I have a website and i decided to make it in flash. In my website i have a image gallery and 2 places where i want to put the text. I want to make some buttons which change the gallery content and the text in one box.

I've got myself a gallery which is generated from the contents of an XML file. (I just followed this excellent tut!)
I've decided that its too much hassle to update the XML file everytime a new image is added to the directory, so I'm thinking about using PHP to build the XML file. That means that going from PHP->XML->Flash. Can I just go straight from PHP->Flash? All I want to do is get a list of files in /directory_x. Are there any obvious benefits/drawbacks to either method?
i want to know how did the creator of otradesign accomplish the effect in his site like the menu and the main contents change size and the menu position according to the size of main contents.

View 1 RepliesI have just successfully displayed the contents of my 'gallery' xml in a grid layout to my stage. My issue is I have a fairly small area to work with and I need to put these inside a custom scroller. The custom scroller I have atm displays only text (via a TextField and URLLoader) from a txt file and I'm confused how to alter it to load my gallery images (from my xml) instead. Can I load images from the XML into the textfield? Is there an easier way of doing it.

The problem is that the component makes internal stage conflict between my project and the gallery component, witch is embedded in my flash. The gallery works perfect, but it makes the scaling of my site totally wrong when I go back from the gallery to the rest of the site. Now I have override the problem by putting this code:Code: Select allstage.scaleMode="showAll"; on the frame where the HOME-button in the gallery is jumping to. The only problem now is that the site is about 20% off center at the left side on some screen resolutions. How I can get all the content perfectly centered?

I've tried doing this by creating this class, but unfortunately, the data provider I've bound to is never not empty at the time the setter executes.

I have a flash site that I'm working with that has an xml photo gallery as one of it's menu items. the photo gallery has three pages, all three containing thumbnail images that once clicked, load the larger image. The larger image dissolves in covering the page with the image. Once you click the larger image it dissolves out returning you to the gallery.
What I want to to do is to change the first page of this gallery to a video gallery, or player, leaving the other two galleries as image galleries. I tried simply replacing the images listed in the xml document to flv files and the flv file does not load. I simply want to know what it is I need to do in order to change this one page so that I can embed videos on it.

View 2 RepliesOk, so I'm trying to accomplish a seemingly simple task. I have a gallery set up for a website, where if a thumbnail is clicked, a larger version appears on a display. I can't use external swf files because it doesnt add itself to th get BytesTotal, so the loading bar wouldnt include it loading those external swfs. There is a pause before the picture actually loads (I want it preloaded).
Now I have the movie clips i want to exchange in my library, but dont know hwo to get them to become the on-screen movieclip. I have an on(release) function with _root.screen = 'mc_clip1'; is that not the right syntax? is there a better way to load mc's from the library?

The stage loops through a few clips so this one gets removed and added to the stage again and again by itself. How can I modify the contents of it on each loop iteration?[code]...
I have built a simple Flash application that will be presented using a projector, the application will show messages in the form of questions that will come from a simple flat-file text file or XML file.
In addition to this I would also like to be able to add my own messages using a simple HTML form.
I've been looking around the web for some resources, but have been struggling to find what I am looking for. The basic idea is that the flash application will loop through these different messages from the XML, but then when a user types in a message that will also appear within these messages. Think of it as a sort of dynamic tag cloud.
I need to get more control over the thumbnails.

I'm customizing an xml flash website and while I can handle all the html and xml well enough, but in Flash, I have no clue how to:
Now go on the stage, and delete the contents of the last layer(background & pattern). Here, add from the library, the square movieclip, and name it mcBackColor(see attached image).And then to add your swf background in the "background & pattern" layer from the main.fla file.
I can change the name, but don't know how to delete just the contents of the layer and then add the new clip.I've made a slideshow before and that's all I can do.

View 1 RepliesHave built a gallery that holds animation files (60 fps) and flash video files (30 fps). The gallery file speed is 30 pfs to match fhe video files. in this configuration my animation files play very slow while the video files play good. When I change the speed of the Main Gallery file (the one that holds the animation and flash video files) to 60 fps. The result is inverted. The animation plays OK while the video plays very slow.
How do I change the speed of the animation files so they play at the correct speed. I have a hint but do not know how to script it. Animation files ( playSpeed X2 or something equivalent).
I am not a programmer, but have managed to combine the slideshow, image gallery and hover features of the provided scripts to create a slideshow that you can control with the previous and next buttons. I have also been able to connect it to an access database so you can control the images / info through Content Management console. once this has been sorted I will post the code here, if its any use to anyone. I need to make a XML Driven Photo slide in Flash CS5.It needs to have a Box that contains 5 Thumbnails(by XML) act as buttons.The Box sits on top of the Main photo area and shrinks (or close out) when user click its close button. And it opens out by clicking on a open button.I'm sure it can be done by using timeline, Tweening or you name it..But what about the Thumbnails that run from the XML file?Can they disappear with the Box and retrieve when it opens?[code]
View 1 RepliesI used a tutorial ("Photo Gallery and Thumbnails: Flash Tutorial!" by tutvid on utube) to create a gallery on my website. I love the thumbnail navigation but, I want it to play like a slideshow when it first opens and I want to add play/pause buttons. I am using Flash MX 2004 and don't know much at all about actionscript or how to make these modifications. I emailed the author of the tutorial to see if it was possible to make these changes his reply was: "Yes, it is possible to modify the file in this way, however I don't remember how I set it up so I wouldn't be able to re-code it for you in this email. I would take a look around the web at Actionscript 2.0 slide shows and see if you can use the code they are using and make it work with your gallery."

A while back, I got some help pulling this script together. It uses bitmapData.noise to generate a visual noise pattern. It can be viewed here: [URL]
I checked with a colleague who is expert on the use of these visual patterns, and he suggested that the change speed is too fast: that the dots (pixels) need to change at just under 400 dots per second for an 800 x 600 stage. I tried changing the "seed" parameter, but while this slowed down the pixel-dot change, it did not run smoothly. I'm not sure what else can be scripted to accomplish slowing down the change rate

I want my products section of the text when I click on the menu on the left side there are three. I want to get these categories.
