ActionScript 3.0 :: Convert A Drawing From SWF To Image/PDF?

in AS 3.0. The requirement is, user needs todraw something and take a screenshot or in the PDF format fromflash swf by clicking a Save button[Save button will be in the sameflash file]. Is it possible in AS 3.0 with out any plug-ins?

Over the weekend i put together an MP3 player in Flex and just managed to figure out the SoundSpectrum.
It is working as expected.
I am facing problems when it comes to using a bitmap.
Right now, my "Analyser" class pulls the data from SoundMixer.computerSpectrum.
I then use that data with the drawing API to create a simple analyser. You know, just spikes.
Here is the code for that part:

Ok using common sense here, I am telling flash to take a snapshot of the Analyser and draw it to the bitmapData.
However, i cant seem to get this working. I am not using the dispose() method to clear the bitmap so id expect to see a mess of points (similar to if i removed the g.clear()) but nothing happens.

I am building a flash widget for uploading files, but I want to display the thumbnail with html/js, once I have the file loaded via Browse into flash and have access to the raw data, is there a way to convert that to a base64 encoded dataURL so I can send that back out to JS to create a thumbnail like ?

I want to know how can I make a logo or image appeares like some one is drawing it. I am not sure that I have to break the image to multie peices then put them in a different time line or use Masking. I've got a custom AS3 scrollbar that I need to modify. The scroll thumb (the draggable part of a scrollbar) is currently just done by drawing a rectangle. But I need it to look more like a real scrollbar. Not sure how to modify the below code to import/use a scroll thumb image:

I'm trying to draw an image in actionscript, I set it as a BitmapFill within a rectangle. The problem is that if I move the rectangle away from the origin(0,0), in my case I start drawing the rectangle at (20,35), the bitmap background doesn't follow along. The background is always drawn at (0,0) and then repeated, so I don't get a centered image but rather 2 halved images. Here's what my code looks like:

I started with a simple code to draw image. But i didn't get the expected results. What i got is:1) Image gets rendered but it gets scaled to high resolution and images gets distorted.So i wanted to draw image in its original size. If image size is 300*400 then i want to get it drawn in its original size.I google searched and try to find on how to achieve it. But no success.i want to know how to achieve this two things:1) drawing image in its original size, i don't want it to get scaled .2) how to set the size of display screen ? when i ran the code, the display screen(flash) cover whole browser page area ? i've seen a few good examples to save out a png of the current flash display area from a webbrowser from a flash, such as:[URL]what they normally do is stream the image data through a png encoder to a web server somewhere and then decode the image data back to current webbrowser and then trigger the web browser SAVE function, by prompting user to select a path and file name to save, like a download.however, the difference is when you click that save button, you can save your png image directly to a certain location with a fixed file name, such as on your local computer:

im trying to create a online business card editor to learn flash again, one of the functionality im trying to achieve is being able to upload an image (jpg,png etc) and place said image onto a drawing canvas and then being able to scale the image and rotate the image and move the image around. can some one direct me to a decent tutorial for this kind of functionality.

I understand that flash doesnt provide saving to image technically, have seen some websites on the teaching & i tried to apply on my flash.

I'm building a drawing class that is passed an image, and it will run an ENTER_FRAME drawing lines of varying thicknesses and gradients to look as if it is being hand painted. All works well and is doing just what I'd hoped. My problem is after a while, it starts to hammer the CPU. I can understand why it could be taxing, but I thought the drawing API was meant to be rapid? Is there a way I can optimize the process? I am only using 1 enterframe, and it seems to get progressively worse the more lines are laid down. Does the Flash Player not render them as Bitmap after they are drawn? I'm just trying to work out why the more lines are drawn the heavier the swf runs.

But I want to change the Alpha so that my top layer shows through it, and I can't seem to figure out how to do that.

I've written a class that iterates through all the frames of a movie clip and draws each one to a different bitmap. When I'm done, I should be able to iterate through the bitmaps and play them like a flipbook animation.If I draw all the clips to the same size bitmapdata, then everything looks great. But this is wasteful because now a lot of the bitmapdata's are bigger than they need to be (takes up more memory), and also causes problems because the hit tests don't look right.
So next I try to crop all the bitmapdata to be the smallest possible sizes. However, when I do this, there are subtle differences in the way the images look - the edges might look slightly darker in one frame than in another. When I line up all the images and play them back to back, it no longer looks the same way it originally did.I have no idea why the images look different, and have no idea how to work around this problem, I have tried many different approaches. I have tried using BitmapData.draw(), BitmapData:copyPixels(), and manually using BitmapData:SetPixel(), and all end up with the same result

we use Flex Charts to generate reports and want to be able to have these reports emailed out on a scheduled basis. To do that, we need the SWF to run (as if in the browser) to fetch the report data and then have its contents converted to PDF or a static image. This needs to happen server side with no interaction from a user. Currently we solve this via an AIR app that can read the report file, but a static image or PDF would be much more desirable.

Is it possible to convert the text above into an image? Generate dynamic images isn't problem but generating dynamic images which takes html tags into count is for me problematic. (the <br /> shouldn't be displayed instead it should generate a new line)

I'm working on somewhat of a templated system where I've got a SWF file as a template and then people upload their own images and place them in the certain masked areas of the SWF to create like a scrapbook page.
My question is this, what would be the best way to convert those images to an image that people can save and thus print? Would I have to do this while their viewing the SWF or is there a way to generate an image with some sort of command line tool that I'd pass the swf the user's settings to make the SWF unique each time?
