I am loading a flash movie the second my computer starts (Like an App or Gadget).
How do I choose the location on my screen that it pops up. For example, can I tell or move the flash movie to a specific location on my screen?
Im trying to use BitmapData.draw() on a movie clip, thing I noticed is that this method always draw from the top left of the movie clip, is there a way to "center" the draw method somewhere else on the mc?

View 14 Replieswhat happens is I have a movie that play out to a lets say frame 299 then 3 buttons will show up on the stage. now when I press button 1 it will start playing a movie starting on frame 300. How can I direct that movie to go back to frame 299 once it is finished playing so I can choose a different button?I know I can add another button at the final frame to do that but I'm not sure if I want to go that route.

View 1 RepliesI have recently been using Charles the debugging app. And noticed a very chatty app named skyrocket (a very very cool slide presentation app) sending a lot of data across the wire. It is built in flex by the looks and I was wondering why they had chosen to send their data using base64 and not amf. Is it because they don't want to be locked into the flash platform? Or could there be another reason. Is it to store it as XML in the database as they don't want to be dealing with amf when handing data to other services/clients (iPhone etc).

However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?

However, It loads this animation on the upper left corner. But I need to load it on a specific location, for example 120 px to the right and 70 px from up...

Its a board game similar to Go but a lot simpler.I have two options flash or the much touted HTML5 with JS. I have to learn both though I have basic knowledge of JS.The problem with flash is I have to pay for the server component but the UI development could be easier and have a richer look and feel to it. With HTML5 + JS there is no cost involved but the UI development I feel will be clunky and not smooth. This I am not sure.

So, I need to find a way to figure if my text will be readable or not, the text should change to black (for example, yellow background) or white ( dark blue background ) if the contrast is not good enough.

I managed to write some PHP which writes some XML including the following:

And well... this is where I'm stumped. What I need to do is read "position" and "menu_name_ice" (or in fact any of the "menu_name_*" but let's start with the first one) and, using Kirupa's excellent tutorial, that worked just fine except I need to read just one "subject" at a time, not all of them (there are plenty more, all in the same syntax).I'm using "position" to determine the posting order of "menu_name_*" to the stage and "visible" to determine whether or not to do so.
If you click on one of the images of the employees I would like it to load another movie into the location above where the image of the bird is. The swf with the employee photos is a series of buttons within a movie clip within another.

I followed a few tutorials where all of the code was on a layer in the main timeline (for arrangement). I kind of liked that but as I advanced in flash I started having problems with specifying the hole path for every movie clip (sometimes 7,8 embeded movieclips). View 2 Replieshow I can use the location of the mouse to control the alpha of a movie clip. I have 3 images that are the full stage width/height. One image will be in the background and does not need to be changed. However the other images I want to fade in when the mouse is moved from the middle to the left or the right. So I know I need to set a min and max value to be the range of the alpha, but I have never worked with mouse position before. I can't use the mouse over function like many tutorial's show due to images being full screen.

My function is as above. While I use this function in flash I only see the last movieclip on the stage which was passed. Movieclips passed earlier seem to have disappeared from the screen.
