ActionScript 3.0 :: Call Function On 4 Separate Frames In TextEffects

Using Flash CS4 Pro (version 10.0)I am using a timer function to pause a text effect in a movie clip (textEffects).I also have a separate movie clip (Bfind) that when rolled over, it controls the textEffects movieclip. On roll out of Bfind, textEffects is restarted at frame 1.Everything works great until i hover over and out of the button target a few times. The bug I am having is that it seems the timer function is ignored after textEffects goes back to frame 1.[code]and the following is how i call the function on 4 separate frames in textEffects:[code]

I would like to be able to call a function from a movie clip so that the function repeats itself over a few different frames without having to be called again. I could have the function call itself according to an "if" statement but I believe that the movie will not go the next frame until it finishes all the cycles. So for example: The function makes the movieclip move over a few pixels but I want it to move over a bunch of pixels so as to give the illusion that it is moving slowly, I To do that the function needs to repeat until the movieclip moves the entire distance, but if that happens all within the function, at least as far as I have been able to figure out,

for my site I am using HTML frames. 1 frame is called "menu" and the other is called "main". I am wondering if there is anyway I can control the .swf in "main" with the .swf in "menu".
More specifically - would it be possible to set a variable in the .swf contained "menu" and then depending on the value, make the .swf in "main" act in a certain way.
For example set the variable within the .swf in "menu" :
myvariable=1
and then do a check within the .swf in "main" :
If my variable==1 {do this} ?
I havn't actually tried "just" doing that because I think it will take more. Does anybody know?

Is it possible to edit a movie clip so it doesnt effect it in another frame? I want to edit the 'ground' in level 2 but so it doesnt change it in level 1. I have tried making a ground2 but with no sucess...

I have created a small image gallery for use in a CBT Program.What I am looking to do is, each image in the slide when clicked needs to go to a separate html page.I currently have it working as far as being able to execute a single External Call to go to a HTML Page, but it is working for the entire gallery not individual pictures.I am thinking of separating the way the MC are loading into the container, then tying External Calls Specific to the individual clips.

I'm trying to use ExternalInterface.Call to call a JavaScript function to launch a lightbox window. So far I have this:
AS3:
flash.external.ExternalInterface.call("launchLB", "" + aUrl + "");
JavaScript:
function launchLB(url) {
alert(url);
[Code]....
I get the alert but I can't get the lightbox window to display. When my as code makes the ExternalInterface call I get what looks like a page refresh and a blank browser window.

I have an enterFrame action that I use on a graphic:

Because I want to use the above code more than a few times, I tried to make it a function.

But for some reason the function call does not work when I call it via an action on a graphic where initially the code worked when it was explicitly written and not called as a function.

why this is not working.I have an application with a new class I just created. The class loads, but will not call it's own internal function.

I need to get a javascript var in my Flash application. I like to be able to just set a variable in the javascript (client constraints) rather than define a function.
Can this be done? I am trying to use the ExternalInterface.call()
AS:
ExternalInterface.call("function(){return window.someVar}", null);
JS:
var someVar = "Test";
This does not work and I suspect it is because the ExternalInterface.call() does not like the anonymous function.

I have a function defined in JavaScript like so:
function fadeBack() {
alert("fadeBack called");
};
I call that function from my Flash file like so:
import flash.external.*;
flash.external.ExternalInterface.call("fadeBack");
This works in both Safari and Chrome, but for some reason Firefox won't ever call the function. Still, I can't figure this out. How can I fix it?

I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?

I have a master movie clip with a movie clip embedded. This is to create a photo gallery. With in the master movie clip I have "buttons" or thumb nails of pictures to be displayed from the embedded movie clip (which are the pictures). I can't seem to get the thumbs to call on the frames where I want the movie motion tween to start to show a picture (the tween is to give the effect of fading in). Below is the code that I have (note that for the same buttons I have added some effect when the mouse rolls over and out of the thumb so disregard that part of the code)..

I have an AS3 program that calls a function multiple times. The function must return multiple variables, so I created a class for the function to declare an object containing all of these variables. For example, here's my class:

Let's say the calling program calls the function, which returns the variables into data_set1 (where data_set1 depends on input variables arg1, arg2, arg3) using:
var data_set1:PER = function_name(arg1, arg2, arg3);
The calling program does some stuff, then calls the function again, but returns the variables into a new variable name, data_set2:
var data_set2:PER = function_name(arg4, arg5, arg6);
My intention is that data_set1 and data_set2 are different (e.g. not linked together).
My question is, given that arrays are passed by reference, will data_set1 be modified to agree with data_set2 upon the 2nd function call? Why or why not?

I have just started learning AS3 (2-3 weeks) and I have to say its very enjoyable!I am trying to make a function that pulls in values to save me writing 15 separate functions!I have a "street mc" which has 15 "house mc's" inside.When the user hovers over a house I want the resident to appear above the house.The house instance name is house1 and there is a mc in the library linked using the MrsRoy() class.This is my code so far:

its a door make up of 8 segments, im trying to animate it by making it open and close equaly,each door segment. but my segment is distorting because im doing each one segment bt segmet.is there a way to achieve this in flash?
