ActionScript 3.0 :: Change The Contents Of A String When Click On An Image?

I have hundreds of images that need to play a unique sound when clicked. In order to simplify the building of this flash file I need to streamline it in a way that will allow me to change only one word. Below is some example code.

I'm trying to makedress up game using flash cs5 (i'm new to all this so bare with me), and i have the body but i want to change the skin colour with a click of a button, i have 4 skin colours that i have ready but i'm not entirely sure how i can do this,
I want a button's image to change upon click, but I need it to change between two images, one of which will always be on the button. The thing is, I want a button that says either "Running" or "Stopped" (each has its own image). When I click the button when it says "Running," the button image should change to "Stopped"; when I click the button when it says "Stopped" it would change to the button image for "Running." How can I do this?
i am trying to make it so that an image (0. or 00. in my example file) changes to a new image when a button is clicked.... (01 02 03 etc in example)how can i do this?

I'm making some elearning courses and we are trying to combine semi-automation with the ability to place artwork and content on the timeline. Basically we have a series of small tasks -- read this, click this button, see the result, and so on. We have a "highlight" area component that indicates the area a user is to click. Currently that component dispatches and event from the instance when it is clicked and the main timeline is listening for the event and then moves them ahead to the next task when they have clicked properly.
So the following code: myClickAreaInstance.addEventListener("clicked",handleClick) And the handleClick function and removing the listener all has to be handled on the timeline. And for a given task there might be an intro animation and the click area component might not come in until the end. So where to put that code and how to automate it becomes tricky. So I first dug up AsBroadcaster and could use it sort of like Mouse or Key classes.

I am creating an image gallery and the images change but change right back to the original image. I had it working yesterday but today it doesn't work.
I have a website and i decided to make it in flash. In my website i have a image gallery and 2 places where i want to put the text. I want to make some buttons which change the gallery content and the text in one box.

Ok, so I'm trying to accomplish a seemingly simple task. I have a gallery set up for a website, where if a thumbnail is clicked, a larger version appears on a display. I can't use external swf files because it doesnt add itself to th get BytesTotal, so the loading bar wouldnt include it loading those external swfs. There is a pause before the picture actually loads (I want it preloaded).
Now I have the movie clips i want to exchange in my library, but dont know hwo to get them to become the on-screen movieclip. I have an on(release) function with _root.screen = 'mc_clip1'; is that not the right syntax? is there a better way to load mc's from the library?
The stage loops through a few clips so this one gets removed and added to the stage again and again by itself. How can I modify the contents of it on each loop iteration?[code]...
How to make a link to the other text/image contents in flash pro 8. I have now created one swf file and I intent to create/ add some more pages.contents are lengthy and I want to use text to scroll by using The Flashtuning Scroll Bar or using Uiscroolbar from the components. When I click the linkbuttons the link pages should open/in the flash itslef. SWF file is in [URL].
I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.

I would like to know how to make it so when you click a button, it goes to a different frame within a MOVIE CLIP. Kind of like gotoAndPlay but not a frame in the timeline. I would like it to move to a different frame in a movie clip.
I have built a simple Flash application that will be presented using a projector, the application will show messages in the form of questions that will come from a simple flat-file text file or XML file.
In addition to this I would also like to be able to add my own messages using a simple HTML form.
I've been looking around the web for some resources, but have been struggling to find what I am looking for. The basic idea is that the flash application will loop through these different messages from the XML, but then when a user types in a message that will also appear within these messages. Think of it as a sort of dynamic tag cloud.
I'm customizing an xml flash website and while I can handle all the html and xml well enough, but in Flash, I have no clue how to: Now go on the stage, and delete the contents of the last layer(background & pattern). Here, add from the library, the square movieclip, and name it mcBackColor(see attached image).And then to add your swf background in the "background & pattern" layer from the main.fla file.
I can change the name, but don't know how to delete just the contents of the layer and then add the new clip.I've made a slideshow before and that's all I can do.
I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after
