the <img> tag in htmlText says:
src: Specifies the URL to an image or SWF file, or the linkage identifier for a movie clip symbol in the library. This attribute is required; all other attributes are optional. External files (JPEG, GIF, PNG, and SWF files) do not show until they are downloaded completely.
So you can stick images from your library in html textFields...
I've got this lovely flash interface that's going on a CD-Rom. It's entirely contained in one file-- and I'd rally rather not have a "resources" folder just for three lousy icons.
I try to use an external StyleSheet with an embedFont. But as soon as I switch embedFonts to true, nothing happens anymore.The font is embedded in an dynamic TextField on the library (so I can embed parts of the font and doen't have to import the whole font), it's definitively there, I can find it width enumerateFonts and use it with TextFormat. But if you click here, you see the un-embedded TextFields most likely in an alternative Font (wich both are shown correctly on my system), the correct embedded-font TextField with TextFormat but nothing on StyleSheet with embedded font.[code]
View 2 RepliesI have an old Flex app build with the Halo library. Now that Halo was changed to mx library, it makes the old Border component stop working and I'm unable to build the project anymore. Even when I try to change the library to MX, the Border cannot build.
View 1 RepliesI'm making a project that is based almost entirely on code and I'm using classes. And everything was working fine until I came to a situation where I needed to make text field inside flash and not with code. I made a text field put some text inside, converted to a MovieClip, set the "export for actionscript" linkage in the library and deleted the movieClip from the stage.
Then went to my document class and wrote this code:
ActionScript Code:
var txt:text1 = new text1();
addChild(txt);
txt.x = 20;
txt.y = 20;
And I get this error: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
Weird. I don't understand this problem. I then put this as3 code into the first frame and disabled the document class. And the text appeared normally on the stage.
What is even more weird. I get the same error even if I delete this code. In other words, I get this error just by having this text object inside my library.
So what do I do wrong? Why can't I use this command in my class? And what is happening this just by having this object inside my library?
We are the developers of a complex Flash component (url...) which worked without issues on Flash CS3 and CS4. Now, in Flash CS5 (both Mac and Windows versions) we have found a couple of problems at author-time
-1- After installing the mxp file containing the component, when trying to drag the component from the Components panel to the stage, or to the Library panel, it doesn't work. There's no way to import the component!
-2- If we open an existing FLA (created with Flash CS4), the component doesn't show correctly at author-time: you only get a black frame, instead of the expected result (it should show a white background with a logo in the middle). When compiling, everything works fine.
I would like to build a flex library project automatically instead of the current process, which involves one of our developers compiling it on his machine and then us checking in the resulting .swc file. It's gross. I am coming at this from the perspective of a java developer, so I'm having a hard time getting the hang of the compilation tools provided in the Flex Builder 3 application, but here's what I already have: I have created an ant file that loads the ant task library correctly, and can therefore execute <mxmlc/> and <compc/> tasks.
I have located the source code that I need to build, and know what sort of .swc I want to end up with. What I want is an ant script that will do the equivalent of these steps: We build all sources (actionscript and MXML) and assets in the project into an swc file. The library.swf file is extracted and optimized

Does anybody know if it's possible to use JSFL to add a new parameter to a manually added/created list of parameters of a Library item (Component)?
View 0 RepliesI have a component in my library that I want to programmatically place on the stage and manipulate from my external actionscript file. I have a blank FLA and all the movieclips, text, etc that are on the stage have being created in an external ActionScript file and placed on the stage. However I would like to access this one component that is stored in my library without having to place it on the stage - since everything is to be done in ActionScript.
View 2 RepliesI need to change text in all textfields in my .fla file (Flash CS3).Looks like i should call JSFL function "fl.findObjectInDocByType("text", fl.getDocumentDOM())" and it would return all elements, but it returns zero length array. I there any another way to iterate threw all library items, and change values of TextField's in MovieClips ?
View 1 RepliesI am unable to locate this component in the user interface library, every other component is listed but this one.
Is this a new you must roll your own from the list component and create it?
PS I just noticed the Alert component is missing too.
Does Adobe had releases the source code for the components that comes with Flash CS4 (fl.controls.*). If not, is there any way to use the Flash component library with another IDE like FlashDevelop for code and compile the flash applications.
View 1 RepliesI need to load (dynamically) an image stored in the library of Adobe Flash to the loader component. So far, i have imported this image to the library and exported it to ActionScript under the linkage section. I have named its identifier as well.
I am using ActionScript 2.0.
I've developed an application which uses a couple of variations of the same font throughout.I have embedded the relevant font in to every single text field throughout the application (using the embed dialogue box).However whenever I change the text in code, the font is displayed differently. I have even tried setting it to embed every character from the font in to the field, and I have also added the font as a library component and exported for actionscript. It looks like it is losing its weighting.

txt_Tno.enabled=false;But when I am clicking on the Text Tool on the left side(drawing) and giving the same instance name and doing it, its not getting disabeld
Just getting into components, and came across this recently. What's the difference between these two Component icons in the library, one with the addition of a small arrow? Images attached.
View 1 RepliesIn TFS 2010 build, I have a new build and I want to call an ant script that builds Flash. How do I call the ant script? Also How can I compile the Flash directly? I've seen the Power Tools and this question but it doesn't help me as we don't have TFS 2008. I can't find any documentation on how to use the power tools except the 1 sentence on the bottom of download page saying to create your build the old way and import it (which isn't very helpful). I've installed the power tools on the agent computer but I don't see any new options in the Toolbox when I'm designing the build flow.
View 2 RepliesI just started working with ant a few days ago. Right now I have a general buildall.xml which should call each project's build.xml. Because some projects depend on each other, I need to rebuild some other projects which depend on it. This isn't a problem--I'm just setting the depends property of the target. However, ant is always building the dependencies, even when the files haven't changed.Let's say project1 has no dependencies; project2 depends on project1; project3 depends on project1, 2; project4 depends on project1, 2, and 3; and so on.I could hack a solution which looks at project K, and checks if project 1 .. project K have updated files using uptodate. If so, then run the target. This is messy and appears unnecessary.
What is the cleanest way to implement this?EDIT: So I decided to just hack in a bunch of targets, "check_projectK" where it does the uptodate checks on all of its source files, its build file, and the build files of the 1 .. K-1 projects. Due to dependencies, this is always handled correctly. However, this is still a large amount of copy and paste for a large workspace.
note: all as3 is written in CS4 and compiled for flash 10.I have a parent movie that loads a separate standalone SWF movie. This standalone movie happens to use the ScrollPane component (fl.containers.ScrollPane), and it runs correctly when launched on it's own.When I attempt to have a Parent movie load the standalone SWF, i receive a run-time error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at fl.containers::ScrollPane/drawBackground()
at fl.containers::ScrollPane/draw()
at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher()
I understand that this error can be avoided by adding the ScrollPane component to the Parent Movie library. My question is why is this necessary? If the component is only used in the standalone SWF being loaded by the Loader class, why does the Parent movie require the component to be in the library as well?
I have built a component, but the assets do not appear in the symbol library of the destination fla when I drag the component to the stage. This is fine, except that I have embedded a font in the component. To ensure the font exists in the destination swf, it must exist in the symbol library of the destination fla.My component extends the UIComponent class, and I have a component shim, although I'm still not entirely sure of its functionI have followed all of the steps found in the 9 part MenuBar tutorial, and everything works, except for this one issue.
View 2 RepliesUsing FDT, when I have a debug configuration with several operations in the launcher chain and the final launcher opens in Flash Player, how can I retrieve the build output from the console once the build is complete and Flash player is running?
It seems that once Flash Player has started the console clears to make way for the application's trace output, but I need to be able to look back over the events and build times for each item in my launch chain while Flash Player is running. Is there a setting I can enable to either log my build output to a file or to preserve it in the console?
Edit: I know I can still read the info when building normally, this question is specifically for building with the debugger.
I need to place TextFields which appear as hyperlinks(i.e., they accept/listens for MouseEvent.CLICK event). So, my requirement is: Whenever, I place Mouse pointer on the created hyperlink, just it shows a cursor which appears in text-documents(i.e., a black vertical line with 2 small horizontal lines up and down to this vertical line).Instead, I need to show HandCursor when we Roll_over on the hyperlink.
View 4 RepliesI am using Flash CS3 and Actionscript 2.0.
I have a TextField component that has some text added during the movie. This textfield has html set to true. The text that I am passing to it has html tags.
I want to copy the plain text that is displayed during the movie from the textfield to the clipboard without the html tags.
I've a TextArea component in my MovieClip. When I double click on it, I want to switch to TextField component, allowing me to change its content. When I click outside, I want to restart its original class (TextArea).
I'm doing this, but didn't work:
element.addEventListener(MouseEvent.DOUBLE_CLICK, changeName);
private function changeName(e:MouseEvent):void{
e.target.type = TextFieldType.INPUT;
}
Where element is a TextArea (classic and dynamic text).
This is how my MovieClip looks. "Name" is the TextArea that I want to allow user changes. I'm setting it like this:
Nombre de instancia = Instance name (empty)
Texto clasico (classic text)
Texto dinamico (dynamic text)
The MovieClip is controlling my by own base class (called 'ConfLayer'). Inside it I have this:
public function doStuff(e:MouseEvent):void{
// element = TextArea 'Name'
element.addEventListener(MouseEvent.DOUBLE_CLICK, changeName);
} private function changeName(e:MouseEvent):void {
var tarea:TextArea = e.target as TextArea;
var tf:TextField = tarea.TextField; // this line throwing error
tf.type = TextFieldType.INPUT;
}
Because AS3 gives me errors, I tried this:
private function changeName(e:MouseEvent):void {
e.target.TextField.type = TextFieldType.INPUT;
}
When I double-click on TextArea element, the previous string removes and I can't write nothing.
