Professional :: Add Controls To Webpage Video?

Mar 5, 2011

I'm new to Flash and I'm pretty sure this a dumb question that has been asked many times - but go easy on me as I have searched and searched through and just can't find the answer.

I've created my first animation using a set of digital Jpeg photos and I've figured out the code for inserting this into my web page. It works perfectly and I'm very impressed with the quality of the animation and how small the file is. Now I want to add a simple control bar underneath with Stop, Play, Rewind - the usual stuff you get on YouTube, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.

Flex :: Refreshing An XML File Through HTTPService?

Apr 21, 2010

I'm having a problem refreshing an xml file. I am bringing it in through an HTTP service component and putting it into a bindable array _cattArr, that I am using as the dataprovider for a grid.When someone adds an item to the datagrid, it saves to the same xml file. Then I close the window, reopen it and don't see the item that has been added.It is writing to the xml file, because when I restart the flex app, the item has been added, it's just not refreshing it. I have tried to resend the httpservice, but still no luck. What is the correct process for doing this?

Actionscript 3 :: Refreshing A Flex Component?

Jul 14, 2011

Is there a way to refresh a component or an application back to its initial state? I have an accordion navigator that stays on the most recently selected index even if I log out. Right now, my log out function takes me back to the login page which is at state(1). If I log back in and go into the accordion, it is on the last tab I had viewed.I would like to be able to clear any data from the controls inside the nav and reset the nav back to its default. I thought something like,

public function logout():void{
currentState = "NotLoggedIn"
myAccordion.initialize(); }

would work but nothing happens. This is done in Flex 4.I know I can make a huge loop clearing each control individually and setting the selectedIndex of the accordion to 0.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Fullscreen App Stop Refreshing

However, after an unpredictable amount of time it will stop refreshing - appearing as if it has frozen. But escaping the app out of fullscreen mode will cause it to instantly revive into action as if nothing had happened. Returning to fullscreen then will once again "freeze" after time, but its not technically freezing due to memory issues, it just won't continue to display unless escaped.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Refreshing SWF Contents Loaded From Xml/txt

Feb 18, 2010

I want to make a web radio and i want to have a box displaying the current song playing and the song that is going to be loaded after.

In fact i need a solution to the first one as the second is the same.

The streaming provider is going to provide me with a txt file that is going to be refreshed every time the song changes .

So we have a txt file changing it's contents , now how can i make the swf refreshing it self to read the new changed txt file and displaying it ?

The best solution would be the swf refreshing every time the txt changes but i believe this isn't possible. So how can i at least refresh it let's say every 2 minutes or so ?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Refreshing Call To Load Php Every X Seconds?

Jul 20, 2009

I have a project where I have code inside a MC on the main timeline that loads XML via a php file on the server. Once the data is loaded, it sends commands to other MCs and works just fine.However, I need to refresh this XML info every 5 seconds or so. I have tried several things such as interval code and pause code, but the farthest I got was that it paused the initial clip for 5 seconds, then ran the script once, but never again. Or it refreshed, but got stuck on the first frame of the clip.Now I am thinking I would be better off NOT having the code inside the MC, but on the main timeline and just having the action span the course of the main timeline. That way, the call to the php can be refreshed from any frame of the main timeline. Does that sound right?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Refreshing A Local Shared Object

Oct 13, 2010

I am building an application that uses a Shared Object that is shared (ironically) between 3 separate applications. 1 application listens for updates, and the others update the app. The problem I am having is that I need the main application to be able to detect changes to the Shared Object. Unfortunately there seems to be no events to listen for that are not for 'remote objects'. Because of this I created a timer that gets a new local instance of the shared object every X seconds.I just call the following before I read or write to the sharedObject:[code]This is causing a CPU Hiccup every 3 seconds and bogging down the system. so all this being said, does anyone know of a clean way to refresh a copy of the sharedobject without creating a brand new instance of it

Choppy Scaling / Moving - Doesn't Seem To Be Refreshing Well

Aug 17, 2009

I made a carousel with actionscript 3 and it doesn't seem to be refreshing well. It's very choppy. Here's the file [URL] The framerate is 30fps

[Code]...

basically as ellipsePosition increments, the x and y values of the doc increment around the carousel. There is more to it for the scaling and alpha changes, but I get the same result if I remove them. I tried changing the framerate up alot. I also decreased the step size of ellipsePosition and it still acted the same. In DirectX I would create a backbuffer but I'm not sure that would be a reasonable fix for actionscript. Surely there is something built in, actionscript is by no means low level. It's a really vague question but is there anything thats very common that could cause this or that could prevent this, or is this expected behavior of flash.

ActionScript :: Flex - Keep Selection When Refreshing Datagrid

Oct 20, 2010

I'm working on my first ever AIR application with flashbuilder - just so you know. I've bound a mx:DataGrid component to a DataProvider which is a mx:HTTPService fetching an xml file with items. To keep the data up to data I'm polling the webservice on a given interval.

My problem is that I loose the currently selected item in my DataGrid when the data is updated. I've tried to save the DataGrid.selectedIndex and set when the data is updated, but I'm not sure when to do it?! The closest I've come is to restore the index when the updateComplete event of DataGrid is fired. This works, but the selection first fades away and then fades in - not updated soon enough. So what is the best way to keep the selection? (only one selected item at a time) And as a side question: is there a convenient way to only update the data when it has actually changed?

Flex 3 :: Refreshing Repeater After Adding A Child

So, once the user clicks this button, I call the following function:[code]The above function creates a new XML object, puts some default values in, and appends it to the list of project positions. After appending the new information, I made the height of the project larger and then check to make sure the new project height isn't overlapping any other projects... but that information is irrelevant to this post.My problem is this - once i append a new child to the XML variable, it doesn't appear on the screen. Is there a "refresh" or "re-render" option i can do to the repeater in order to make the new child show?[code]Once i make the changes, and use the XMLListCollection as the dataprovider in the repeater, the information no longer loads on the screen.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Timer On/off Refreshing Picture.x Status?

Nov 17, 2009

I am creating flash panorama image viewer. There is a movie, left, right button, and some other buttons. Left and right buttons are triggering Timer, on MouseDown (timer is on), on MouseUp, switches timer off. timer function moves picture picture.x = picture.x + 20 (other side -20).

That works well. Other buttons are moving picture to the specific locations of picture.x and that works well too. There is a dynamic text, which is reading value of the picture.x Dynamic text is reading well, if left and right buttons are clicked, but can not read if other buttons are pressed, ones who are taking picture to the specific location. I presume that it is not picking up the value of the picture, because the program was not refreshed after taking picture to the new location. How can I refresh program in order for dynamic text to read value of picture.x?

ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash MX/2004/8] Refreshing XML Data In IE7?

Apr 16, 2007

The questions I posted last week dealt with XML and localConnection. Basically I had 2 swfs on a page. The main swf has the ability to modify some XML data (via an ASP script and database.) The second swf includes content populated by some of that XML data. When the data is modified, the first swf sends a call to the second (via localConnection) to refresh that data. I had everything working perfectly Saturday afternoon until I tested it in IE7 (on Win XP Home.) Older versions of IE, Firefox and Safari all showed no problems, but when the data should have been modified nothing seemed to happen. Nothing updated, etc.

I was able to confirm in the database that the update was actually happening, just not appearing. At first I thought IE7 wasn't playing nice with localConnection, but I eventually determined that IE7 wasn't playing nice with XML since it would happen in swfs that didn't use localConnection at all. localConnection was running and acting as it should, but IE7 was caching the XML feed even though the only component ever making a call to the XML was the swf. The XML was getting cached in IE and IE wouldn't let go (the only way to see updated data was closing and reopening the browser,or going into 7's new browsing history to delete the cache.)

The work-around I used was to add a querystring variable to URL for the XML feed. Every time the swf looks for it, it uses getTime to add a number of milliseconds to the end of the string so IE thinks it's getting a new file:

Code:
currentDate = new Date();
currentTime = currentDate.getTime();[code]....

I've been testing it on and off since Saturday evening and it seems to work without issue.
